He looks and listens, hears and speaks, and runs around. ||1||Pause||

ਜਬ ਕਛੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਤਬ ਗਰਬੁ ਕਰਤੁ ਹੈ ॥

When he acquires something, he is inflated with ego.

ਮਾਇਆ ਗਈ ਤਬ ਰੋਵਨੁ ਲਗਤੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

But when his wealth is gone, then he cries and bewails. ||1||

ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਰਸ ਕਸਹਿ ਲੁਭਾਨਾ ॥

In thought, word and deed, he is attached to the sweet and tangy flavors.

ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਇਆ ਜਾਇ ਕਹੂੰ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥੨॥

When he dies, no one knows where he has gone. ||2||

ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਬਾਜੀ ਜਗੁ ਭਾਈ ॥

Guru granth sahib can be accepted as well because there are many many many sufis after Prophet muhammad with many books and utterings and followers who have a tradition of singing those works in a darbar and do langar(persian word).

What does that mean? Do you mean Guru Granth Sahib can be accepted as well, just like many books and utterings of Sufis after Mohamad?

I know Guru Nanak existed there is too much evidence to suggest that he is not just a folk legend- the Sikhs are the legacy of him and it is time to live up to that.

It's nice that you believe in Him, but if you think He was merely human than He cannot be your Satguru and you are already not a Sikh. He becomes just a historical teacher for you, whether known or unknown, if this is how he is accepted, He cannot be Guru Nanak for such persons. So it doesn't matter if He is known to them this way or not, since it is meaningless. There he is in history book is nice, but it won't have any effect on people's lives, and will only create the animosities of Sikhi being perceived as a competitor to the "only accepted religion of Islam" to Islamics. So what's the point? And that part about messing with Mecca was to show His divinity, not that He was an empowered pir, and it will never be accepted by Islamics as anything but a challenge and a heresy.

It is not 'in this day and age'. It is ALWAYS.

Guru says, "ਸਿਰ ਧਰ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੋਰੀ ਆਓ". One is just physical exercises, second is peer pressure for you, nothing else. Third is the way to go, if one dares.

That is the saddest indictment of spiritual deterioration and corruption in a sampraday that I have ever read. How sad this truly is, especially since every human being is a spark of the Divine we call the Beloved One.

Love the Ahl ul Bayt (as), fight their ennemies. Summs up Tashayyu pretty well.

Love the Guru, fight the enemies. But this does not sum up Sikhi.

An Amritdhari once told me that there is no point in reciting 'Waheguru' unless one receive it from Guru roop Panj Pyare during initiation. It is Gurmantr only when received from Guru.

Panj pyare are physical roop of Guru/Sant/Sadh. One man guruship is no more in Sikhism. People like Balbir may start their guruship, but it is not part of Sikh tradition.

I had previous thought ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲਾ referred to a particular time (i.e. the period leading to dawn). But now I get a sense that it doesn't refer to a particular time as such?

I tried watching a 'debate' on a Sikh channel recently. It was so boring I couldn't do it. And it wasn't for lack of effort on my part.

I loved the debates on SurSagar TV, particularly Dasam Granth ones. Singhs were ready to pounce on each other. Number of them waiting outside studio to decide the matter with punches.

My curiosity is to know. Since when are you reading the Guru? Do you feel it is Naam Simran?

He had other more important issues to deal with. There is no joon better than manas joon. Work on it. Don't worry about bakras/bakris/murgas etc.

You can use Google translator to find similar sounding words in Persian too.

It is still being used. There is famous Punjabi song ਤੁਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣ ਵਤਨਾਂ ਦਾ.

ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੈ ਅਸਾਡੀ ਭਾਰੀ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਗੀ - Does anyone know what ਵਾਨਗੀ means? I translate all that proceeds it as 'My heavy favour is placed upon you' (I know this is a very literal translation). Or is that last word an older form of ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ?

People nowadays use ਮਿਰਹਬਾਨੀ instead.

ਇਕ ਜੋੜਾ ਭੇਜਾ ਹੈ ਰਖਾਵਣਾ - "One set of clothes has been sent, retain it." I always thought ਜੋੜਾ meant pair or twins?

Shoes are called ਜੋੜਾ. You will often see ਜੋੜਾ ਘਰ outside Gurudwaras.
