I once heard there was something very significant about the rahao line of this Shabad. It was something along the lines of a stage in spirituality. Could someone do an in depth analysis of this Shabad?

    Thank you, Waheguru Ji.

  2. Is there a correlation between the nostril and the type of thoughts as well? I believe it was left side is rajogun and right is tamogun.

After your post I did watch it more closely and the shift is there. During amrit vela and many times during meditation the left is better. At the moment right has a better flow, but it's not that far off from the left. Last night the left was fully blocked.

I think the main reason you are feeling a balance already is because you have a strong foundation,  you have already been doing good waheguru japa which is naturally balancing everything in your body. And when you use this technique it works as a bonus :)

I msyelf have noticed that If I read out Gurbani loud,  the breath through my nostrils become more conscious & way smoother, although have not noticed the balancing yet.

The main issue for me is always the right nostril. Left always has very good flow, but right is almost always tight.

  4. Raag Maaroo, The Word Of Jai Dayv Jee:

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

The breath is drawn in through the left nostril; it is held in the central channel of the Sukhmanaa, and exhaled through the right nostril, repeating the Lord's Name sixteen times.

I am powerless; my power has been broken. My unstable mind has been stabilized, and my unadorned soul has been adorned. I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||

Within my mind, I chant the Name of the Primal Lord God, the Source of virtue.

My vision, that You are I are separate, has melted away. ||1||Pause||

I worship the One who is worthy of being worshipped. I trust the One who is worthy of being trusted. Like water merging in water, I merge in the Lord.

Says Jai Dayv, I meditate and contemplate the Luminous, Triumphant Lord. I am lovingly absorbed in the Nirvaanaa of God. ||2||1||

    ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ।। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਹਿ ।।

Gurmukho, my question has to do with the shabad above. In the first line a technique to do simran is outlined. Is this used to balance ida and pingla? At which stage would someone use this technique? Is there any gain from doing it at earlier stages?

I recently started yoga for the health benefits. I've mainly been doing the "1 minute breath" as a way to strength voice for kirtan.

But what I have been wondering is what are the spiritual benefits of various types of yoga (especially the one's that focus on strengthening the nabhi)? Would yoga help your simran in any way?

  6. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ।। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਹਿ ।।

I know this is a topic that most abyassi's are against but i had a bit of free time today and started playing around with it.

I finished simran today and was in a really calm state, heart rate was really calm and mind was extremely focused. I've been thinking about playing with astral projection again for a while so I decided to try it again. I got myself to the vibration point where the vibrations in your body pick up extremely fast. I started floating and separating but kind of had the initial fear and started going back in. Then it feels like someone came to help me and pulled me out.

I didn't have full awareness, I could barely figure out what was happening. I couldn't stand up or look around but I was able to tell myself to roll to the side of the bed. From there on I used the bed side to stand up and all I really did was run around because I didn't know what to do, but I was in full control.

After a while I got bored and told myself I wanted to end this, I started to feel my physical body and opened my eyes and I was back. The vibrations since have picked up more than they have in a while and I feel as if there are other entities around us that we don't know of. (That may sound weird lol but that was my first thought I had when everything ended).

What my question is, due to the fact I didn't have full awareness/sight of what was happening but had full control of myself. Was this a lucid dream or an astral projection?

  7. I tend to have a lot of dreams with mahapurakhs

It usually tends to be Bhagat Ji (Bhagat Jaswant Singh) - they'll usually talk to me and act really laid back and fun. The one I had last night was them just spending a day with me.

A really long time ago I had one with Baba Nihaal Singh - I dreamt it was a really cold day and they kept giving me layers of clothes because they knew I was cold. (I've never met Baba Nihaal Singh in my life). They didn't speak at all during the dream.

The other mahapurakh that's been in one was Baba Isher Singh. I've obviously never met them (I'm 17), I've never really watched/listened to any of their recordings nor did I know much about them. They came to the dream and just showed me love. They didn't speak a single word but the emotion was the communication, the most powerful part of the dream was when they hugged me. It almost seemed like I was feeling physical pleasure during that moment even though I was in a dream.

What I've noticed is that these dreams are more frequent when my Simran is going well - maybe there's a connection?

  8. I think the ear plugs suggestion is for when your only trying to listen to the internal sounds. I wouldn't use them if doing jaap of listening to your own voice.

They are a good idea when doing mental jaap with concentration. My loves to lock on to the ticking sounds made by clocks on our wall. Annoys the hell out of me, that I have to either go and remove all the clocks or pull the batteries out.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to the tiking. I've gone to the extent of getting rid of all clocks on my upper floor and replacing them with digital clocks.

Is there anyone here who can listen to multiple sounds at once? For me it's just one sound at a time. They change during each session but I have no control over which one I'm listening to.

  9. I'm not 100% sure but this is what I've heard when doing a sava lakh (40 day) jaap. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    - Begin with a full body and kes ishnaan

    - Lay out a clean white cloth to sit on

    - Do an ardas before the beginning of the jaap

    - Some people use dhoof to keep the air around them distraction free

    - Keeping water nearby is good as well, it takes in the vibrations and you can drink it at the end of the day

    - For focus, I'm not fully sure - Some people say to focus on the trikuti (third eye), some say just the sound matters

    - 125,000/40 is 3125 so 3125 mool mantars daily

    - 3125 divided by a 108 bead mala is 28.9 so basically 29 mala's (108 beads) a day

I'm not sure how long it would take daily, I've never tried the jaap myself, I'm guessing maybe 5-8 hours a day.

I know that in the beginning stages the first distraction that comes up to stop your focus is your thoughts. Later on people have told me ridhian/sidhian come up to distract you off the path and I've also heard your vices can attack you as well. Is there anything else that may come up as a distraction? And does anyone have any info on whether or not it's true that the 5 vices may possibly try and lead you the wrong way?

  11. Yes,you understood my situation.thanks a lot.i am glad and i'll try to put concentration on my studies.i know balance is very important.i hope waheguru ji help me in this.i am extremely glad i am part of this as you all are person's of almighty and i can discuss what i could never share with any one.

I think it's Waheguru ji's kirpa that i found you all.i believe company of good people, saints is very important to make your doubts clear as it's mentioned in gurbani at many sites.i hope i'll Make full benefit of it.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh!

Do as many ardas's as possible, Guru Sahib will do kirpa

  12. I am posting here for the first time.i need someone's views as i am getting in different state of mind.as i m growing up all my interests are gone..i love my studies as i take it holy vidya.i am eager to attain the purpose of life.my interest is rising to an extent.i want to sit day long in the name of almighty.i keep reciting lord in my mind the while day.the problem is i am not putting any time to my studies which i think is very important right now.sometime i think it's not right time for what i want.is this right to continue as i m proceeding .i have lot of queries im my mind like how will i reach the final state and a lot..not getting words to explain

I was in the same situation last year. I was at the top in all my classes but then my grades dropped and I almost started failing. A Singh sat down with me and explained that your education is extremely important and it's all about striking a balance. If you don't work hard in school now, for the rest of your life you're going to have it hard and might have to work in a situation where you'll constantly be too tired for bhagti. And it also come down to giving daswand, you can't really give daswand of money when you barely have enough to pay bills/take care of kids etc.

Another good point is that you should try to get into such a good position that you can take off days or weeks without it being a problem. That will come in handy especially when it comes to going to Sikhi based kamai camps. Many jobs won't even give you a day off to go to a nagar kirtan.

Try and look at school as your kirat for the time being. Work hard now so you don't have to work as hard later and you can spend as much time as possible doing meditation/reading bani/japping naam.

Anything can have a spiritual significance if you give it spiritual significance. If you don't give any spiritual significance then no matter how spiritually significant it is, it won't have any spiritual significance.

Now about why people use them:

Dhoof smells good and when you are trying to minimize distractions then it helps to mask bad odours with good ones. Smell plays a huge part as it can subconsciously irritate us or ease us. We want to be at ease when meditating and so dhoof helps with that.

Mala is a timer. Back then they didn't have watches and clocks that went beep beep. So they counted time on their mala. They knew 108 beads with X rotations of the mala = Y hours (for them it was position of the sun). The hand can easily tell when the mala completes a rotation because of the fluffy bit or big bead depending on what mala you use. And so you can train yourself to automatically keep track of time while you meditate deeply with your eyes closed.

So are you missing out? You won't know until you try them. Do the 30-day test.

    Ok

  14. The man or woman with a clouded mind has his inner eyes shut to the Astral World. He sees nothing beyond his physical body. His attention is most of the time on eating unnecessary foods, sleeping long hours, gossiping, back stabbing. These people even claim to pray five times a day and make it a point to visit their temples every week but sadly when they see a women wearing a tight pair of shorts walk pass them...their imagination becomes very creative!

The clouds Harry Seggu refered were actually negative habits or unnecessary habits in us which constantly rule our lives. We become a slave to them and when this happens we end up doing wrong things / habits like going to massage parlors, gambling, buying unnecessary goods, watching and reading porno stuff, and the list goes on. Basically they live in a world of illusion. They think that life only exists on the physical plane.

Going beyond the clouded mind requires no degree from a university but you only require a pure heart and you must keep your attention constantly on your forehead especially the third eye. Your attitude must be free from anger, attachment, vanity, lust and greed (more on that later). Sounds very simple but it will take time to realize that these are the only three words (Purity, Attention & Attitude) that you need to master in order to progress in the spiritual world. My master Raja Guru has told me to practice speaking, listening and talking from my third eye and its the best way to practice meditation when not sitting in silence at home. He even told me once "Don't waste time practicing Kundalini if a man still wants to drink alcohol, gamble or even go to a prostitute." Those words are printed in my heart.

Visions of the Astral Plane can be seen if you practice earnestly what my Guru told above. The Astral Plane is quite similiar to the Physical World but you can travel anywhere there in a fraction of thought / second. The body sits on the bed while your attention is on the forehead. A tunnel with white lights will appear ... I can't tell more and if you wish to know more then go and practice meditation and the clouds that float in your mind that keeps your inner eyes blind shall be blown away.

Its interesting how this post (from 10gateblogspot) refers to thoughts (especially tamo which are darker thoughts: lust, anger, greed pride and attachment) negative habits which prevent us from experiencing the astral world and same is for experiencing God.

Through meditation (simran) we clean our mind from the dirt of such thoughts to experience higher planes through the tenth gate.

For those of you have astral.travelled did u leave through the tenth gate?

What happens to me is I feel myself leaving but then I get scared and go back in. The main reason I've been aiming at astral travel is because where I live there isn't much sangat (I'm too young to drive anywhere where there is sangat) and I want to go to Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) as much as possible, I feel like that would be amazing. The power of the sangat at darbar sahib is amazing.
