But then why are we given the ability to do things called sinful? & Why, then, are we punished for doing exactly what God has created and given the ability for us to do? (question also posted in thread to ask sant jagjit singh)

Just as when going  on the highway, there are speed signals which are to be followed, but that does not mean, if the car can run 220 kms per hour, you can do so.

Or just as there where is fire,  though you are free to put your hands or not, but for sure you will never put your hands in it, isn´t it?

Or when there is an exam paper,  as per your logic, why should one even go to the examination, why not sit at home ..... You see, it is by passing the tests of respecting nature, we evolve spiritual wise and grow to an extent of purity that we merge in our origin Waheguru Akal Purukh

So If god has given us the ability to discern between doing good or wrong, it means we have to be matured enough to avoid not doing the wrong.

In our case, we are given the opportunity to grow from our state of duality in the mayavee creation, and  leaving it far behind for once and ever,  and enter in the realm of the changeless and eternal Truth of Satnam and merge in that our Origin, with His kirpa.

To be receptive to that His kirpa, is all what Sikhee/Gurbani  is about.

  2. Well , regarding the title of this thread the Bani clearly says:

    AAPAY SATGUR

    AAPAY HAR

    AAPAY MEL MILAWE

This means, He Himself is the Satguru, He Himself is the Lord, and He himself reunites us with Him.

Thus paying attention to the Bani in the verse above, we can confidendtly say: Guru Nanak was God Himself.

  4. Wot does da word Waheguru really mean?

Well, to put  it in simple words, Wahe means wonderful, and Guru means, the Being (Supraconsciouss creative and sustainer Power of all that exists, seen or unseen), who takes us (jeevatmas), from the realm of darkness, which is all the triloki mayavee and nashvant creation, to the realm of akhoot Jot, which is Sach Khand, the true and eternal abode of Satnam, Akal Purukh, with the power of Nam,  or that Power which is also known as Shabad Guru.

The last 2 weeks or so i have been hearing the sound exactly as per the clip in the previous page. (I dont think i can post the clip) I only hear it when doing simran. It starts in the left ear and slowly moves to the right and then both. If i concentrate on the sound it gets to the point where my head starts hurting a little.

What should i do? Is hearing this sound a good thing? Should i focus on the sound, gurmantar or both?

    wjkk wjkf

    Welcome PCSJZ,

just my 2 cents, I woluld suggest you to focus on the Gurmantar, with it, one gains purity and you may hear finer sounds  which may be more pleasant and non hurting.

You see, there are many sounds within us, but then, the more purity we achieve with Simran, we will be able to hear those sounds which will takes us to higher spiritual realms with ease.

The ultimate goal is to hear the Anhad Naad, which will take us to His Darbar in Sach Khand.

    Best of luck Bro.

    Keep it up.

    Some Telltale Signs of Envy

Envy is such a common and universal emotion, even the angels amongst us, are susceptible to it.

It doesn’t help that by selling illusions of perfection, the beauty and media industries plant a degree of insecurity in all of us.

If you’re being targeted by envy, you've probably wondered why said person spends more time diminishing you than addressing their own low self-esteem and working toward inner fulfillment and self-empowerment.

The examples here provide insight into just how disempowered and irrational envy can render some individuals.

They’re committed to scrutinizing your work—and misunderstanding your intentions.

In an effort to flip the power imbalance in their minds, desperation to upstage their target can drive some folks susceptible to envy to justify relentless scrutiny behavior.

They often seem to wait eagerly and patiently for their target’s humiliating slip-ups, especially public ones, and seize every opportunity to correct and condemn them.

Once they “catch” or “trap” their targets, a common tactic is to pathologize them.

The goal is to rationalize their target’s supposed disposability, and their own supposed superiority, by stripping their target of the complexity, contradiction, fallibility, and nuance inherent to being human.

Their commitment to misunderstanding their target leaves no room for grace. And particularly in positions of authority and power, they may force their target to jump through endless hoops, setting higher and higher standards, without any intent of ever being satisfied.

What happens when even a destructively envious person's sharp deficit lenses can’t detect any flaws in their target’s character or work?

Or, when their target seems to rise to the challenge, every time they raise the bar unfairly?

They then usually begin attacking personal traits that have nothing to do with whatever they envy about their target.

An envious person who can’t find legitimate “flaws” in their target will detract from their target’s likability, or attempt to humble them, by wielding any criticism. That their criticism might be biased or irrelevant is beside the point.

The same usually holds true, for people who struggle to humanize the ones they idealize.

It’s usually unclear that their admiration borders on envy, until the object of their affection asserts a boundary or opinion that challenges their romanticized projections.

Usually, and as well as suddenly, they swing to the opposite extreme.

Q1)how long are they tortured for...?

Q2)what if they really repent.. and will god forgive

A1) There is no such calculator yet for the question you ask about, for it is something in the hands of wise Nature, pretty much beyond our manipulative human nature.

A2) The only repentance is possible while being  alive in human birth, for as the Bani repeatedly tells us something, to which we moorakhs pay no attention, and that is that Nam is the only Truth, and it is by attaching ourselves to that Supreme Truth,  through meditative Nam bhakti, that all our sins can be washed away.

After death, only punishments and rewards can be had accordingly to our karmas, but it is ONLY while being alive in human form, that real repentance can be made, which is of Nam bhakti, the all rounder cleanser.

Only  with Nam bhakti, all karmas are erased whether good or bad,  for it is only then that we become karmaless, thus no punishment in hell, nor rewards as much as in Baikunth or Swarg lok, but only total freedom and true union with that highest and eternal Truth, namely Waheguru Akal Purukh

Shudras  or lowly people, are only those who do not harbor the Name (NAM) of the Lord within their minds and hearts.

Cursed is their birth and coming into this world, for not profitting themselves with the support of His Nao, they are strongly entangled in the wordly bondages, thus they miss their goal of Waheguru.

Then, at departure from this plane, Yam doots will mercilessly beat them, for although being blessed as human beings, but never ever did they even meditate on their Creator, rather wasted away their lives collecting straw in the form of ritualism and falsehood, for without gathering the true wealth of His Name, all else is false, thus not accepted in His Darbar.

  10. Is Naam The Anahad Naad?

Found the following utmost two beautiful verses from Gurbani, where Guru Jee precisely describes and answers the question of the OP.

    ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਬੇਦ ਅਰੁ ਨਾਦ ॥

Naam Hamaarai Baedh Ar Naadh ||

The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is for me the Vedas and the Sound-current of the Naad.

    ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥

    Anehadh Sabadh Acharaj Bisamaadh ||

The Unstruck Sound-current  is the Shabad, the Word , which is wondrous and amazing!

  11. What is Naam?

Nam is the only eternal, permanent and changeless Truth, rest is all maya.

That is why Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj tells us right from the begining : Sat Nam.

It is the Supreme Truth, in the sense all else changes and is subject to fade out one day.

This Nam is also the creative power (Karta Purukh) of all that exists, seen or unseen, and also the sustainer of all that exists.

One ray of this Truth in anything made from the 5 tattwas, gets life, gets consciousness, right from the vegetable kingdom up to the realms of trinities, devtas, gods, godessess...etc.....far  much beyond all this is Sach Khand, the permanent abode of that Nam, Shabad, Waheguru Akal Purukh, where that Supreme Power retrieves when Parlay and Mahaparlay takes place, until that Power by His own will/ Hukum, wants to create again.

This power fears none and has no enemies, (Nirbav  and Nirvair), needs of nothing and nobobody to exist, it is Saebhang, means self sufficient, then it is not subject to any births and deaths (Akal Moorat).

This very power, when it retrieves from anyone, we say it is dead.

When it retrives from any gross creation to the realms up to Brahmand, we say Parlay takes place;  then when it retrieves from the the finer realms below Sach Khand, we say Maha Parlay takes place, and then, this power beyond our limited intellect, remains abosrbed in Itself.... until as said before, He wishes to expand and project Himself and create the Creation, but of course nothing can be said before hand, for it is all His Mauj, that´s it.

Any minnimum description or mahanta of this Nam, is just impossible, for even the gods, devtays nor trinities, do not know anything about Him.

But it is by His kirpa, that we can recognize and merge in Him.

In this respect, the Bani says:

Ik Oankar Sat Nam, Satgur parsad jap.

Which means, there is only one Lord Creator, which is the True Nam, and which is realized by His kirpa alone,  with its Jap, as seen in the verse below

    ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਪਰਗਟਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ

    Naam Laith Paragatt Oujeeaaraa ||

Repeating the Naam, the Divine Light blazes forth.

    Q1)Mathematics encompasses all the numbers.

There are patterns of numbers that tell us powerful secrets and mysteries about forces and powers of the universe, knowledge of which is key.  Besides, this section is "other" faiths and philosophies, Hinduism.  So what point does strict Gurmat teaching apply here?

A1)Numbers are nothing where spirituality is concerned, for the KARTAR, the Creator, the Lord Waheguru is One, and  it is to this One Truth we have to look for.

Q2)And... who is to say that YOUR interpretation of Gurmat is actually correct?

33 is powerful symbolically, and the ultimate truth is One without a Second... but we live in THIS world of duality and Maya... we do not live in heaven realm or some purely spiritual imagining... the Oneness of God can be discerned in THIS material world only thru the sargun agency of the UNMANIFEST ULTIMATE who we cannot even perceive because it is AGOCHAR.  In mathematics, the equivalent of everything... is nothing, the null void, shunyata.  So, everything and nothing are part of the Oneness.

A2) It is not a matter of mine or your interpretations  that matters, what matters is, what Guru Jee tells us .

    So, what does He say?

    He says:

    ਤੀਨਿ ਦੇਵ ਏਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਇ ॥

Theen Dhaev Eaek Sang Laae ||

Forsake the trinity, and attach yourself to the One God.

    Raag Gauri Bhagat Kabir

I think it is more than clear, that Guru Jee refers to the One Supreme Truth as the ultimate reality. Sikhee´s aim and goal is One Waheguru only, not mutiplicity nor variety of deities....

3)If 3 were an insignificant number... why is it spoken of in Gurbani?  Or, perhaps there is a teaching there. All is meaningless confusion lost in variety?  What about attending university to study psychology, engineering, medicine, philosophy, economics? What about the significance of 33 Savaiye? 33 sections of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji?

3A) Sorry to contradict you, but have no option left. For Guru Je´s words are more worthy than your inflated ego.

You like numbers, but let me tell you, Guru Jee right from te begining of Gurbani tells us: IK OANKAR.

Ik is 1 and 1 only, not any trinities, nor 33....nor 333333 if you want.... so stop being arrogant, do not take anything to personal levels such as mine or yours.... here and everyhere what counts is Guru Jee´s wisdom which is utter Truth, all else is Maya.
