Sikhs are paid mercenaries for britain and you will now get mad

So Gujjar, the world is moved on and Gujjars are still fighting battles of the past. Fighting NATO, should you guys be awarded medals for petty wars.  Yes, I fully agree Sikh fought for the British because the riches that were promised and received. It's the Gujjars who get treated as absolutely filth. It's remarkably easy to come on this forum and spew out countless amount of hearsay.

  2. Who is he?

The guys name was Bhadur Singh, he use to live in the UK. Well know in the UK Student Sikh Society's around 2002 to 2005. Then he converted to Isalm and lived in Iran and called him self Bhadur Shah. Now, he has gone back to his original name. I knew the guy well, he was a good friend of my cousin.

  3. I like that.

I'd say as humans we do have some need for some sort of 'tribal identity' (in want of a better phrase), but the whole beauty of Sikhi for me is that it actually encourages you to transcend that. I think one of the great and immediately beneficial aspects of simran is to get a deeper insight into discreet processes that take place with the mind that effect human behaviour (the chattering ego). Then you start understanding yourself and others better. Thing is, religion so easily lends itself to egocentrism with notions of superiority and 'othering' outsiders that a person can very easily slip, and this is the cause of the wars - not religion.

It's like a scientific community deeming those who are less scientifically developed as them as infinitely lesser beings (like Europeans did Africans), and using this to justify all manner of abuses. It's ego. Ego naturally lends itself to supremacism; supremacism naturally lends itself to dehumanisation of the outsiders - this naturally leads to their abuse as it is mentally justified in the head of the abuser.

dalsingh101 - You are a prime example of a person who will discriminate, for goodness sake you are even discriminating in this post.

I'd say as humans we do have some need for some sort of 'tribal identity - What the f**K does this mean? and this It's like a scientific community deeming those who are less scientifically developed as them as infinitely lesser beings (like Europeans did Africans)

The Indian culture fuels on discrimination, caste is a prime example.

I think one of the great and immediately beneficial aspects of simran is to get a deeper insight into discreet processes that take place with the mind that effect human behaviour (the chattering ego).

You speak about Simran, The whole point of simran is to get away for the "I", do you actually understand "why" the reason for doing Simran?

Religion causes large majority of wars. Fair statement. You apparently think this is a dump statement. Why?

  4. Agree it is an "interesting" article but why expect india to evolve as it is a 3rd world country. forget what india is doing about its struggling students, tell us what YOU are doing for these students

kh girls ‘pushed into sex trade’ in UK

The girls are victims of illegal trafficking by unscrupulous agents.

dangerous new trend of luring young and hapless Sikh girls into flesh trade in the UK has caused widespread outrage. Volunteers of Sikh Sewak Society International led by its chairman Rajinder Singh Purewal along with a delegation of UK Sikhs met the police commissioner of Jalandhar last week to submit a memorandum demanding stringent action to check the illegal trafficking by unscrupulous travel agents based in Punjab.

They cited reports in the British media that allege several Punjabi girls who arrived in the UK on student visas were being forced into prostitution. In September this year six men were jailed at Leicester Crown Court in England for offences including facilitating child prostitution involving a Sikh victim.

The Sikh Awareness Society ran a campaign asking members of the Sikh community to arrange for programmes in their local gurdwaras or community centres for university students to discuss the issue of sexual abuse.

Bhai Mohan Singh of the organisation said that the authorities cannot deal with this situation in isolation. He said, "We as a community need to be proactive and make sure we can help to keep as many children safe as we can."

There has been much concern among Indians of Punjabi origin as many such cases involving Sikh girls have come to their notice, said Rajinder Singh Tatla, a UK resident. Many of those who come to the United Kingdom on student visas are unable to find work and are forced to join the sex trade. The large number of such young boys and girls flocking to Sikh gurdwaras for a free meal was just one of those indicators, he said. Many of these students can be seen begging door-to-door and sleeping in the streets, he added.

Sikh social and religious organisations have been helping such hapless youngsters find shelter in the gurdwaras. They have also appealed to the people of Punjab to carry out proper procedures while despatching their children to UK.

Fair point, but where is the root cause of the problem? I think the article you have posted answers your question.

This has nothing to do with religion. It all about an obsolete culture, which has failed the nation.

  5. Everyone,

I was surfing the web this weekend and found the following articles. Very interesting, India, the country which considers itself the next superpower. The next big economy, which will represent it's Asian neighbours to the world. This is what we truly want India to be.

But is India evolving with the times?

India still lives and abides by a system, which is over 3000 years. The system became obsolete many centuries ago but still practised today e.g. Caste system, Dowry system, female foeticide and many more.

Some of the articles as examples:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-29983752- Indian woman paraded naked on donkey

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-30015752- India sterilisation deaths: Chhattisgarh protests as toll climbs

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-29655662- Indian athlete Debjani Bora beaten in 'witch hunt'

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-14117505 - Is India's population policy sexist?

Reading through some of the comments in the articles, a comment made by a person mentioned a film, which was released in 2005 called : Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women.

So,I decided to watch it, not for the light hearted but you could say its a extreme way of thinking.

Matrubhoomi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I would be great to see some feedback on what people think.

  6. AKJ are a samprada ...then there got to be other sampradas too in Sikhi. means they differ from each other on so many theological issues like any other santani samprada, panth, akhara, Dera...?

weird ...you accept differences among the Sikh sampradas but not among the Sanatanis

I'd be fascinated to know where you think the Singh Sabha interpretation fits into this spectrum?

    Valid points

  7. The Sikh Gurus did abolish it but it is a certain culture that still encourages it.

Yes, I do agree but in everyday society it could not be abolished and especially in the times of the Gurus. Maybe this is the downfall of the Sikh dharam, the followers.

Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell, OM, FRS, (18 May 1872 – 2 February 1970),

Russell had this to say about Sikhism. "That if some lucky men survive the onslaught of the third world war of atomic and hydrogen bombs, then the Sikh religion will be the only means of guiding them." Russell was asked that he was talking about the third world war, but isn't this religion capable of guiding mankind before the third world war? In reply, Russell said, "Yes, it has the capability, but the Sikhs have not brought out in the broad daylight, the splendid doctrines of this religion which has come into existence for the benefit of the entire mankind. This is their greatest sin and the Sikhs cannot be freed of it."

This statement above by Russell sums it up.

  8. There is no such thing as hinduism that was british invention, orginal is called snatan dhrama which is not religion in a organized form...many scholars came to same conclusion- read scholar thesis and make up your mind----came to same conclusion that umbrella of spiritual orders cannot be labeled as religion or organized in form of religion but umbrella of spiritual orders are part of Snatan(eternal) dharma since sikhi incorporates or have all spiritual orders -includes all the spiritual orders as from aad sach everything orginated from to begin with...sikh dharma are true/ultimate heir of snatan dharma as it source of all- includes all, talks to indic all spiritual school of thoughts along with essence of sikhi/sat enshrined in our mool mantra- aad such jugad sach hai bhi sach nanak hosi bhi sach.

Please note i m not talking about sikh community in general, as far as i m concenred they are just as petty as everyone else with lot of chances of improvement..when it comes to sikh theology its find its roots right in mool mantra not just date or time- aad sach (before beginning-eternal-snatan) jugad sach (from all the ages is true) hai bhi sach ( true now) nanak hosi bhi sach ( nanak says- will be true forever).

    Fantastic post.

  9. You don't need books and research paper for every topic. Use your brain. If majority of sikhs or Punjabi's were killing daughters in 1850s then how come Punjab's population was increasing. From where the female population who use to give birth was cominjg. may be 5-10% were involved in killing their daughters but rest did nothing

Fair point, it could be migrant workers coming to Punjab from other states.

Also, population of Indian has been increasing over the years. 17.5% of the world population live in India, compare that to the U.S., 4.43%.

    Asia

Asia is home to 60 percent of global population. China and India account for more than half of Asia’s total population. China’s total fertility rate is a very low 1.5 children per woman. Should China become concerned about population aging and relax its strict “one-child” policy, projections of China’s population may have to be raised. In India, the TFR has fallen from about 5.5 children in the past to 2.4 today. But doubts about the future course of the birth rate in India’s heavily populated and impoverished northern states make projections challenging. Nonetheless, India is projected to pass China in population size in about 15 years, becoming the world’s most populous country, about 1.5 billion people.

  11. Yes, but everyone are saying red is forbidden... and I don't want to any chances of anyone picking at me on my big day for doing something that *might* be against Sikhi.

My cousin sister got married and she wore something like this:

  12. where does the list of hardline Sikhs end? there will always be one more hard-line than the next one.

but again it doesnt mean anything here, the 3ho still have their roots in gurmat principles enough to be a part of the panth.

Some Hard line Sikhs in the UK are criticising the 3ho and these are the same hard-line Sikhs who have achieved changes in the way marriages are conducted within Sikh temples.

e.g. The brides brothers are not part of Lavan process

The same Hard-line Sikhs, who made sure only kesh dhari and Amritdhari Sikhs are allowed to be part of the Gurdwara committees.

The same Hard-line Sikhs, who are not allowing women to do Kirtan in darbar sahib.

Just some of the actions, which have been achieved by hard-line Sikhs.

  13. i wasn't equating anything, just pointing out that as part of the concept of miri-piri, there is no separation of politics and religion.

Fair enough. But politicians are using religion to set-up their own agendas. Is this not correct?

Now, living in the 21st century, can the same comply (mixing religion with politics)?

If so, please explain, it would be interesting to find your point of view.

  14. where does the list of hardline Sikhs end? there will always be one more hard-line than the next one.

before anyone attempts to shun the 3ho, you'll find that they will already have shunned the sanatani clowns.

you'll find that they will already have shunned the sanatani clowns.

Interesting, what brings you to this conclusion?
