  1. Lalleshvari dhadi gives bir raas to people who listen to it..just like chandi di var,etc..al may not be to the taste of the guru personally, but nevertheless they were employed in order to influence and inspire people. This music may not be good enough for ur ears, but it hits the urban cultured youth in the west, who are drawn to hiphop, etc. Is this such a bad thing? It seems like sikhs have lost tolerance in their blood. If its not akjs, then its nihangs..and now sadly, its someone of ur intelligence and broad mindedness. And the music is not khalistani propaganda, most of the artists invlolved (whom i know) arent khalistanis. And the message in that cd is to revive/get the attention of sikh youth, through courageous stories (which happnd not so long ago); and to create a sentiment for the people who lost their lives at the hands of oppression. So no, it isnt based on khalistan. Its based on truth; something which sikhs shouldnt be scared to project, just because we're scared of what our hindu brethrins are gonna think.
  2. O and thank u so much for ur posts, and as kang, excellent post veera! p.s amrit paji, im from london, pm me plz and let me know ur asl, so as i can take some gurmukhi lessons off u!!
  3. Amrit veera, is music producing so wrong if its not about bad stuff i.e sharraab, etc??
  4. Theres more than 8.4 million species of animals. Hence isnt bani incorrect?? Im confused
  5. Charitropakhyan-most scholars agree this IS NOT the work of guru gobind singh ji. Shed some light please lalleshvari.
  6. gurfateh. Then why did we have idols in the gurudwarai? was it because of the masands who looked after the gurudwara (i hurd from a book) ?? I ask this because nihangs consider themselves, in essence, hindus (according to shastar vidiya) and although i agree with most points, this was kinda confusing for me.
  7. I agree pheena..being physical in other ways tends to be alot more meaningful and affectionate i.e hugging and caressing (without getting tooooooooo into it)
  8. How sad..we criticise the way people talk and communicate with god. I didnt realise there was set methods in feeling spiritual bliss.
  9. Why are your conclusions in the context of india and its social norms lalleshvari? Surely this mentality would mean sikhi isnt as universal as guru nanak dev ji preached by walking all four corners of the globe. Or do we expect the world to adopt its norms to bharat?
  10. Here about it alot, and only come into my thinking until recently (from nihangs.) So fill me in people; is it true that prior to british rule sikhs would marry with hindu rituals, etc. Harmandir sahib had idols of hindu gods and that we use to basically be sikh/hindus (kinda thing.) Im confused, fill me in!
  11. Ok that last post was good..very concise and blunt, but effective! Cheers lalleshvari, now i know where ur coming from and i completely agree!! But as neo singh said; aside from all these opinions and views..and scholarly talk and debate..it all comes down to love of maharaj..love of waheguru..and if people can feel it thru sex, or thru turbans, then good luck! Lets love god together and stop criticising eachothers methods! Waheguru
  12. I choose to ignore them..unless they push/touch me. Thats when the ol shiney kirpan is unsheithed, by which time they run like a bunch of miaows!
  13. Im sorry to say but lalleshvari is very hostile in his tone, hence it is naturally upsetting alot of people, such as myself. Fair play, uve got ur views and ur references, but lets see more quotes from gurbani..because next to gurbani, yes all these books worth two cents
  14. I think that shabad refers to the soul bride i.e the human and her husband (lord.)
  15. Its not shameful mate; if im fulfilled with naam simran and bani, then who is the world to condemn me to hell for not having sex!! Personal choice..once again. Jeesh, people need to stop trying to enforce their opinions on others!
  16. Lalleshvari veera; i dont have time to read all of that! But could u tell me; when guru ji said she had male attire did he state it was the dastar, or did she wear the banaa like singhs??
  17. Let the five evils be YOUR slave, and not the other way round, thats the key. Yes guru was angered from the arrow thrown by the hill chief; and guru ji says it rekindled his passion to throw multiple arrows at the enemy i.e the hill cheif. This implies that the gurus did/were angry amongst the other five vices, HOWEVER they had them under COMPLETE control. Infact its a sin for me to even make this assumption; im not a brahm gyani so i cant make this statement is concrete; but for the rest of us guru ji said the following; 'he who is subject to birth and death is not perfect.' Sex is kool; and enjoying sex with ur partner, as long as u control ur passion, and not the other way round; there IS something spiritual about sex/making love; but then theres something even more ecstatic about reading bani and being in spritiual bliss through naam simran; so who needs sex
  18. Of course there is some militancy/terrorism..but this is only natural/human nature. Not everyone can take their family being butchered alive and wife and daughters being raped quite so easily..being at a low spiritual level, i myself, would seek revenge. Without doubt. Im not saying terrorists were right in their actions; but we have to look at things from their point of view; we havent lived through what they lived through..we dont live in india, like they do..we havent lost loved ones, like they did. Anyways im going off on a tangent; i just want people to put their feelings aside..and go to every single one of the pics; and tell which one of these men looks like a terrorist? To me they all look like saint soldiers..beautiful sons of guru gobind singh ji maharaj..they faught for freedom, and defended the oppressed..they didnt want khalistan..that demand came AFTER bluestar..and the dehli riots (naturally.) http://www.searchsikhism.com/gallery/2.htm
  19. Ridiculous..makes me sick. Sad thing is, the videos were really good (footage of nihangs, etc.) Damn jazzy beans
  20. I agree..sikhi today is a mish mash of the british empire with indian culture..and to be honest, sometimes i lose my footing and dnt know where i stand!! It can be confusing and long..so my advice would be, to all sikhs, is to follow bani..read bani..practise bani..listen to bani..and all the answers shall come to u! I think bhai gurdas ji put it beautifully in one of his poems when he said that the khalsa make decisions spontaneously..
