    Guru Arjan Dev (1563-1606)

Guru Arjan was born in Goindwal, a small town in Amritsar district, on April 15, 1563.

He was the youngest son of Guru Ram Das and Bibi Bhani.

As a child, one day he found his way to the bed of Guru Amar Das who was then resting.

His mother ran to fetch the child before he could disturb the Guru.

But he had already awakened the Guru, who revealed, "Let him come to me; 'yeh mera dohita bani ka bohita howega'- this grandson of mine shall be a ship to take mankind across the ocean of the world."

Guru Arjan was married to Ganga, daughter of Krishen Chand, a resident of Meo village near Phillor in Jullundhur district.

The marriage took place in 1589 when he was about 26 years old.

Guru Ram Das began excavation of two tanks named Santokhsar and Amritsar and started the foundation of the city of Ramdaspur.

After his father, Guru Arjan applied himself to the task of completing the tanks and extending the city.

It was his practice to go every day and superintend the work.

    Brother Harmanpreet,

the biggest mistake which one inflicts on oneself, is that having had a human life to be able to reunite with Him, Waheguru Akal Purukh, by washing all our sins with the Amrit Bani within us, then too we do nothing in that diection. Thus we are condemning ourselves.

So, if we do not wash our sins, by doing that what as Guru Jee says in the Bani : Prabh ka simran man kee mel jaae,  how will our sins be ever pardoned?

What is mel in the verse above? It is the accumulated karmas/sins on our mind since we left our Father´s house, Sach Khand and started our residence in the Triloki mayavee and perishable creation.

So you see, nobody from outside can wash that dirt, it is,  we ourselves, with our love, our faith, our bhakti, as per Gurbani, which makes us receptive to His grace, which ultimately cleanses us throughly, and in the end is the cause of us becoming pure and  merging in Him.

In this sense the Bani says: Prabh ka simran garb na vaseh.  If we meditate on Him, we shall not be born again, for then there shall be no karmas left, for His simran wipes away all our karmas/sins.

He is ever Dayalu, Ke knows how weak ad low we are, for that purpose, He has kept the medicine within each and everyone of us in the same measure, in order to intake that medcine of Nam, and become pure/paviter.

    That is His beant wadeeayee.

    Stay blessed.

    Naanak Sach Dhhiaaein Sach ||

    नानक सचु धिआइनि सचु ॥

O Nanak, true are those who meditate on the True One.

In the beautiful verse above of Guru Jee , we are clearly told who are truly true....  Some may think, oh I proudly perform so and so japs, taps, poojas, paaths, peregrinations, or are strongly established in ther dharam by following its rules and regulations, so I must be doing, at least some good/correct worship, if not all  of them ....

Guru Jee, as seen in the verse above, warns us, do no stay deluded in your manmukhta,  for "TRUE ALONE ARE THOSE  WHO  MEDITATE  UPON  HIM", for it this their bhakti  as per Gurmat, which will merge their souls in Him, and this is the sole purpose of Sikhee.

Needless to say, let us sincerely ask ourselves, do we really do, only that what Guru Jee tells us to do?

For we are not to please the world, it is to Guru Jee and Waheguru Akal Purukh whom we have to please.

You meant naam tera kesro lei chhitkaare...

    Exactly that I meant

But u didn't add that pankti. Only sandalwood tilak..

Anyhow, it does not make much difference, for the jaap of His Nao,  can add any good/beautiful, valuable, pure things,  which one may  want to offer Him in love and devotion.  The thing is, He is not wanting any such things from us, but, Guru Sahiban/Guru Jee, is pointing us that, if ever one wants to offer Him anything, like in any other dharam/mazab, then the only thing which pleases Him, is when we do the jaap of His Nao. The underline of bhakti and love for Him, can  very well be summarized in the jaap of His Nao.

If I may ask you your avastha @harsharan000

Brother, I do not mean fake humility, but truly, my avastha is a a big zero. I am very much a huge paapi,  with the same ups and downs as any other being on earth, we are all in the same boat  as long we have not tatsted the  Ambrosial sweet Nectar  of His Saacha Nao.

The only thing I think which may make any difference, is the age factor, for when many are learning to walk and discover life, I have walked quite a bit, so I do like to share my whatsoever experiences which life has taught me, just as I had wished when I was younger, someone as an elder friend would have guided me.

But, I have learnt lessons by myself, then also, by His kirpa I have been blessed with good sangat, which is essential to be on the road, inspite of any climatical adversities(karmas).  It is always easier to face adversities when in sangat, for in it, one gets, inspiration, courage, and some sort of emotional support, all these very much necessary.

    That´s it, not much more.

as I am enchanted by your gyaan' would you mind sharing

In my humble opinion, my knowledge if any, is of the Gyan of Sikhee, which  in essence, if  can ever be described in short or let us say direct to the point, it would only be that much:

     Ik Oankar    Satnam     Gurparsad Jap.

One thing which I have noted, is that we do not pay much attention to what Guru is telling us throughly in the Bani. Many go through it just like parrots, without understanding it, but just like swimming up in a pool. Gurbani has to be savoured, each and every word in it has to be paid due attention, the wealth of Gurbani is achieved when we go through it, reflecting upon  to what Guru Jee is saying in it, and then apply it in our  daily life with faith and devotion. That is what Gurbani is for. To profit our souls with it, thus be able to reunite our souls with Him, the True Lord Waheguru Akal Purukh, with the link of Hs saacha Nao, not any otherwise.

Sorry, if I have hurt you with whatever I have said.

    Stay blessed.

  6. How do you make Kesar Tilak?

Though there are several ways to make kesar tilak according to mankind,  but there is also another way according to the most wise,  only  if we follow Gurmat.

For as Guru Jee clearly tells us in the Bani :

    ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਭੁਲਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਚੰਦਨੋ ਘਸਿ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਕਉ ਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

Naam Thaeraa Anbhulaa Naam Thaero Chandhano Ghas Japae Naam Lae Thujhehi Ko Chaarae ||1||

    नामु तेरा अ्मभुला नामु तेरो चंदनो घसि जपे नामु ले तुझहि कउ चारे ॥१॥

Your Name is the water, and Your Name is the sandalwood. The chanting of Your Name is the grinding of the sandalwood. I take it and offer all this to You

So sangat jee, His Nam Simran, is not only the kesar tilak to be offered and applied on Him, but it is something much more than  that, it is an absolute image of the highest love and devotion, which one can offer to the most beloved:  Waheguru Akal Purukh.

    As simple as that.

    On being judgemental

We judge others when we think we are superior and other people are inferior to us.

We think we are much better human beings and they are an inferior type of human being….

The purpose of meditation of Nam bhakti is to eliminate the ego.

When one is able to eliminate the ego, then you don’t think you are superior at all….

And then you start realizing what your real self is, your insignificance.

And when that realization comes, we don’t see humans at all, we see his light in every human being.

We become humble before Waheguru Akal Purukh,  the Father of all and everything...

    The Shabd is in all.

When we direct our consciousness within

    and realize the Shabd,

we begin to understand the folly of self

    and the oneness of everything.

We begin to comprehend that everything is God’s will

    – that all is exactly as it is supposed to be.

    That understanding becomes complete

when our consciousness goes beyond the mind,

when we can escape the separate, sad, lonely world of the self

and see the Lord inside us and everyone.

The piece which I enjoyed reading:

" Amma, I am going to the Mall along with my wife and daughter.  Please take care of the house"

" OK Son.  You go ahead.  Already my legs are paining.  I am not interested in coming to the Mall.  You go ahead."

" Grandma, you should also come" insisted the grand daughter ...

" Grandma cannot climb all those steps in the Mall.  She does not know how to use the escalator.  As there are no temples there, Grandma would not be interested.

She is interested only in going to temples"  said the daughter in law.

Though Grandma agreed with this statement, Grand daughter was adamant.  She refused to come to the Mall if Grandma was not accompanying.  Though Grandma repeated that she was not interested, she could not enforce her will against her dear ten year old Granddaughter.  She agreed to accompany them.

Grandaughter was very happy.  Father asked everyone to get dressed up.  Before her parents could get ready, the oldest and the youngest were ready.

The youngster took her grand Ma to the front room.  She drew two parallel lines, a foot apart.  She told her grandmother that it was a game and the old lady had to pretend that she was a Crane ( Bird).
She had to keep one leg within the lines and raise the other leg by three inches.
" What is this my dear?"  asked Grandma...
" This is the Crane game Grandma.  I will show you how to play."

Both of them played a few times before the father could bring the Car....Grandma became adept in the game.

They reached the Mall and when they reached the moving steps (escalator), father and mother were wondering how the elderly lady would travel in that.

Grandaughter took Grandma near the escalator and asked her to play the Crane game.  Grandma raised her right foot and kept it one of the moving steps and raised her left leg by three inches and could easily reach the next moving step.

This way, effortlessly she used the escalator to reach the higher level, to the wonder of her son and daughter in law.

With her successful debut, Grandma and the grand daughter moved up and down several times on the escalator and were enjoying the fun.

They then went to the theatre to see a movie.  As it was cold inside, grandaughter took out a shawl from her bag and covered the old lady, with a mischievous smile.

She came prepared for this!  After the movie, they went to the restaurant.

When son asked his mother for the dish to be ordered, his daughter took away the menu and thrust it in the hands of Grandma.

"You know how to read; better go through the menu and order whatever you want".  Grandma decided about the items to be eaten.

After meals, Grandma and the grand daughter played some video games.

Before leaving for home, Grandma went to the toilet.  Using that occasion, the father asked his daughter how she knew so much about his mother which as a son, he was not aware.

Prompt came the response: " Dad, when an young child is brought out of home, how many  preparations are made - milk bottles, diapers, wipes etc.!?....

Your  mother would have also done all these things for you.

Why not you show the same consideration for your mother?

Why did you presume that the elderly would be interested only in temples.   They also have normal desires like going to mall, enjoying all the fun.

Since they may not openly express it, we have to compel them to enjoy these things"

Father was speechless.  However he was happy that he learnt a new lesson from his ten year old daughter.....

What exactly are you trying to convey? Of course naam is supreme! And "avar kaaj tere kine na kaam" Japping naam is utmost and only important thing to do...

I am not discouraging any one to do path.. I am only asking to shunn off smartness in front of the Gurujii and do path with love than counting numbers..

A stage may come in the life of a sadhak ((as we may get answer to how Baba Deep Singh ji and other Mahapurush had high number Japji Or naam for that matter )) is absorbed into their Rom Rom and one path can be equivalent to 72 crores then.

But thas AVASTHA. .. only via Gurprasad!

You have very well said above:  "avar kaaj tere kine na kaam" Japping naam is utmost and only important thing to do...

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do not think it is that much difficult to say what I am trying to convey from the verses of Gurbani above, moreover I have highlighted in yellow some key points.

Why does it seem you that you are discouraging anyone, when that is not the case even ?  I have not directly nor indirectly mentioned nor reffered anything of your post.

It is very much correct on your side when you ask them to shunn off smartness and perform their devotion with love than numbers....  so nothing wrong in it.

Though Gurparsad may have a quite a deep meaning which we may not be aware of it in its true measure, but for the meanwhile, the Gurparsad could very well  be the following verse, when Guru Jee tells us :  JAP mun SATNAM  sadah SATNAM.

So here we can see that Guru Jee is definitely and precisely telling us what to do the jaap of, as per His kirpa showered on us, and that is the jaap of SATNAM.

People are free to do what they think fit, nobody can force anything on anybody, neither it should be attempted.

But yes, that much can be done, every time anybody says or writes which is not as per Gurbani, it should be humbly contrasted with the supreme Truth of Guru Jee as in the very Gurbani, the source of unpolluted and highest Truth without any foolish human manipulation/twisted misnterpretation.

Because then they are following manmat, not Gurmat.

But then too, nothing is in our hands, because  Guru Jee says, to whomsoever He wants to bring back to Himself, He engages them into Nam bhakti/kamaee, to go within themselves and find Him there, no other short cut, nor other way.  For, if He is ONE, the way to Him has to be one, and that one way leading us to Him, is the one of Nam, for as the Bani says: Nanak Nam jahaaz hae, jinee chareeya se utareeya paar.

To cross the mahabhavsagar and reach Him, we have to board on the ONE vessel of NAM.

Each and every soul/jeevatma has originated from Nam, thus Nam bhakti is the path as per Gurbani, to reach Him alone.

how do you get rid of doubts?

The best way to get rid of blind faith and  doubts , is by own personal experience.

And sikhee provides all the tools to do so.

No doubt sikhee is all about establishing a bond, a relationship of total love with the highest level of consciousness, the ultimate everlasting  and changeless Truth, to which First Patshahee right in the very beginning of the Bani calls it Sat Nam.

Jug Chaarae Naam Outham Sabadh Beechaar
Throughout the four ages, the Naam is the ultimate/Highest; reflect upon the Word of the Shabad
    Raag Gauri Guaarayree

    Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj.

In the above verse, Guru Jee is telling us, that throughout the 4 yugas upon yugas, countless incarnations of trinties, gods, devtays, prophets may come and go, but, it is Nam alone, which is constant and changeless  throughout all the 4 yugas, thus beyond the parameters of time and space.

The duty of the countless trinties is only to keep going on the nashvant creations, worlds, spheres. They come only to establish righteoousness when the weight of sins becomes too heavy, in our case, of Mother Earth.

    That´s it.

The abode of the central deity of the trinities is Baikunth, very much under the realms of Maya, thus perishable in Parlay or Mahaparlay. Meanwhile, the abode of the ultimate Parbrahm Truth is  Sach Khand, which is far beyond the cycles of creations and dissolutions, thus eternal and changeless. It is Satnam what we have to look for alone, in order to escape from the clutches of maya and death, and become immortal, means we are not anymore subject to births and deaths.

And to this Truth of Satnam/Nam/Shabad/Amrit Bani/Sachee Bani/Dhur kee Bani...etc ... is the only reality to which we have to devote ourselves, for it is this very Power which will ferry us from the false and perishable creations/realms, to the eternal and changeless abode of that ultimate Truth, namely Sach Khand

This ultimate Truth as per Bani can be realized within the living temple of our human body, known also as Har mandir.

Now the thing is, that to realize Him within us is totally true, but at the same time it can never be done all by ourselves.

Nobody can ever succeed in doing so, unless He showers His kirpa on that particular jeev atma.

In that respect, almost all of us may have heard and read in Asa Ki War, the following verses:

    Bin Satgur kinnay na paayo

    Bis Satgur kinnay na paaya.

Moreover,  let us see what Sree Guru Ram Das is telling us in the following verse below:

    ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ

Jan Oopar Kirapaa Prabh Dhhaaree Mil Sathigur Paar Paraa ||1|| Rehaao ||

God has showered His Mercy upon His humble servant; meeting with the True Guru, he is carried across.

Mukat, bhugat, jugat tayree sayvaa, jis toon  aap karaa-ihi.
    Liberation, comfort and proper lifestyle comes from devoting You;
and that also, to whom you make him do it

Naanak ka-o parabh bha-ay kirpaalaa, Satgur pooraa paa-i-aa.
God has become compassionate to Nanak; I have found the Perfect True Guru

Raag Soohee, Sree Guru Arjun Dev

Jin Ko Thumh Har Maelahu Suaamee Thae Nhaaeae Santhokh Gur Saraa ||

Those whom You unite with Yourself, O Lord and Master, bathe in the Guru's cleansing pool of contentment.

Now, the question arises how does Guru Jee ferry us across?

Well, He says, you are too heavy with countless sins, I will surely make you cross to Sach Khand, but for that you have to get cleansed thoroughly from all your dirt accumulated upon your soul since you left Sach Khand eons ago.

For that purpose  Guru Jee gives us the soap of Nam, and the water of His grace, to wash away  all our impurities.

Our daily devotion to Nam, which is constantly repeated again and again throughout the Bani, is that our cleansing thoroughly;  slowly, but for sure progressive, depending on how sincere we are in this our offering our love and devotion at His Lotus Feet, through Nam bhakti.

Prabh Ka Simran, manh kee mael jaaey, Prabh ka Simran garb na baseh.

Once we are cleansed from all our impurities and become spotless, and become fit to merge in Him,  Guru Jee extends His powerful arm to pull us and we board  the vessel of Nam, which carries us directly to Sach Khand, the True home of our True Father, Satnam.

Such is beauty and reality of the teachings of Guru Jee,namely Sikhee.

    Stay blessed.

We have all heard, God is Love and Love is God.

It is by the link of Love, by which we attach ourselves with Him, and finally merge in Him.

Dasvee Patshahee says :  Saach keho suun laeho sabhay, jin praem keeo tin hee prabh paaeyo.

I speak the truth, listen everyone: Only the one who is lovingly absorbed in True Love shall attain the Lord.

Now, the question is how to Love Waheguru.

Do we need to say or repeat Him constantly : Waheguru I love You, I love You ..... ?

That is not the right attitude.

Even at our worldly level, when we love someone, we try not to do anything which may  cause hurt or displease our beloved ones, and also the main thing is to spend as much time as possible in the company of the Beloved.

So then, how can we express our love to our Beloved Waheguru Akal Purukh?

And as we saw above,  Tenth Patshahee says, whosoever loveth Him, shall merge in Him.

Here, He is revealing us the secret of spirituality, that merging in Him, is only possible by loving Him.

And we all know, that only by His Simran, His Dhyan, can we realize Him and merge in Him.

It has to be so, as we do His  simran, we spend  a part of our time in His presence , this is in reality singing His praises, and telling Him in His own langauge, the language of love, Waheguru Sachay Patshah, I love You alone.

Waheguru does not want any words from us, He wants our intentions to be expressed through action, and these can can only be possible through the channel of bhakti of His Nam Simran.

Gurmukhs, Sant Janas, come for the only purpose of making us aware of our spiritual nature, and at the same time infuse a bit of His love in us, by singing His infinite glory, then they plead us, to make grow that love in us for Him through His Simran, till the day comes, when we find ourselves totally filled with His Divine Love in all our being, then only, our tiny self of Love(soul/jeeva) can merge in that Satnam Samundar of Love.

Thus, the beautiful words of Dasam Pitah, become true in terms of realization for us: Jin prem kiyo, tinhee Prabh paayo.

    Sat Sree Akal.

    A TRIBUTE TO MOTHER´S LOVE

One day Thomas Edison came home and gave a paper to his mother.

He told her, “My teacher gave this paper to me and told me to only give it to my mother.”

His mother’s eyes were tearful as she read the letter out loud to her child, “Your son is a genius.

This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him.

    Please teach him yourself.”

Many years after Edison’s mother had died, Edison had become one of the greatest inventors of the century.

One day he was going through the old closet and he found a folded letter which was given to him by his teacher for his mother.

    He opened it.

The message written on the letter was, “Your son is mentally ill.

We can not let him attend our school anymore. He is expelled.”

Edison became emotional reading it and then he wrote in his diary, “Thomas Alva Edison was a mentally ill child whose mother turned him into the genius of the century.”

Moral: A Mother’s love and upbringing can help change the destiny of a child.

Exhale sound "Guru " is ok.

It is not only ok, but desirable and recommended also, for to progress further, one has to become unaware of the body and surroundings.

It is our mind fully which ultimately has to do the jaap in order to enter the subtler realms.

So don't worry, you are on the right tracks.

    Stay blessed.

  16. Dr Santosh Kadam shares some  tips for improving our immunity on his FB page:

1)Our digestive system plays a primary role in preservation of immunity.

    a) Easy digestible food is the key. Dal-Rice with non spicy vegetable OR Moong Dal Khichadi are the best examples.
Freshly ground spices like Cumin, Black-pepper, Coriander Seeds, Cinnamon, Ginger, Garlic, Cardamom etc. can be used to keep digestive fire at optimum level. Strictly avoid heavy to digest food even if it’s made at home. No binging. All packaged and outside foods are high risk.

b)Soups are the best foods to improve digestive fire and bring a  bit of sweating in the body which is supposed to be good to combat any type of infection.
Make sure of not using tomatoes and chillies in the soup. Instead of that, water from boiled Dal as the Base, which is high in protein still light on stomach, and some vegetables with spices like pepper, etc. should be the best option.

c)Herbal Tea with Lemon Grass, Ginger, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Tulsi, Mint and few Green tea leaves is a great immuno-boosting drink. Lemon can be squeezed on the top optionally. We can make this at once in enough quantity and can be reheated and served 3-4 times a day.

So please take care of your digestive fire as a priority in order to preserve immunity.

    2)Maintain Disposition of Mind.

Mind has an immediate impact on immunity. It can shrink our immune system within seconds, mainly by four types of emotions.
    चिंता, क्रोध, भय, शोक.
Make sure that you don’t land up in these four emotions. Excessive Worrying, Anger, Fear and Grief.
Try to keep them away by your own ways. I recommend Meditation and Reading of spiritual philosophy.

3)Avoid aggressive and tiring exercises. Light body movements will help you nurture immunity. Thus Yogasanas are best and must.

4)The respiratory system is the site where COVID-19 lodges. Regular clearing up of Lungs by different breathing techniques acts as the best armour! Pranayama ( Kapaal Bhaati, Bhastrika, etc.) and Sudershan Kriya are essential. Clear up lungs daily the way you brush your teeth. Remove microscopic organisms and rejuvenate your lungs.
Social Distancing and maintaining hygiene are needed without saying. They are needed to break the chain of contact with the viruses.
Maintenance and elevation of our immune system is the secret of safety.
    { Imp tip. Don’t forget to chew 2 pods cardamom and cloves, immediately after lunch and dinner to strengthen respiratory tract. Strictly avoid post meal sweets or desserts}

For those who ask what time is the best time to devote ourselves to Him, Guru Jee  clears our doubts in the following verse:

    ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਫਲ ਸਾ ਘਰੀ

Bol Har Naam Safal Saa Gharee ||

Fruitful is that moment when the Lord's Name is chanted.

He says that, any moment, any second,  you devote  in chanting  His Name, that time is a blessed moment, for one never knows if afterwards one is alive or not.

So, whenever one can chant His name apart from our regular devotional practices, one should not think if the time is auspicious or not,  we should do it, for any time we chant His Name, automatically it becomes most auspicious and blessed.

just do simran with love and that will open it, surrender is all that works for dasam duar... it can open through seva many ways, give up the ego and love god to merge and it opens. just meditate on guru mantra until that is the only thing that exists, let it continually cut the thoughts until you merge into the gurumantra. banis as well let it cut thoughts until that is all that exists, your identity merges into guru manta. "waheguru gur mantra hai jaap homai koi"
from what ive learned effort can only take you to trikuti, 3rd eye, to go beyond that you need total surrender, technique doesnt matter.

Very  good answer of paramnam jee  above. 🙏 🙏 🙏

But we should also be aware of that opening Dasam Duar,  is not like buying a ticket and going there, for Dasam Duar is a higher level of consciousness, to which we can go graduallly by crossing the levels prior to it.

Everyone is eager to reach what we keep on hearing others say, but almost none say what they have gone through before reaching at some particular point or beyond even...

The thing is to keep oneself steadfast in doing our devotion/bhakti with regularity and punctuality without any expectations, and have unwavering faith and love in Him, for in the end and above anything, it is His kirpa which counts  in any spiritual progress.

The more we do His nishkam bhakti, the more we are likely to draw His grace upon us, and the more grace we receive, the more we get purified, and the more get purified, the higher we shall be able raise our soul consciousness within ourselves.

So sangat jee, the key in our relation with Him and pleasing Him, is our unconditional love for Him, and the time we dedicate ourselves in meditating upon Him.

With this practice, then what to say of Dasam Duar, for even Sach Khand, the highest realm of Truth  is at our hand.

Satsangat adultery is considered a kuriehet in sikhi what does sikhi histroy and rehat say in regards to this? Maharaja Ranjit singh commited polygamy and had concubines according to historians so he would be placed under that category he was lashed but other then him what would happen to a Sikh or any other religion for commiting it, Hindus commit honour killings, muslims stone to death, what was the dealing then for that and sex before marriage? Even in Sikhi now what is to happen for that? With Sikhs commiting adultery and sleeping around now all people can do is ex-communicate, So what would a potential khalistan do about this?

Please do no use the word sikh so loosely.

For sikh is someone who fully  lives to the high moral standards as per sikhee.

Moreover, that jeeva knows that purity is an essential  requiste to do His bhakti, as His bhakti is the only means of reaching Him/Sachay Patshah/Waheguru Akal Purukh.

Such must be the faith and love of a true sikh for Sachay Patshah.

No purity, thus no bhakti, no love, and no Sachay Patshah

    God is love

He is the Bestower and demands nothing in exchange for His gifts.

Similarly, love demands nothing in return. It knows only how to give; hence it is free from all selfishness….

True Love inspires generosity, and obliterates selfishness, because it has no ulterior motive.

So the nature of love is to give, without any expectations.

Our meditation/devotion is a practice  to give without any expectations.

Engaging in this devotion of meditating upon Him, is giving our attention, giving our time, ourselves, to this very  practice, day after day, never wondering what we’re supposed to get in return.

But how do we – selfish beings that we are – acquire this capacity to give without expecting anything back?

It is by putting our attention into that “current of love,” Anhad Naad, Shabad Dhun, resounding 24 hours a day non stop within us, which slowly makes us like itself.

It awakens in us the capacity to give selflessly, with no expectations.

This bhakti takes us and places us at His holy Feet, and has countless benefits for us.

It relieves us from our fears, from mind, maya, vikars, hatred, greed, sanskaras, and above all, it tunes us to live in His bhaana, thus we experience a sort of mysterious/mystical joy.

In this respect the Bani tells us:

    ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਬਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ

Naam Jin Kai Man Vasiaa Vaajae Sabadh Ghanaerae |

The divine melody of the Shabad vibrates for those, within whose minds the Naam abides.

    ਕਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਛਾ ਸਭਿ ਪੁਜਾਈਆ

Kar Saanth Sukh Man Aae Vasiaa Jin Eishhaa Sabh Pujaaeeaa ||

It has brought peace and tranquility to my mind; it has fulfilled all my desires.

    ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥੪॥

    Saachaa Naam Maeraa Aadhhaaro ||4||

The True Name is my only support. ||4||

    ਵਾਜੇ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ

Vaajae Panch Sabadh Thith Ghar Sabhaagai ||

The Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds, vibrate in that blessed house.

    ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਕਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਧਾਰੀਆ

Ghar Sabhaagai Sabadh Vaajae Kalaa Jith Ghar Dhhaareeaa ||

In that blessed house, the Shabad vibrates; He infuses His almighty power into it.

Is it safe to focus on the Ajna chakra while doing Waheguru jaap?

Last time I focused very hard on it, I didn't feel like engaging in any worldly task and just wanted to sit and recite the lords name.

There was a lot of pain all over my forehead; physically and mentally I wasn't doing well.

There was a lot of fear I was experiencing that I wouldn't be able to recite God's name.

Spiritually speaking I had never experienced something like that in my life.

I think it was equally good and bad experience. So much intoxication, your mind is just immersed in Waheguru. Losing all consciousness of your body. It was something I want to experience again.

    Any thoughts?

    SSA brother Nalwa,

relating to your post above, following is a verse from Guru Jee :

    ਜਪਿ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਫਾਟਾ ॥

Jap Govidh Bharam Bho Faattaa ||

Meditating on the Lord of the Universe, your doubts and fears shall be dispelled.

    * From it what I understand is, that the mind will create doubts and fear in you, to derail you from the path of His meditation which will surely take us to Him,  then too never ever give up, for His Nao is our only anchor.

Do His bhakti,  knowing that He is always there to help and guide His devotees, that is His guarantee, which even Dharam Rai dares not to contradict.  That is why Guru Jee tells us:

    ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Jo Simarai This Kaa Nisathaaraa ||1|| Rehaao ||

Whoever meditates on Him is emancipated. ||1||Pause||

*Moreover, if you derive even a bit of bliss from His jaap, take it as a blessing from Him, for as seen in the verse below, that, that alone wadbhagee jeeva chants His name, to whom He wants to do so, nobody else

    ਜਿ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨੀ ॥

    J Karaavai S Naam Vakhaanee ||

He alone chants the Naam, whom the Lord inspires to do so.
