In the proper meditation technique you put your dhyan on your mouth when doing naam japna. To make sure it is at the right place you can open your eyes and you should be looking directly at the tip of your nose. That is how to check if your dhyan is properly on your mouth and in the dhun "dhun me dhiaan, dhiaan me janeya gurmukh akath kahanee".

This is not the dhun. The dhun this refers to is ajapa jaap, not vaiklhari jaap.

  2. The flow of ida and pingala is karma related. Balanced/lunar flow occurs once we've pacified the heavier burdens. Excessive heat can give rise to a lot of complications. In cases where there is agitation as a result of meditation, service of the needy, or as instructed by a realized person, is advised. It's also important to maintain as much celibacy as possible if heat is excessive.

Do the ashvini mudra (contracting and relaxing your anal sphinter muscle). It's good for you.I've been doing it for years.Everybody should do it.

As for chakra.Well, I personally believe they are psychological devices. But that doesn't mean they can't be real.Whatever "real" is

This happens to some extent automatically if one repeats mantra with devotion and love. Always best to focus on that more than the path of "exercise". Without stirring the heart, the energy becomes difficult to contain and rises up the wrong channels, giving rise to the very emotions and attachments one is trying to shed. In the past, the more physical aspects of Yoga were guided firmly by realized teachers, who knew what the aspirant could and could not handle, as well as the "prakirti" of the person.

Like all things in life, patience and good fortune have to be earned. Once that path has a seed or reasonable foundation, a realized soul will cross one's path and help.

    Just read:

"Har" is the Hindi  substitute for Sanskrit "hara", without the final stop.
"hara" means the one who takes away or destroys, when used as a noun.
Originally came from the Vedic concept of Rudra who robs us off our life as the God of death. The robber concept is then applied for our gloominess and the same Rudra, who is the lord of death, also becomes the God of bliss, the doer of bliss "shiva", "shamkara".
This is the reason for hara name too.
The Shiva who is the destroyer (more properly, "deconstructor") of life and creation is also able to destroy our sadness and misfortunes. Thus, the destroyer, robber "hara" name fits for the Greatest and Most Graceful of them, Shiva, the God Himself

The literal meaning differs greatly from the abstract meaning of all mantras. The effect created by the mantra when one recites it enough, reveal the meaning in a profound manner that lifts the surat.

I was reading Discourse on the Beyond again by Sant Baba Waryam Singh in which Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji (Rare Wale) mentions a jugti for jaaping Mool Mantar which can be obtained from Sants. Does anyone now any techniques for this? I assume it something along the lines of swas swas simran or chakras. There are loads of techniques out there for Waheguru simran but I have never come across something for the mool mantar.

Any insight from abhiyaasi Sikh's would be much appreciated.

Read the book Shabad Surat Marg by his holiness Sant Waryam Singh ji. It details the path from Mool Mantar to Gur Mantar, which is what this eludes to (I had the fortune of spending time with them).

  6. Yes, especially in light of solar energy being more dominant as we move deeper into kali-yug; even the fairer sex is becoming more solar...

Mantras and yogic postures are given out like cheap drugs these days. Back when there were enough genuine lineages, such things were prescribed by realised souls to worthy aspirants based up each individual's chemical, psychic, and karmic balance.
