The Singh Sabha Canada is doing a tour of Panjab at the moment. They have put up some photos on Facebook and it's a shame that people who have little knowledge of this area are being totally taken in by them

Really??? That's messed up. We need to literally beat these goons up...

Some of their videos when they compare satgur's beloved gurbani to things I dare not repeat. I curse their existence!

Also we had a staunch follower of Singh sabha Canada on here....remember khalsa fauj? With his twisted interpretations.

  3. It shows disrespect for Sikh leadership (whether they like or agree with Akal Takht is not the issue... that's their own choice, but they should at least show respect to Akal Takht and SRM).

With all due respect, why should us Sikhs hold the jathedar of the akal takht high esteem? He is a coward, a donkey. Likewise sgpc. Sacha sauda marfi. Donkeys!!!! I wonder who was pulling the strings of these so called leaders of ours? Giddars.

  4. Seems like everyone is over looking a point. This is not the 1700s where you can find wild fish.this she, we eat farmed fish( I avoid it like the plague) . please do research into why we should not consume salmon tuna trout sea bass talapia due to the conditions it is bred in. Moreover the amount of crap they feed the fish such as soy pellets. Farmed fish are disease ridden and have less nutrient s compared to real wild fish. Please avoid farmed fish, it is disgusting.

  5. Actually I read somewhere that about 100 years ago, people did not circle around SGGSJ, but instead stayed in front side by side... So is this 'following' / 'leading' thing only in recent history?? They said the lavans were still read but that the couple did not actually circumambulate... they stayed in place in front standing side by side.  It was suggested that circling SGGSJ came to mimic the revolutions around the sacred fire in Hinduism... do we have any proof that the cicrling was done right from Guru JI's time?

Please Clarify:  Is it as Paapiman stated that the woman is symbolizing she will only ever be a 'follower' while the husband is always 'in charge'?? Because I didn't sign up to be a doormat, or anyone's subordinate, any more than my husband did!  I'm just not the submissive follower type!!  Certainly in some things he will take the lead, but in others I will - depending on our individual talents!  Some things he will get final say, and others I will get final say.  But he doesn't get a free ticket to always be in charge just because he's a male!

    Is Paapiman wrong?

Lucky why does the Father 'give' away his daughter but not his son? Why not the Mother? Does this signify property or ownership?  It has been suggested in Christianity that the Father giving away the bride was to signify that women were never independent and were always under the 'guardianship' of men - passed from guardianship of the father to the husband. Is this the same as Sikhi since you explained it as such??? Are women simply men's property???

I have no idea about side to side 100 years ago, however what I do know is sikhs did lava around a havan. Read up on that. When did sikhs start doing laava around SatgurSatgur rather than the fire?.

  6. "When you seriously start studying history you discover all manner of hidden things. The point you made (highlighted above) isn't true according to Bhangu's Panth Prakash.

He explicitly mentions how the Khalsa tolerated the smoking of someone who was part of the Moghul government but an undercover sehaj-dhari Sikh. His name was Kaura Mal. This guy would forewarn the Khalsa of impending Moghul attacks and send supplies when they were surrounded. Apparently they made him pay fines for his smoking huqqa but he was well loved.

This IS NOT (!!!) any attempt on my part to justify, encourage, excuse smoking before anyone jumps on that wagon! I'm just exploring what I've discovered whilst exploring my own literary heritage!

I think what has happened today is that the Sikh masses have been so conditioned by a particular, white washed account of their history that many have sadly become incapable of exploring their own beautiful and rich literary heritage because they experience hardcore dissonance with what they sometimes encounter because it is so different from their preconceptions of the past. It's sad really but very common.  "
