  1. I find it very odd that these people have been classified as Muslims. What happened to being Indian citizens? They are aren't they?

And in a democracy citizens have the right to speech, expression and to protest. They where does the authority come to violent hindu mobs to take the law into their own hands and start running amok? Almost everyone agrees a BJP leader started this whole mess by attacking protesters. Of course the Muslims will retaliate, what else do you expect them to do?

My point for this thread is nothing has changed since 1984. This same weapon that was used against us in 84 is now being used against the Muslims and Whaeguru forbid,if one day Indian Sikhs stand up and demand for their rights these same mobs would waiting to have another rape and murder "holi".

No such thing as democracy in india.Largest democracy my foot. Its a sham democracy used to mask extremist hinduism that wants to dominate and rule over all.

Only one side of the story cannot possibly tell the whole truth.

It's obvious foreign press has a hand in instigating the unrest in India... dirtiest irresponsible politics of division... and over what?  A law intended to protect.

Well when a community is attacked it obviously retaliates. That is the law of nature. There would be collateral damage on both sides.

How is there a comparison with 1984 bhaiji, when the controversial citizenship law is inclusively designed to protect Sikh community and provide fast-track citizenship to illegals fleeing discrimination and persecution in radicalized Islamic countries?  Perhaps, the newspapers are biased and we are not understanding the issue fully. Why, I wonder, are thousands of Muslims in India leading controversial protests over this issue... unless to detract and deny the near extermination of non-Muslims in neighboring countries which the law is designed to protect. Of course this doesn't justify mob violence... but I don't think India has to be secular or a safe haven for one of the most intolerant religions known to mankind.

When I said comparison to 1984,i meant the violence on the street of delhi not the issue that led to this violence. If we read articles online the majority of them are making references to 1984.That is what I am highlighting.

Then where does it end penji? This was the same justification for anti Sikh violence in the past and still going on. In the future some other extremist can use this excuse to target anyone they wish.I don't understand this logic,if one side protests the other side starts running amok?So what type of "democracy"is this where there is freedom of speech and expression but afterwards you get murdered and your businesses razed?

Knowing that such violent mobs still exist in the capital of India which saw one of the worst attempts of Sikh genocide in the past has unsettled me.Makes me wonder would these same mobs be used to target Sikhs in the future if they ever "dare" demand for any rights?

Very sad news... but I think you're making it more inflammatory by siding with Muslims here.  India has long been torn by sectarian violence, going back for centuries... add to that corruption, poverty, criminality, etc.  So, things have been relatively peaceful under Modi govt.  What changed all of a sudden?  Citizenship law.  Oh, big claims discrimination against Muslims.  Is it?

No penji you misunderstood me. Not taking sides just posting what news I find online as some people here would deny this ever happening.

It is not me but in 2 articles I posted comparisons were made with the 1984 anti Sikh genocide and the current situation.

Don't really see the point of comparing this situation to what will happen to hindus in another country. India claims to be a democracy with a rule of law so they must act like it but instead we see nothing has changed over the past 40 years when it comes to violence against minorities.

  5. Relatives and neighbors wail near the body of Mohammad Mudasir, 31, who was killed in communal violence in New Delhi, India, Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020. The violent clashes between Hindu and Muslim mobs were the capital's worst communal riots in decades and saw shops, Muslim shrines and public vehicles go up in flames. (AP Photo/Manish Swarup)

In a grim echo of the violent 1947 partition of India — in which up to 2m people are thought to have died — rioters questioned people over their religion, demanding they recite prayers, show religious symbols or even pull down their trousers. “If someone has a beard or looks Muslim, they are asking people to open their pants and prove that they are Hindu,” said one social activist. Witnesses said police appeared to do little to stop the rioters. Mazid, a 32-year-old shop owner, said he and his neighbours on a mixed Hindu-Muslim street were standing together trying to protect their homes on Tuesday evening when they saw a crowd, accompanied by police officers, coming towards them. “Police were with them and we thought maybe they will stop the violence, but then [someone] fired the shots,” said Mazid. His brother was killed and two neighbours were injured in the gunfire.

  6. What Happened in Delhi Was a Pogrom

A Delhi municipal worker on a street vandalized in Tuesday's violence in New Delhi, India.

The Delhi police, who report directly to Home Minister Amit Shah, either stood idly by or escorted the mobs. Videos of police breaking CCTV cameras and taunting prone and bleeding Muslim men while filming them with their smartphones circulated on social media. The violence echoed that of 2002, when Modi was chief minister of Gujarat and authorities there did nothing to stem carnage that killed some 1,000 people, the majority of them Muslims. It also brought back memories of the revenge killings of at least 3,000 Sikhs in Delhi after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by two of her Sikh bodyguards in 1984.

By now, many across Delhi, and Sikhs across the world, are retriggered by memories the pogroms of 1984, when Delhi was shut down for days while armed, organised, government-backed mobs unleashed sadistic, sexualised, ravaging violence against Sikhs (many who were hiding in their own homes, as noted on the lists provided to the “mobs”). Thousands were murdered in days.

The survivors seethed at the mockery and shaming to which they were subjected in the aftermath. Being taunted walking down a street – “Yeh Sikh faise bach gaya (How did this Sikh survive)?” Being prodded with gibes about the recent trauma – “Sardar toh sirf chidiya ghar mein milenge (You’ll have to go to the zoo to find a Sikh now).” Being denied employment, apartment rentals, seats on public transport or basic politeness all became commonplace for Sikhs: rural and urban, turbaned and not, traditional and Anglicised.

The gutted shell of the Badi mosque in north Delhi’s Ashok Nagar neighbourhood was still smouldering yesterday afternoon. Atop its minaret, the Islamic crescent had been torn down and a saffron Hindu flag hoisted over it.

Everyone who listen to the Guru is a Sikh. Sikhi was and will never depend upon the family you were born in. If Jaikara believe in Sikhi - he's a Sikh but Jaikara, no person can be classified as good or bad by which religion he's born in. Indira Gandhi, Gangu were born in Brahmin family whereas there are 100s of examples from Bhai Mardana ji, Pir Budhu Shah, Sai Miya Mir who were born in Muslim families.

Clans don't matter, only Values does Humanity does...

Read all his past posts. This is the guy who supports rape and murder of innocent kashmiri for his political belief. In every thread that exposes the tyranny of the indian state this propagandist is there defending tyranny. And YES! Those who for years are spewing anti Sikh propaganda that supports rape and murder of innocent could NEVER EVER BE A SIKH OF THE GURU NO MATTER WHAT DRAMA THEY DO unless they give up their evil ways and embrace Sikhi wholeheartedly.

Lol, you should preach this to jaikara who doesn't view muslims as even humans and legitimizes rape and murder against anyone who goes against the tyrannical indian state! This thread is proof that for more than 10 years jaikara has been spewing hatred and poison and looks like it will never change.

Never thought of it Veer as I have within the last year quit intoxicants and I dont wish to quit anything in the near future as I might implode and go mad, lol.Maybe somewhere in the distant future, who knows, but if I ever go veg it would be because of health reasons and simplicity of preparation etc.

Diet of humans is decided by environment factors which are in total control of God. If God wanted humans to be vegetarians then  why he did not create fertile land like northern India in whole world. It's almost impossible to be vegetarian in coastal areas , icy regions and middle East type desert . Apart from India nowhere we found vegetarianism in world .

Not taking any sides in this debated to death meat topic but just wanted to say that in my life experience some of the biggest b*st*rds, untrustworthy lowlife pieces of shit that I have come across were lifelong 100% vegetarian. And the most honest stand up people who helped me in life were non veg. This has convinced me that being veg has Nothing to do with spirituality or morality. This is what I strongly believe in as it is what I personally experienced. Gurfateh.
