    JUST DROP

Once a Crow, holding on to a piece of meat was flying to a place to sit & eat peacefully...

However, a flock of Eagles who  were flying nearby started chasing it.

The crow became scared & anxious. It started flying higher and higher, yet the much stronger eagles were after the poor crow.

Just then "Garuda" saw the plight and  pain in the eyes of the crow. Coming closer to the crow, he asked:

"What's wrong, dear? You seem to be very "disturbed" and in terrible "stress"?"..

The crow cried "Look at these eagles!! They are after me - to kill me".

Garuda being the bird of wisdom spoke "Oh my friend!! They are not after you to kill you!! In fact, they are after that piece of meat that you are holding tightly in your beak". Just drop it and see what happens.

The crow followed the advice of Garuda and dropped the piece of meat, and lo & behold..
All the eagles in a mad rush flew towards the falling meat.

Garuda smiled and said "The Pain is only till you hold on to it" Just Drop" it & release the "Pain"..

The crow just bowed and said "Thank You for your wise advice.. I dropped this piece of meat & now, I can fly even higher without tension.."

There is a message in this story for all of us :

    1. People carry  the huge burden called "Ego," which creates a false identity about oneself, like -  " I am so & so, I should be loved, I need to be respected, I need to be invited.. etc...  ..

Just Drop - this silly "Ego" & assumption about yourself & see what happens..

    2. People get irritated instantly by "others actions or words" .. It could be anyone -  friend,  parents, children, colleagues, spouse etc..... and instantly the sparks of Anger get ignited & one starts fuming ..

Just Drop.... this senseless "negative feeling" & see what happens..

    3. People compare themselves with others.. in beauty, wealth, life style, marks, talent and appraisals and get disturbed & insecure...
forgetting the fact that We must be grateful with what we have ...  .."

Just Drop...- these silly comparisons, negative emotions & see what happens..

Some people are attached in a negative way to their jobs, their material possessions, their dear ones..which creates more harm than good..

Just Drop..detach yourself.. drop the burden of attachment & see what happens..

But then why are we given the ability to do things called sinful? & Why, then, are we punished for doing exactly what God has created and given the ability for us to do? (question also posted in thread to ask sant jagjit singh)

Though this is quite an old thread, yet many may have similar doubts.

So in this respect, it could well be said, that everybody knows smoking is injurious to health, yet people do smoke ...

Everybody knows alcohol and drug consumption are also injurious to health, yet people do get into drugs and drinking...

Evrybody knows one should not exceed the speed limits, yet people get fined for it and cause fatal accidents ....

People know, jealousy, hatred, lies, ego, greed, untruthfulness .... are all bad, yet they enjoy  getting dirty in that mud of ignorance and malice ...

So you see, we are who in spite of knowing the rules and regulations, we do break them, so naturally we have to learn to behave, and unless we learn it, nature goes giving us chances upon chances, until we mature, whether by good ways or by the hard ways .

So is the purpose of the cycle of 84, unless we become good human beings in order to evolve spiritually and reach our True Home, we shall keep on stumbling in the mayavee creation.

How to stay healthy by being positive and eliminating the negative.

An elderly man went to a hospital for his routine medical check up. When his Blood Pressure was taken, it was  120/80.

The doctor on duty who was awestruck picked up the result and looked at it over and over again for about 10 minutes, and said, “Sir, this is unbelievable! You have an incredible BP.

Does it mean you don’t go through any stress at all? What’s the secret?”

The man smiled and said, “this has been your colleagues’ question overtime. I have always told them that it was a gift from God, which is correct in actual sense. But let me tell you what has been making that gift work.

I can’t wait to know the secret, the doctor interjected.

“When I was young, my father taught me that if I want to overcome negative S, I must embrace two positive S.

The doctor who was eager to know those S interrupted him again. What are the negative and positive S, Sir?

“The negative S includes: stress, sickness, sorrow, suffering, etc. My dad said, if I could manage stress, I won’t have much health challenge. I later discovered he was telling me the truth as I embraced his two positive S. The man paused.

I hope no problem, Sir? The doctor asked.

“No problem, doctor. I remembered my glorious dad of a blessed memory. He was a great man, doctor.

“The positive S  includes: Smile and Silence. Smile can solve problem and Silence can avoid problems. To achieve this, you must:

“Select the right people to travel with you in your journey of life at all times and make your life sweeter.

“On deity, choose the Almighty God. Thereafter, if you fail to achieve your dreams, change your ways, not your God. The trees change their leaves and not their roots.

“Stop looking Sideways when you are emotionally distracted. You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.

“Sayings of people should not work you up. Even when haters see you walking on water they will say it’s because you can't swim. If you like, dance on the water, they will accuse you of raising dust.

“Start to live a quiet life; mind your own business; and work with your own hands.

“Social cleanliness rule is, never wrestle with a pig. Though, both of you will get dirty, but the pig enjoys it.

“So, knowing all these, I always Smile and keep Silence. That’s the secret!”

“WOW! In my entire life I have never met a man like you. I want to see more of you. Now I know that greater lessons are learnt outside the classroom, the doctor concluded.

Stay blessed and keep counting your blessings

Do have a great journey in life of peace gentility harmony and love.

    Brother Maha Paapi,

the whole world is drown in kaam, rarely is someone as a gurmukh far above it.

We all make mistakes, but we have to learn from them and not commit them again, because if we have commited once,  and we sincerely repent for it,  and ask Him to forgive, then He is bakshanhaar, sad Mehervaan, He will surely forgive us.

But then, we have to bear in mind, that we have promised to Someone who is omniscient and omnipresent, and we should never ever commit those mistakes, for He is not a person whom we can fool.

So be careful in that sense, that is it.

Now relax and do not hurt yourself any more with distress, be thankful to Him that at least you feel guilty and want to become a better person, and in order to relief yourself  love Him from the bottom of your heart, and increase it by listening/reading His katha and keertan, plus wash your mind with His purifying simran on a regular daily basis.

    Stay blessed.

    The Power of Prayer

There is a story of about a sea captain who in his retirement skippered a boat taking day-trippers to Shetland Islands.

On one trip, the boat was full of young people.

They laughed at the old captain when they saw him say a prayer before sailing out, because the day was fine and the sea was calm.

However they weren't long at sea when a storm suddenly blew up and the boat began to pitch violently.

The terrified passengers came to the captain and asked him to join them in prayer.

But he replied, *"I say my prayers when it's calm. When it's rough I attend to my ship."

Here is a lesson for us:

If we cannot and will not seek God in quiet moments of our lives; we are not likely to find Him when trouble strikes.

We are more likely to panic.

But if we have learnt to seek Him and trust Him in quiet moments, then most certainly we will find Him when the going gets rough.

    Learning a lesson from  a rabbit  🐰

A  Rabbit entered in a shop and asked: "Do you have carrots?".

They said, "no we don't have."

The following day the rabbit came to the shop and asked again, "Do you have carrots?"

They replied angrily, " We said we don't have carrots, if you come back again asking, we gonna screw a nail in your head with a hammer!"

The third day the rabbit came yet again and asked, "Do you have a hammer?

    They replied, "NO."

    He said, "What about nails?"

    They said, "NO."

Then he calmly asked, "Do you have carrots?" 🤣😅
Don't let the devil scare you, he doesn't have anything.

    Just pursue your dreams.

    Have a fabulous smiling moment

I reading on this website things,  and humbly ask for some answers to my question.

Q1) When I try to do simran I can feel that this point between eyes, there is something. I don't know what it is but there is something definitely here it feels so peaceful.

Q2) So please help to understand of what this is. But also how to move to next stage, I don't even know what next stage is.

    Thanks so much

    SSA Guest Jee, welcome.

A1) The point between the 2 eyes you mention while doing simran, is the door  which allows us to enter the spiritual realms or dimensions. It is also the gateway to reach our Nijh Ghar, there is a lot into it,  unlimited parkash, unlimited dhun, even Waheguru   can  be met by entering into it, but for that purpose simran is the key.  With simran we get our surtee focused at that point, which is very much necessary to pierce the dark veil when we close our eyes.

And you feeling something while there, is a mark of His apaar kirpa on you, so please continue with this your devotion, it is the least we can do respond to His pull.

A2) Trust Him, if He has allowed you to experience of tasting a sip of that bliss, it means there is much more He wants to give you within, so the best thing is not to analyze, just give your "self" to Him, and He Himself will guide and take you further.   Just enjoy while being there and stay focused in your simran;  with due time and grace, the Shabad Guru within, will Himself guide you within and answer your queries if any, for in the presence of the Shabad Guru, all doubts just vanish away.

Trust Him, have faith in Him and love Him, the more simran you do, the more He is pleased, and the more He is pleased, the more He showers His daya meher, and this pleasing Him, is the secret in spirituaility to achieve our goal of merging in Him.

       Stay blessed.

Thanks bhaji - sometimes I wonder how evil itself was created? Couldn’t Waheguru just create good only and no evil would exist at all otherwise it’s like stressful headache mixing good and evil. I imagine if Waheguru had not made evil as existence then this earth would be heaven itself

Brother, what you so call evil is something very relative, and it is something which comes in our way for our growth as better spiritual beings.

First of all, everything that exists, has come out of Him.

And as the Bani says: Sabh Gobind hae. And as we all know, Waheguru is the source of all goodness and wisdom, so naturally nothing bad can come from Him. Apart from Him, everything is transitory, thus perishable, including heavens, astral or causal paradises such as Swarg or Baikunth.

The Bani says: EKAS BIN SABH DANDH HAE.

Only Waheguru and His abode Sach Khand are true and eternal. And that is where we belong to, our true home. It is our ignorance, if we say earth could be heaven if evil did not exist.

When parents send their children to the Uni, it is only to grow intellectually and get a degree by mastering several subjects, with hard work and honesty, which means we are mature,  and well prepared to face life with bravery and courage. But if the student does not pay attention to the education and gets lost into wrong company,  that student can be thrown out of the school or uni.

In a similar way, we souls, are sent into the creation to learn and become mature spiritual wise, if we succeed in that purpose, we go back home sooner by His apaar kirpa.

But if we mess with bad company and loose our goal out of our sight, we get failed.

But unlike the school or uni, we are not sacked out, because by His  infinite grace, we are given opportunity after opportunity with the law of karmas and the wheel of 84, to grow to that desired high level of consciousness, get passed, thus ready to return back home.

So you see, in our ignorance,  instead to grow spiritual/consciousness wise, and return back to our true home, where our Father is awaiting us, we want to make a permanent residence in an alien land which will one day vanish, thus be a cause to increase our pain and agony.

Our  only solution is Gurbani, if we pay attention to the teachings of Guru Sahiban and Bhagat Jan, and implement them in our daily lives, we shall definietely fulfill the purpose of becoming mature and pure enough, to return back to our true home, of our proud true Father, Waheguru Akal Purukh.

In short, the underline message of the Bani to be paid attention is:

    Ik Oankar, Satgur parsad, jap.

This is the indescribable greatness of Guru and Bani.

    Stay blessed.

  10. *TAMING THE WILD*
    ------------------------------------

One day a person climbed up a mountain where a hermit woman was meditating. The person asked,

“What are you doing here alone in such a solitude place ?”

    To which she replied,

“I have lots of work !”

“And how can you have so much work ? I don't see anything around you here...?” He asked.

“I have to train two Hawks and two Eagles,  assure two Rabbits, discipline one Snake , motivate a Donkey and tame a Lion ...!"

“And, where have they gone that I don't see any one of them ?”

“I have them all inside here within me...!!"

✓ " The Hawks stare on everything that is presented to me, good or bad, I have to work on them to see only good things. They are my Eyes."

✓ " The two Eagles with their claws hurt and destroy, I have to train them not to hurt. They are my hands."

✓ " Rabbits want to go where they want, at the same time they do not want to face difficult situations, I have to teach them to be calm even if there is suffering or stumbling.  They are my feet."

✓ " The Donkey is always tired, stubborn and does not want to carry the load each time I walk. That is my body !"

✓ " The most difficult to tame is the 'Snake'. Although it is locked in a strong cage with 32 bars, it is always ready to sting, bite and poison anyone nearby. I have to discipline it. That's my tongue."

" And yes, I also have One Lion. Oh how proud, vain, he thinks that "he is the king." I have to tame him. And that's my EGO."

" So you see, my friend, I have  lots of work, taming the wild .....! “

Bhaji I have one more question, why doesn’t Waheguru remind us of our past birth karma so that we can correct the specific situation in order to make our current life more smoother? Would that not make more sense? Maybe some second sensor in brain where we could turn on and check past karma from past birth and go there to correct it just a thought process

    Brother Guru ka Daas,

who says Waheguru has not warned us and also given us the method or technique to get out of this mayavee painful creation.

Our current situation is like someone caught drowning  in the mud, and when a passerby sees him, extends his arm to pull him out, then the one drowning asks questions such as : how am I here? Or who are you, and why do you want to take me out? We may laugh at these questions, but that is our reality.

Our priority now is to get ourselves saved and not waste the time foolishly, we can get the answers once outside.

The fact is also, that we do not learn even from the mistakes in our present life, so what guarantee is there that we will not continue making those same and more mistakes in past lives for which we are trapped here.

Also, it is not only the awareness of our mistakes which will prevent us from incurring in them, it is more to it, we have to hold on the strong hand of Guru Jee to be pulled out, rest assured that we have not done so in our past lives that is why we are still in the wheel of 84 or endless cycles of births and deaths.

In the following 2 verses, Guru Jee in clear and simple words, tells us in short how to get ourselves saved and return back to our Nijh Ghar in Sach Khand, in the lap of Sachay Patshah Waheguru Akal Purukh.

     (865-6)
    ramat raam janam maran nivaarai.
Uttering the Lord's Name, birth and death are finished.

    (865-6)
    uchrat raam bhai paar utaarai.
Repeating the Lord's Name, one crosses over the terrifying world-ocean.

    Char padarath, je ko mange

Sadh jana ki, seva lage ||

    Char padarth are known as:

    1. Dharam - Discipline. Understanding of his or her duties i.e virtues(Ethics)

    2. Arath - Assets. he or she has no shortage of money, precious metals, pearls etc & has obtained the desired wealth.

    3. Kaam - Desire. His or her all desired gets fulfilled from marriage to children.

    4. Moksh - Liberation. He or she attains emancipation.

After reading the above pankti it just seems like marg of sadh jana ki seva is also parvan in Sikhi. Now main question comes down to, what is context of seva of sadh jana in this above pankiti? is it simply doing seva of singular sadh? or is it doing seva of everyone seeing jot of sadh/murshid in everyone? or above pankiti means seva of sadh sangat/sat sangat.

    Please discuss..! :sikh:

    Brother,

Sadh janaa kee sewa, as per my understanding, is the sewa or sadhna to perfom as advised  by those who were the perfect embodiment of the virtue of "saadhkee", just our Guru Sahiban at our human level, or the Bhagat Jan.

The advised devotion by them was the one of Nam bhakti as highest.

That is why the Bani tells us: awar kaaj (practices, rituals, bhakti, worship of any kind ) teray kittay na kaam, mil Sadh sangat, bhaj "kewal" Nam.

I don't think Bani could be more clear in this respect.

Thank you to both of you for replies, I really appreciate it. My mother’s grandmother used to say, “Purbala Da Likha Paiyea”. It is quite possible that previous birth karmas is the reason of my suffering, sadness, obstacles and betrayals which I am getting. I do think of these things a lot in my life, for example many bad people in this world but when they turn to prayer, or start doing good deeds, their life changes for the good - so how is that a possibility? While when I see good people do good karam they still suffer or bad people do bad yet they are blessed in every way of life...some things seem confusing though I am no guru so I cannot complain I can only accept my fate

    Brother Guru ka Daas,

please do not analyze yourself so much, mind tends to get us confused and negative.

Just be clear that absolutely nothing happens without a cause behind it, howsoever it may not be understandable to us, for just as every fruit we see, it is because there was surely a seed sown for it, otherwise it would be impossible.

Good people suffering or bad people apparently happy, has to do also with their past karam, not because of anything of their present life. Just as anything we see in a film or movie, it is because previously those acts have been recorded, not because current shots are being added in that film.

Current recordings will be seen in the next forthcoming chapters.

Just think, if things did not happen as per the law of karma, this creation would be in chaos, that is why also things do not always happen as per individual petty and limited wishes or desires, but according to some higher level of consciousness which is universal, accurate and impartial.

Our love and devotion for Waheguru, has to be solely for the sake of loving Him, not as an insurance policy to get something in exchange in case of any undesired events, that would be more like a commercial transaction, rather than love for Him.

If He is Dayal Purukh, how can He for example make someone make blind, deaf, lame, insane, sick, poor....etc.

That type of god, would not be worthy of our love and devotion.

Our love for Waheguru, has to be pure, desireles,  just as a mother loves her child, she loves the child not because of anything in return, but just for the sake of loving the child. Her love sprouts out naturally without any efforts from her side.

In a similar way, we should love Waheguru. If it is difficult for us to love Him because He is formless, we can imagine any of our Guru Sahiban as a support for our mind, and then with the grace of the mantra of His simran, enter the subtler spiritual realms, have the darshan of His formless Jot, and with the aid of Shabad Guru, reach our Nijh Ghar, Sach Khand.

Prabh ka simran mun kee mael jaae(all of our karmas, vikars, evil tendencies, which hold us as prisoners in the painful mayavee creation)

Then also, the Bani says: Prabh ka simran garb na baseh.

It is only by selfless love, that one can merge in Him, and that is exactly what Guru Sahiban and Bhagat Jan, teach us to do through Gurbani.

Shri Waheguru Ji Da Khalsa, Shri Waheguru Ji De Fateh,

Satsriakal to all my brothers and sisters on this forum. I hope everyone is safe and sound along with their family and friends. I needed some advice or suggestions from my fellow Sikhs. I do my daily required prayers, I try to stay positive, I do socialize and try to stay happy but my life has been continuously troublesome and negative. Please see below of how it’s negative and need tips suggestions to improve my life:

    1. My father passed away when I was 6 years old, was attached with him a lot.
    2. Struggle in family disputes, arguments, struggle in studies
    3. Betrayal from family and friends
    4. Continuously obstacles keep happening no matter how hard I try to succeed in life
    5. Wife left forever so ended up in divorce.
    6. No siblings it’s just me and mom the house feels empty.
    7. Attempting re-marriage but women these days either have behavior problem or attitude not good, or they want to pressurize the guy in their own ways.

I am not understanding that despite my devotion to Waheguru / Gurus / Banis why is everything negative happening and no good outcome happening? I don’t drink I don’t smoke I don’t get angry but there is just something wrong somewhere something is not right

    SSA Guru ka Daas jee,

Please bear in mind that everything that happens, does not happen  just like that without any apparent reason though beyond our understanding, but only due to our very own past karam, not because we are doing something wrong now.

Your present devotion towards Waheguru is only to get strength to face any ups and downs in life, for He is our true friend and anchor at all times.

This is a common mistake which most of us make, for we think that if we devote ourselves to Him, nothing bad will happen to us.

The law of karma, is His also His  hukum, which nobody can alter, it is only that we do not see nor know the burden of karmas we are carrying on our heads.

Waheguru is also known Dayal Purukh, He is all mercy and love, He does not deliberately send us any pain or discomfort,  and to know Him,  we have to arise within ourselves by doing the bhakti which takes us within, there where He is, once within, and having His darshan, then only we get that finer understanding, and then only will we able to say : tera bhaana meetha laagay, then only our faith in Him will be strong like a rock, meanwhile we will be quite shaky whenever we receive the blows of our own karmas,  nevertheless we should stay at His door at all times and circumstances , in that lies our welfare.

    Stay blessed.
