  1. If doing simran leads to feelings of pleasure and well being afterwards, am I using it for selfish, self satisfaction purposes?

    Feedback appreciated.

  2. Thanks alot!!!! Really I cannot say thank you enough, the bharam is about my own spirituality and mistakes. Can I please ask does the shabad have to be read out loud and does it all have to be in one go?

and xylitol ji, i have sort of tried hukamnama about sort of related things, but I think I need to do some of this jaap too (my own sharda is lacking)

  3. Gurfateh

Just wanted to ask anyone who is familiar with sharda pooran granth or any of the similar granths if there is any advice in them about what bani to do if stuck in bharam and are unsure what to do spiritually (i.e. must make some very important spiritual decisions) and whether unsure if what you are doing/have done is wrong, what you do need to do etc. I would myself but I'll be honest I don't quite get how you are meant to navigate through them to find what you want. So I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me or give the page number.

    I would really appreciate it.

Also I think there are some 3ho sikh videos on youtube, by Guruka Singh, bibia, etc. on these issues, havent listened to them myself though.

i think mrsikhnet site might have some things.

  5. First off if you want to know why you arent progressing/how to progess you simply need to ask Guru Sahib, ie. take a hukamnama. Its as simple as that, don't know why you are putting yourself trhough so much when you have Guru Sahib right there ready to tell you the answer and solve your problems.

    About your post,

If people like Sant Jarnail Singh Ji were not only able to reach avastha AND be mukhi of Taksal AND help others on the path AND hold a DHARAM YUDH MORCHA, while MARRIED with CHILDREN, who are you to say marriage and gristh jeevan holds you back?? Like Gurbani says dont blame others and also dont deviate from Gurbani, as only Gurbani can tell you what will lead you to Vaheguroo. That means you remove these thoughts of penanace and running off. Guru Sahib created gristh jeevan and anand karaj for a reason and that reason can only be that it helps us in our Sikhi, not that it hinders us.

Maharaj never did anything pointless, and certainly nothing to hold us back, so why do you think he created anand karaj? To help us of course!! Look at it this way you have 24/7 sangat AND someone to do seva of!!!! Can you imagine someone being there making sure u wake at amritvela or you being there to make them get up at amritvela!! You can both go for mukti together! How awesome would that be, can you imagine you not only get to Vaheguru yourself but get to take someone with you! Basically if we were meant to be some sort of loner celibates maharaj would have told us, however quite opposite maharaj has actually totally dissed that lifestyle.

You are saying that a system maharaj himself has given us and told us to live is hindering your progress, but you fail to realsie it is infact maharaj who knows how we will get to Vaheguroo and seeing as he says celibacy and hermitage is not the way but actually gristi is, you are actually disagreeing with Guru Sahib

Whats hindering your progress is actually your karams, nothing else, its a TOTAL COP OUT to blame your lack of progress on any one else

and there are many more just search the word 'blame' in srigranth.org

Also penance is a big no no, if you beleive in Guru Maharj you will believe that only Naam pleases Vaheguroo, the reason for you not making progress is clear IMHO, if you still beleive in running away, doing penance and that gristi is hodling you back, you clearly havent taken in the message of bani at all, no offence.

  6. interesting video, but whats the meaning of "hindu sikh"?

this is an understandable and on the whole agreeable explanation for its use in regards to the martial art, i.e. hindu sikh shastar vidia, but how you can you explain the phrase "hindu sikh soldiers" as found in the video description? Surely there should be an and between hindu and sikh?

Nihang Niddar Singh demonstrates and expands upon the history and technique employed by Hindu Sikh Soldiers in Loh Mushti, a means of fist fighting whilst wearing an iron bracelet. This clip is intended purely for educational and informational purposes and it not meant to be an instructional video. Attempts to copy the techniques shown could lead to injury
  7. reading the synopsis it doesn't seem to mention any thing about the 'relationship' being protested by any one, and his parents were living together unmarried? Thats unbelievable! Oh AND they lived like this under a sant?? Where the hell was this? Also obviously you have to ask where on earth this singh's dal was to give him sajaa, I'm pretty certain this would be dealt with pretty harshly to say the least.

  8. I worked out a good simple way recently, before you go in the shower just wet your dhari and cover it in conditioner. Then with your kanga just comb the whole dhari with the conditioner in it,you want to comb it so it looks how you want it to look (obviously it will be alot more smooth and in place than when you have washed it out!) then I just wash it out towards the end of the shower, pat it gently with the towel so its only damp (dont move the dhari out of place though), then apply a little bit of oil over the whole dhari, still taking care not to let it get out of place. In a few minutes time it will start curling again but hopefully it will look nice and will stay put more or less in the places you combed it earlier.

  9. I think Silence ji meant that a lot of the weird practices like the ear-piercing babies stuff in PS could just as easily be repeated by a modern day Punjabi who believes that such things are part of Sikhi rather than traditional cultural practices from Punjabi village folk.

    K.

Yeah pretty much, sorry I can't offer any deeper insight! lol

But would like to hear your thoughts dalsingh

  10. I'm gonna ask a question, just for the debates sake. Alot of memebers on this board pride themselves on so called traditional sikhi, however when it comes to many issues actually in real life, they seem to take liberal modern approaches. How do you think something like this would have been dealt with by our forefathers? In fact this kind of occurance would not even be dreamt of has even happening in the first place.
