  1. I've spoken with Gyani Takhur Singh ji about this.

    Here's the maryada:

Make bhog and do ardass at the start.

While doing the jaap sit on a white sheet wearing white clothes. Have water in a container near you and have a quoi (ghee) jot lit. After doing your jaap for the day splash chitey from the water around your paath room (it's good somehow, not sure if it's a necessary part of maryada) and then drink the water.

At the end make bhog and do ardass.

Here's the numbers for each day:

    Gurmantr jap 108 mala

    Mool mantr 32 mala

Chachree chand, Tav Prasaad mantr 32 mala

    Sukhmani Sahib 5 paaths

    Japji Sahib 25 paaths.

This takes 40 days to complete. All of the above are equivalent.

I can confirm that with rara sahib maryada, but make sure your and your clothes are suchae that is you have had a keshi ishan and you havent been to the toile!

  2. No she is not wife of Sant Waryam Singh Ji. I ll get more details about her :)

The name is Bibi Santosh Kaur Ji, Hapur Wale. They have never married and have devoted their life since childhood to the sewa of Sri Hazur Sriman Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji maharaj. It is under their guidance and with that Bhora sahib hapur is to this day preserved in the lovinig memory of Sant Ji Maharaj. Bibiji has come many times to the uk, usa and canada inorder to spread the vaheguru's divine name. The picture attached is from Sri Guru Singh sabha, Hounslow

  3. It is with great regret and sadness that i announce the passing of Sri Mann Ji early this morning  . The Jal Parvah will be held tomorrow at Gurdwara Bighaur sahib Nangal

Both Sant Isher singh Ji and Sant Kishan singh ji used to refer to shrimann ji as baba ji. They were a true bram giani, they have done sewa all their life at rara sahib in the langer, but never had a room at rara sahib. It was on the bachan of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji that they started langar sewa and never left langar for many years!.

they used to do sewa in the day and only used to sleep for only 2 hours in the langer hall. At one time shrimann ji had stoped sleeping so sant baba isher singh ji Rara Sahib sent their own bed in the langer hall which shrimann used to rest on for 2 hours.(the bed is still there today incased in glass)

It is sad to see the passing of such great souls, as they are very rare and hard to find!

  4. correct me if i'm wrong, but i always thought that an amrit dari has to marry an amrit dari. Why would an amrit dari want to marry a non-amrit dari? And i've been told you cannot have a sexual relationship with a non-amrit dari, the same way you are not supposed to eat from the same plate [jhoot] as a non-amrit-dari.

veerji you are not wrong at all, you are PERFECTLY CORRECT! people that say otherwise only do so to cover their mistakes and desires!

  5. What exactly are the reasons an amritdhari can't have sex with a non-amritdhari (who is also a Sikh and is their spouse)? Sounds kind of disturbing to me actually to be quite honest.

I mean what would happen then if 2 Sikhs got married and one took amrit after marriage and the other didn't? Would you have to stop having sex with your wife and divorce her? This is why this whole issue sounds disturbing and doesnt seem to be in line (in my mind) to the core teaching of Sikhism.

This is the very reason thats the panj pyare are not supposed to give amrit to one halve of a married couple. both have to take amrit together

  7. i can give you the rara Sahib view, the Jot is Lighted for shaheed singh Para, in english, protection for the path by shahhed singhs to make sure it is finished properly. The sgpc havent got 2 brain cells between them and all they do, pollute sikhi!! if you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask

  8. i agree with you fully lion king, it was a point which i would never have thought anyone would need to question, But as harpreet and dassan das have shown no ideal or principle is safe as more. Indeed as harpreet points out rules burden us, tomorrow sikhs will say, why keep our hair, why keep rehat at all its just a burden!!!

  9. why does there have to always be a right or wrong way ?

    Why black and white?

Why not grey? (ie personal spirituality - depending on the circumstances). !

The first point u raised is easy to understand, Religion is there to show us the difference between right and wrong!! Bani tells us the difference and whichpath too choose. Too many people rely on the grey area to cover shortcomings of their own, to justify there own shortfalls.

On a personal level i think people get mistaken about what Gurbani is there for.

It is there for our benefit - ie to improve our lives - WE NEED IT - IT DOESNT NEED US! !

On this point u are right, Bani does not need us we need Gurbani.

Why do you do good deeds - its not to make the guru happy - he doesnt need your deeds, it effects your own peace of mind. DOING GOOD THINGS IS FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT. !

Doing good deeds is not for my peace of mind, it is to tread on the path that will merge us with god, not taht we can sleep better at night!

Spirituality is the key to happiness, gurbani is a tool which gets you there. ITs a gift.

People have turned this beutiful gift into a BURDEN by extrapulating 'rules' and 'regulations' of how a person should do this and that, the deeper meaning of bani is compromised when this is done. !

Does that mean that Guru Gobhind Singh ji made a mistake, when he wrote a rehat for sikhs, and said sikhs are not important but the rehat, the rules and regulations of the khalsa ARE MORE IMPORTANT!!. Also Mahapurakhs like Baba nand Singh And Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji spent their entire lifes living their lifes by the regulations of sikhi. Why did they have to do so much bundagee and path? Baba Nand Singh ji set rules for the sewa of SGGS Ji. Are u saying they placed a burden on us, A MISTAKE! Dasan das if u agree with this like u said, you have failed to grasp an understanding, of what these great Mahapurakhs stood for and more fundamentally what sikhi stands for!

who cares about beliefs? They are not yours are they ? - let go of everything! - live! - be alive! Do what helps your life!

i think the above statement plays perfectly into eat drink and be merry, who has seen the next life! id rather live by by the sikhi rehat and the teachings of Mahapurakhs distinguishing between black and white and not living in the grey!

  10. After the post on the skhs in the city programme, views have been expressed that sikhi is a personal opnion and that sikhi cannot be disrespected in any way or any form. I want to find out if this is the general view and if in fact i am fundamentally wrong in my beliefs, as i believe that respecting Gurbani is a fundamental aspect of being a sikh

  11. it should be remembered that nindia of any 'sant' is severley frowned upon . A sant should be respected, if you do not agree with their actions do not do their nindia! MaharaJ Ji Sant isher singj ji said anyone wearing the pekh of a sadhu deserves respect. For instance no mateer what this particular sadhu is doing he is still attracting thousands of sikhs onto the path of sikhi and is therefore alot better person than we are. If you do not have any thing good to say please refrain from doing their nindia
