I think Taksali don't teach that literal meanings are not necessary the actual meaning. Gurbani is written in poetic form with minimum number of words. Also it uses idiomatic and metaphor to explain something. The shabad you quoted above literal meaning is same as quoted which is similar to Hindu philosophy. Gurbani core principle is Here and Now. Here ‘ਅੰਤਕਾਲ = Spiritual death .
