  1. sorry got confused with hawein, that was banned by nihangs in chandhigarh.... the other films were not made by bollywood, they were made in 70s, sarbans dani was made by a person which respects sikhism. it is bad that when sikhs try and discuss the ways sikhs are made in jokers by bollywood, other people then try and shows few films that make sikhs look good. 100 films make sikhs jokers 5 make sikhs look ok, so people think that's fine. we sikhs have lost our sense of honour. now too many sikhs dont even think there is anything wrong with bollywood making sikhs jokers

    Shesssh!

  2. Vaheguroo jee ka Khalsa Vaheguroo jee ki Fateh.

I agree with HArpreet SIngh jee veer

and this statement Shasterkovich jee made -

Don't become a Muslim just because you're lonely. You should make decisions like that only if you're absolutely sure it's the way forward for you personally.

Brother AS harpreet veer said - its happened to him, it happened to me , we all go through that phase of life.

I used to be lonely, I used ot have not real good friends -

yes My family doesn't support me all the way either!

Yes I'm the only Keshdhari SIkh in school.

    I have been picked at.

and Yes once even considered Islam.

    ---------

As Harpreet SIngh jee said -

you shouldn't do everything so quickly - don't force it upon yourself - take it easy, holi holi.

From What I've comprehended, one of the main reasons you left SIkhism - WAS that SIkhs fail their own religion, and thats really true, who's to blame? the parents for not teaching . I think you take too much affect on what other Sikhs do.

    Want GUidence?

contact either me or Harpreet SIngh jee - WE can sort soemthing out for u.

I have no gyan at all, however

me being almost in the smae situation as you -

with No Sikh friends - no1 to teach me or give me guide.

I had to rely on Kathas, and once in a while go to London and listen to SIkh wek talks

point being - You should take it all easy and take it slowly slowly - you can't force something on yourself quickly....

AS for COnverting to Islam - is that reallly what you WANT to do, or is it simply because you are feeling betrayed by Sikhs?

Deliberately isolating myself from friends, girls, parents with my appearance, belief and principles, when i could have been enjoying life.

    Why Isolating urself?

    as HArpreet SIngh jee said

the GUru's didn't come to make our life miserable -

Enjoy urself to the fullest, why ahv eu isolated yourself from Freinds?

All my friends are either in job, Uni, college, abroad even. I am at home most days, living almost like a hermit. I have nothing to do, no money, no comforts, no support and with little faith left. So i just sit there in the back-yard, stare at the cloudy grey skies and think. I feel im starting to crack under the knees, so i gone back to smoking shisha through my hookah, which had otherwise just been collecting dust in my room. Its only flavored tobacco, but the affects are there.

Do you seriously think the solution to tha would be converting to Islam?

Sikhi is practicle, and to quite an extend quite individual

    its ur OWN spirituality

u do naam jup when u have time -

    attend SAngat whenever u can

Yes a lot of BS has been put into Sikhs today - try to get as many on the path as possible - if they dont want to then let them be

    in the end

They're gonna be facing DHarm raj and not you :)

    Keep in touch

    Gur Ang SAng

    take care

  3. aaaaaaaw

Same Quote comes up all the time!

its not the BATH in the LITTERAL SAROWAR!

it means RAMDAAS's SAROWAR OF NAAAAM!

Its more hindu-mat that sins will be removed by bathing in holy rivers!

Sikhi teaches us to bath in Ram Da's Sarovar of NAAM!

I think above Shabad Is composed By Guru Arjan Dev jee :)

    bhull chukk maaf

  4. For the love of Jehovah...I don't give a damn about what your problems are with a comparison with Rushdie, the point remains the same, some within a religious community rejecting a piece of written work that falls outside of the usual constraints of their modern religious perspective, and then an organised attempt to have the work denounced and the author removed from his position (Cynthia Mahmood, who produced one of the two seemingly sympathetic khalistan books from western scholars, even refers to threats to his personal safety).

I'm glad you noticed the ridiculousness of areas I requested a quote from Sri Guru Granth Sahib for! That was essentially my point. Just as ridiculous as requiring an 'ought to be' approach you have taken to the reality of Sikh identity in the late 19th century.

Really, this is not hard to understand Mr. Singh! Oberoi is not trying to paint a picture of what ought to be Sikh identity as you feel so neccessary. He was researching what was the reality of Sikh identity at that time. If you asked me what Sikhs are like in the UK, and I said 'all amritdhari, selfless servants of God, mahagyanis' you'd laugh (I hope), perhaps this is what ought to be the case. It tells you nothing about the REALITY my friend! To reiterate, there is a difference between prachaar and investigative research into Sikhism.

As for the Grewal comment...please re-read your post. The book I'm referring to is not in your original post.

pheweeee, inshallah we can move on now!

Well if you don;t give a damn then no reason for debate to continue. I was commenting on your linking rushdie with oberoi, maybe you want to show him as some sort of martyr. maybe you want to show the sikhs who criticise him as fanatics. this is the impression i get.

Seems strange to tell someoen to read a book that person has already mentioned

Grewal really does make oberoi look like a amatuer and not the scholar you try and make him out to be

  5. When hundreds and thousands of Singhs were killed many Singhs had up to 10 wives!!! This is a known fact in oral tradition!!! How else would we have been able to repopulate the Panth?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with polygamy at all as long as the first wife agrees to it and that all wives are treated with respect and dignity. I know Singhs who are polygamous and their households are happy. The children get twice as much love because they have two or three mothers and the wives are best friends with each other Economically the familly is better off because because there is more than two incomes coming into the household and this gives children better economic conditions in terms of educarion , health etc..I am not saying that all polygamous relationships are perfect but then again many "normal" and "respectable" "Gursikh" households aren't that happy either!

I don't want to disbelieve you but i find it hard to believe that there are Singhs with more than one wife !. Are you referring to Nihangs? In which case how can they have two incomes when they have two wives? seriously your post doesn't seem correct

  6. Narsinghaji

I don't know which Guru you follow but I follow the Guru Granth Sahib and I check all the Rehatnamas against Gurbani. If what the Rehatnama says is against Gurbani then I trust Gurbani.

Could you let me know whether you believe all Rehatnamas to be authentic and believe in all the Rehats. If not then can you tell me what criteria you use to determine what rehat is correct and which is not.

Nowhere did I say that I believe all Rehat are authentic so you accusation against me of using Rehatnamas when it suits my views is false. I only quote those rehats that are in line with the teachings of the Gurus. So I have no need for me to tolerate Jhatka, afeem or any other things which you hold dear.

You say that there is no point in discussing anything with me but looking at your previous attempts at debate with members, you are the first one to disappear when you cannot stomach the counter argument. I hope you will not do another disappearing trick and stay. No use putting your views and then not having the knowledge to back them us :)

    P.s

    When you'r 'coming website' coming,

proving SOOO much that u've claimed on this board

    -------------------------

I believe in GurMat and not LalleshvariMat. There's a great deal of difference between the sweet Sikhi or the Gurus and the letmemakeitupasigoalone Mat of Lalleshvari !

Kirpan Da Amrit - Lalleshvari could only come up with one obscure rehatnama quote about Kirpan Da Amrit.

    tak care

    Bhull chukk maaf

    GurFAteh

Please can we keep such personal slander away from posts, Amrit Veer has written about the Kirpan Da Amrit, presenting a view alternative to that of Lalleshvari. Nonetheless, Mr Singh, you frequently request references, now you have one you complain that it is an obscure source.
