  1. when someone walks by wearing appealing garments?

I do not avoid it. I watch the beauty. Then I watch my mind. I give it free ride.

When mind is fully engrossed in lust, having fun thinking about various things it can do with that beauty, I slap it back into place.

Watch your mind like a you are watching a shararati kid.

Play with it. You would be ok after awhile.

  2. Very interestingly, we see what appears to be the bodies of two decapitated Sikhs retrieving their heads, in the middle of the image. Would be really interesting to find more in depth information on the provenance of the painting. Enjoy.

They reversed the great tide. There must be much more what lost in time. So why Sikhs retrieving their head were painted? Maybe something is very obvious and I am missing it.

  3. So when you listen to a thought. you a.re aware not only of

the thought but also of yourself as the witness of the thought.

A new dimension of consciousness has come in. As you listen

to the thought, you feel a conscious presence - your

deeper self - behind or underneath the thought, as it were.

The thought then loses its power over you and quickly subsides,

because you are no longer energizing the mind

through identification with it. Thls is the beginning of the

end of involuntary and compulsive thinking.

When a thought subsides, you experience a discontinuity in

the mental stream - a gap of "no-mind." At first, the gaps

will be short, a few seconds perhaps, but gradually ithey will

become longer. When these gaps occur, you feel a certain

stillness and peace inside you. This is the beginning of your

natural state of felt oneness with Being, which is usually

obscured by the mind. With practice, the sense of stillness

and pea.ce will deepen. In fact, there is no end to its depth.

You will also feel a subtle emanation of joy arising from deep

within: the joy of Being ..

    Is he talking about ਅਨੰਦ?

  4. This whole Shraadh thing is based on premise that food reaches one's ancestors. I don't know if does or not. Let us see what Gurbani says. Here are the lines from Satguru Nanak and Bhagat Kabir.

The rice balls are offered to the gods and the dead ancestors, but it is the Brahmins who eat them! - Satguru Nanak

Tell me, how can his poor ancestors receive what the crows and the dogs have eaten up? - Bhagat Kabir

  5. This is obviously speaking about the hypocrisy and pakhand that the Brahmins were doing.

It is not only Brahamins, people who are giving to Brahamin believing that their ancestors will get the food, are pakhandi and hypocrite too. You babaji in the audio is implying that ancestors will get the food. It is a lie. I am not saying it, gurbani says.

Kabir here isnt attacking Shraad but rather saying people have focused upon Shraad and have forgotten Rab.

Isn't Kabir Sahib calling Shraadh ਬਿਖਿਆ? READ.

I wonder, do you just search for 'Shraad' in sikhitothemax and copy and paste the lines without even reading them or the context they are written in?

Ain't that better? I added nothing from me.

BTW I knew what Gurbani says about this pakhand. It is for your reference. I did copy and paste. There is no need to type whole shabad.

Lot of people don't like this fact. Guru Granth is for everybody, not reserved for some class. You can't change it. You can't hide it. You can't do parchar of ਬਿਖਿਆ giving reference from some other granth. You will get caught.

  6. This is practise is now common to be labelled as "Hindu" and "anti-Gurmat", but Baba Ji explains in his katha what Shraad for the Khalsa means, which is to serve langar to both our ancestors and to the needy.

I don't listen what Baba ji said about Sharad, but I listen what my Guru says. Langar is served to needy everyday, it does not have to be Shraad day.

Nothing reaches your ancestors, but only goes in mouth of Brahmin or Petu Gurudwara bhai. As Satguru says

The rice balls are offered to the gods and the dead ancestors, but it is the Brahmins who eat them!

Kabir Sahib made it more clear in Raag Gauri Bairagan,

He does not honor his ancestors while they are alive, but he holds feasts in their honor after they have died.

Tell me, how can his poor ancestors receive what the crows and the dogs have eaten up? ||1||

    End of Shabad

You worship gods and goddesses, but you do not know the Supreme Lord God.

Says Kabeer, you have not remembered the Lord who has no ancestors; you are clinging to your corrupt ways. ||4||1||45||

Yes, you shraad ceremony is a corrupt way or ਬਿਖਿਆ .

  7. A story I heard somewhere.

Guru and chela walking to a destination. On their way, they came across a river. Just before they cross the river, they saw a young, beautiful lady waiting to cross the river. She asked for help. Though she was very sexy and dressed scantily, Guru never hesitated and carried her across the river. Chela was shocked to see the hypocrisy. Guru always told him to stay away from sex and other women, but when Guru got a chance, he readily carried her in his lap.

So anyway, their walk continued. Now chela was upset. Guru noticed his upset chela for couple of days and then asked him the reason why is he upset? Chela told him the reason.

Now Guru said," I carried her in my lap for few minutes because she needed help. I never cared her being young and beautiful. But listen, you have been carrying her in your mind for last two days."

Morale of the story: If your body need some action and your partner is not sleepy, DO IT. It is better than doing it in dream or trying to forget missed chance a night before while doing bhagti next morning.

  8. There is nothing wrong with sex and bhagti. Having a nice long session in night would help you focus more in early morning bhagti. Also not having sex with your young wife would be like running away from duties. Nine of the Gurus were married, some with multiple wives. Surely there was lot of sex. If they thought sex is any obstacle, they wouldn't have married.

It is physical appetite and pleasure, just like other physical pleasures (eating tasty foods etc). Don't overindulge in these pleasures, but also don't waste your time and focus trying to suppress these urges.

  9. Right in the beginning of sampooran rehraas the above are referred to as being saved. Who are they and how do they fit into Sikhi?

I had a quick look and it seems Prahlaad was a famous devotee of Vishnu.

Anyone have knowledge of this they could share?

Right here how Lord saved devotee Namdeyy

  10. It may be useful to consider gradations of duality. The Ego or the 'I' is what creates duality as this 'I' considers itself seperate from the large I called Akaal Purakh. A rock has a sense of I but this sense is of pure duality it is totally seperate and has no hope of becoming part of the one. A Human Ego has the possibility of reaching higher gradations of unity, to see the interconnectedness of everything. There is always duality on the path of knowledge, but the duality varies in quality, only at the end of all knowledge is duality finished. There is always duality because there is always an I and a Thou, but what becomes important is the relation between the I and Thou, is it a relation of a stone to its surroundings or an Angel. A stone is pure duality because it does not interact with a soul with its environment, you have to kick it to interact with it. An Angel is in duality because it is an Angel and not God, but an Angel is sensitive and has knowledge of the environment and is related more intimately with its environment - through smells etc.

And to experience it. Let the ego reach a point where mass holding it becomes irrelevant.
