This forum has the blessings of Sant Ishar Singh Ji Maharaj Rara Sahib wale (n3o knows ) & many other mahapurkhs of Sikh, Buddhist & Hindu traditions.

I have never seen so much praise of Mahapurakhs on any other forum. This is the key to success. Whoever shall bow down to Saints will succeed here & after life.

    Do elaborate!

Haha! I've been coming here for a few years.... I only made an account a little while back but before would just read the threads haha... it's just sad to see that back in the day there was a lot of great convos going on but nowadays there's just this nonsense lol

So is it discriminatory or not?

Never even mind yes it is. If you are looking for some glimmer of hope in the wording that they treat women on equal level, no they don't. And they don't make secret of it either. You have seen some of the attitude on here already on how males get higher respect. They don't even allow bibis to participate in akhand paths. Their thinking is very brahminical. The only thing they think women are good for is hidden away doing kitchen work and serving the men.  If you want equality stay away from them.  They think all religious duties and leadership should be men.  I don't even know how they got so popular lately before sant jarnail singh bhindranwale they were nothing just a small group with not much influence. Now look at the youth. They are all turning into women hating sexist. If you want to be seen and treated as equal, check Akhand Kirtani Jatha I think you will be happy.

Dr. Navtej Purewal of Oxford University has pointed out in a study on Sikhism that many of the so called deras and sants take women's service for granted and their service is expected to be low profile compared to men. This is upheld in deras and these so called sants restrict women's participation greatly. If Gurbani is telling us everyone are equal how can women be kept from equal service in the panth? It is a huge disservice to our Gurus to relegate women back to the background, hidden, passive influence in the panth, out of leadership roles, out of prominence.  Our Gurus taught differently, Gurbani speaks of equality, yet we are doing these things and breeding hatred of women.

Just look at some of the comments on here lately. Singhs (or at least they are passing themselves off as Singhs) in disgust over women's bodies and biological functions, coming straight out and saying that giving women less opportunity is somehow not discriminatory, just a different role. Yes, don't delude yourselves at least call it what it is! It is very much discrimination. And our Gurus were against it. Ask yourself if you would want the supposed role you are telling women they have. To be hidden in background, refused opportunity simply because of something you had no control over, your gender.

CdnSikhGirl. check out akhand kirtani jatha. Bhai Rhandir Singh Ji believed in equality as taught by our Gurus. This has nothing to do with western feminism. It has everything to do with being a decent human being.

Jasper you have the audacity to make these proclamations without even reading Gurbani Path Darpan?!

Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji had incredible pyaar for Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, and Vice Versa.

Akhand Kirtan Jatha and Damdami Taksaal have a strong relationship despite trouble makers.

Damdami Taksaal is a puratan Samparda the first mukhi was Dhan Dhan Baba Deep Singh Ji. Yet you have "no idea how they got so popular?"

Sant Kartar Singh JI Khalsa Bhindranwale worked closely with Shaheed Bhai Fauja Singh JI (AKJ) during 1978!

You guys here read some English translations and throw a hissy fit and now seemingly everyday we have a new thread about this nonsense.
You don't want to do any real research and apply yourself and you label a whole sampardaye over what a few people say.

This website has become more draining then beneficial, a pale image of it's past. Tbh, Providing little reason for me to remain.

    Apparently not.

Funny thing is a lot of these guys are taksal or follow Damdami Taksal. You know what is in Taksal Rehet Maryada? Yes the same Taksal who everyone on here are SURE date back to Guru Gobind Singh Ji....

This is direct from Taksal Mayrada under Amrit section:

"Differences in caste, creed, colour, gender, rich and poor all have been eliminated by the creation of the Khalsa.  The true Guru is all powerful"

Also did you know the Taksal Maryada doesn't even prohibit women from being one of Punj Pyaras! It's only inferred from language as Singh. However everything in the entire document refers to Singhs and not Kaurs when referring to seva. Even making Karah prashad.

If you want a better perspective on Damdami Taksaal's Rehat, read Gurbani Path Darpan. by Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale... You cannot continue to just use English translations...!

  5. Lol no.

Sant Ji is not holding anything against women.... He provided reasoning... and justified the view... Whether personally one accepts it, it is up to them....

CdnSikhGirl Ji does the same as Pappiman Ji and Chatanga Ji... She won't let go of the subject either.... It is a two way street.

I have never attacked CdnSikhGirl Ji nor anyone else here... Nor will I... when you say "you guys" you are making it seem like the situation is CdnSikhGirl vs the whole forum... When the conflict is between her and Chatange and one or two other members....

I am not saying its not authentic. What I am saying is try and understand where our sisters, Mothers, daughters are coming from.  If you were in their shoes and all you saw at every turn was negativity towards the female gender how would you take it?  Simple fact is, it is very hard to rectify to our own families that dasam granth is somehow not anti-female. Most families just pretend it doesn't exist and focus only on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.  Others have their wives bowing to their husbands because of the obvious difference in status.

So let me ask you outright, going by the material we have available, what was our Guru's view of women (in general)?

Now after you have your answer add to that, the extra things we put on women to give them less opportunities than us, what we expect of them in marriage, what some sants have actually said about women, less opportunities for seva, the fact that nearly all leadership in our religion is male dominated.  How do you honestly think any woman will feel (even if she doesn't say anything?) And you guys are wondering why a gori convert is becoming disheartened? When you are ripping her a new one for even questioning it, and you are all emphasizing a Sikhi where women have less rights than us.  It seems like you support a Sikhi where women are welcome, as long as they shut up remain quiet, accept they are lower than us, and never question anything that puts women down. Seriously is this what our Gurus wanted??

Go to any website on Sikhism online, and you will see every one states men and women are treated equally.  So why the big disparity? If we believe women are lesser beings, then why not come out and just say it? Why try to make Sikhi look like it treats them with equal respect when it doesn't?

Anyway a good portion of my family do not believe that all of dasam granth is authentic.  In fact even the stories in charitropakhyan are rewritten from previous stories that already existed. That much we know.  And if Guru Gobind Singh did rewrite them, did he ever even intend them to be read by the masses? Or were they just a private collection? All we do know for sure, is that we are using them for more harm than good.

And I find it funny you guys would support Akal Takht edict on this but then ignore Akal Takht's edict to include women as one of the Panj Pyaras!  You can't pick and choose which bits you want to follow!

In regards to ignoring SGPC edicat on women as Panj Pyare... I never said that it is not in the SGPC maryada! The points that I personally brought up was that Sant Ji said that women shouldn't be and it is the view of some sampardayes like Damdami Taksaal!

If women want to be in the Panj Pyare where they follow SGPC Maryada MORE POWER TO THEM!!

The point is we have bigger things to deal with in the panth....

Imagine if all these arguments threads we have about men vs women were replaced with actual productive threads!

I have engaged in some healthy debate with CdnSikhGirl before.... And you can ask her... We both kept it peaceful and professional.... We're just trying to learn here!

    Dasam granth anti female?

First and foremost even before jumping into Dasam Granth we need to understand and explore Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and english translations DO NOT DO JUSTICE!! That is why learning Gurmukhi is so important!

Listen to complete Katha of Sri Charitropakhyan with a balanced view, if you truly want to believe it is anti-female!

  8. I agree we need to all keep to professional and respect each other!!

But, do not attack Pita Ji's Bani.

Sri Dasam Granth has been discussed in full effect...!

If you don;t want to believe it is bani keep it to your self or set up a controlled thread.

Sri Akal Thakht Sahib is clear on this issue!

Countless Mahapurakhs and Gurmukh pyare have already explained Guru Maharaj's Dasam Granth is authentic!

If you don't want to accept it that is your own opinion!

  9. This is a non issue... .Just like everything else we argue about in terms of men vs women here lol.

Sant Ji said that we can work through these in house issues AFTERWARDS we have our own home....

I'm not telling you all to jump up and discuss only Khalsa Raaj....

But come on "guys" (Am I going to get in trouble for not acknowledging women? Lol?)

There are so many other great threads to explore here like in the Bhakti section....
