Please make sure that you have Gurbani (like Sri Shastar Naam Mala, Sri Braham Kavach, etc) playing on a device in your room at all times, especially when you are sleeping or not at home.

You can do as much as Naam Simran (which includes reciting Gurbanis) as you want, even if you are non-Amritdhari. But, please do prepare your mind to take Khanda da Amrit in the near future.

Was Maharaja Ranjit Singh, amritdhari?
He probably must have taken Amrit at a very young age, but he definitely broke the Sikh codes of conduct.

There is a bibi who shares the experience of her Amritdhari Father who wore all 5 kakar but used to drink Alcohol secretely, and was thus re incarnated in the form of Bhoot and had to suffer. Check out the channel i posted, its in there.
You might call alcohol kurehit or bajjar kurehit, but regardless of semantics end result of Alcohol is bad even if you are amritdhari.
There is a reason that consumption of alcohol is a Kurehat and not a Bajjar Kurehat. Singhs can consume alcohol in a battlefield. There are two historical references to alcohol consumption in Sikh literature.
Other than that, Sardar Charat Singh Sukarchakia, the famous Sikh warrior and grandfather of Maharaja Ranjit Singh used to drink alcohol too. Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who has made Sikhs famous all over the world, also used to drink alcohol. Just a couple of examples. Obviously, they don't justify the use of alcohol for recreational or intoxication purposes.
Also, from a modern perspective, alcohol is probably used in a lot of medications and other stuff like colognes, mouthwashes, deodorants, etc, so it makes sense for it to be a Kurehat only.

Veer Ji, pls dont say that alcohol is not B. Kurait. Some naive person will read this forum and start consuming and getting drunk.
Bhai saab jee, we also have to stick to the Truth. We cannot invent new Bajjar Kurehats. Someone even said that dyeing beard or Kesh is a Bajjar Kurehat, which is clearly wrong, Dyeing hair is a Kurehat, not a Bajjar Kurehat.
According to Gurmat, drinking alcohol is still a big sin.

Alcohol can be found in homeopathic medicine, mouth wash, wipes?
Don't worry about that. We need to make sure that we don't come in contact (or at least limit our contact) with tobacco in any form.

Veer ji, consumption of alcohol is a bujjer K. All intoxicants are infact - cannabis, marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, all kinds of drugs or anything that alters your mind.
Paaji, only consumption of tobacco in any form is a Bajjar Kurehat. Consumption of Alcohol and other intoxicants is a Kurehat.
For Cannabis and Marijuana, please see the link below.

I want to start off my saying I was recently blessed with amrit and am 17yrs old, I had a yoghurt dessert that said it was plant friendly/vegan so I had it, but then after having this, my father tried it and he said it tasted like it had alcohol and said it could be in there, I went to check and I saw it said it had alcohol in it, from which i got very emotional and disappointed in my self for this, i did ardaas straight away to guru sahib ji for forgiveness becuase I rather die than have a drop of alcohol in body and it was truly a foolish accident so I want to ask if have broke amrit, I am waiting for the next amrit sanchaar to do pesh but it is very painful, i don't know why I didn't look at ingredients despite it saying vegan as I only want to serve the guru with love and stay within the rehat of the khalsa but I have failed.Calm down bro.
Consumption of Alcohol is not a Bajjar Kurehat. It is a Kurehat. Consumption of tobacco in any form is a Bajjar Kurehat. Plus, you did not even consume Alcohol intentionally. So, please don't worry too much about it.
But, if you feel the need to go for Peshi you can go.
In general, please focus more on Inner Rehat (along with Naam Simran and Seva), rather than Outer Rehat.

Hello,
I want to understand how strict does one need to be with the time ?
It mentions the Jaap should be done at a fixed time everyday.
Should it be the same exact clock time ? Or it is fine as long as it is amritvela
For example, one day a person did jaap at 4, but next day due to some circumstances he got 10 mins late and started at 4:10. What would happen in this case ?
Will the person need to start all over again ?IMHO, +/- 10 min should not be a big problem. Try your best to start the Jaap at the same time everyday, if possible.
Amritvela starts at approximately 3 hours before sunrise. So, in case you are doing the Jaap at Amritvela, at least make sure you start and complete the Jaap within that time frame. Also, please do remember to check the time for sunrise (at least on a weekly basis), as Amritvela will change moderately, if you are doing a 21-day or 40-day Jaap.
Lastly, please focus more on the Jaap rather than being worried too much about the timings.

Which Hukam do you think is against Gurbani?

In that time, I've learnt SO MUCH about my Sikhi heritage (recently especially in terms of my own Bhai Daya Singh sampardaya heritage), learnt to read my prayers (though I don't do that nearly enough these days), finally improved my Gurmukhi skills (through translations we did together) and shared opinions on many topics, I've felt were important to our panth (like grooming and caste), and maybe most importantly (???) brought simran/meditation into my life. Spending time on forums is often considered a waste of time, and often is, but I can say here, in my personal experience - that has not been true and places like this have helped me grow so much.
I want to thank all the people who have helped on this journey even though I have so much to still work on myself.
I guess I'm just posting this to let people know that work commitments and a sense that the community will now go in whichever direction it will, and that I've more than said my piece - means that I won't be frequenting the sites like I did before. I will check in now and then because sometimes gems come up. But the rest of you, take care of yourselves, and always keep our Guru's and what they stood for in your hearts and souls.
I've have some old broken laptops with images and documents that might be of interest. When I get these transferred onto a hard drive in future (probably after the new year), I'll post anything I think worthy of sharing.
One love and thank you my brothers and sisters.

1. I think amritdhari sikhs are required to keep Kangha on them at all times. How do you manage that at night while sleeping. I have tried to keep Kangha in parna (small turban) but it tends to slip away when I am sleeping (i am not amritdhari yet but wanted to keep as much maryada as I can). How about when you are washing your hair?
2. What should be done about the hairs that break away after washing them. I have heard that a lot of people burn them respectfully instead of throwing in garbage. How do you manage that in western-styled homes with fire alarms. Any helpful information is welcome. Thanks very much and apologies for all inadvertent mistakes.

Welcome to the forum bro.
You can attach a thread to the Kanga and wear it around your neck, like a necklace, while you are sleeping or bathing
As for Kesh, just ask the Panj Pyare when you go for Amrit Sanchaar.

They had visions in their dreams or in reality? Any Indian Army sources (or Chinese sources) which mention this incident? Most likely, those Sikh soldiers must have reported these visions to their superiors (especially the Sikh ones).
Indian army lost that battle badly against the Chinese army (in 1962), with thousands of Indian soldiers captured by the Chinese army. Did any of the Nanaksar sangees got captured by the Chinese Army?
Also, could there be a scientific explanation for those visions? Did the visions occur when they (the soldiers) were in captivity and possibly deprived of food, water, etc? Did the visions occur when they were badly injured? Did the visions occur when they had lost all hope for victory? Did the visions occur when they were on medications?
