  1. Polygamy or polyandry was a part of the punjabi culture a few hundred years ago and not of sikhism, sikhism doenst impose polygamy or polyandry on anyone but it expects its followers to do the right thing and which would be marrying only once,, (exception to the rule: widow re-marriage and divorce)....multiple marriages will defy one of the fundamental teachings of sikhism i.e; "Equality* .......

  4. khushwant singh in his book " History of the sikhs volume-1" pg 50-51 mentions 3 wives of guru hargobind ji (damodari, nanaki and marwahi) and three wives of guru gobind singh ji ( sundari, jito and sahib devan)....and that sahibzada ajit singh was born to sundari, and sahibzadas jujhar singh, zorawar singh and fateh singh were born to jito. P raghunath rai also mentions the same in his book "history of punjab vol-2"...and his book is the prescribed text for the degree courses of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar !!.....how do i know that? well i did my degree from this uni and read his books ! apalling ! How can some people say that the gurus did not have more than one wife when the universities of punjab say they did?? If the gurus having more than one wife is wrong wouldnt AKAL TAKHT have opposed it???where is the ruling by the akal takht on this matter?? I cannot digest the fact that the gurus had more than one wife.....i dont want to beleive its true just like a few others in here,,but the history says otherwise........and it is accepted in punjab ,,the birth place of sikhism!! i wonder why no one debates to wat is being taught in the unis....and by doing so we are accepting that the gurus had more than one wife......forget about debating no one even says that its a controversial and unsettled matter....how can one include that in the curriculum? am gonna go the local gurdwara today and argue about this cause they have put an article on the notice board which mentions multiple wives of the gurus!!!! i want the source.......ill post watever feedback i get
  5. Didnt some of our gurus had more than one wife!.......and kings like maharja ranjit singh(more than 5 wives)......how come?? we are supposed to practise monogamy (one marriage)!!arent we????
  6. I got this poem in my email............. The Bully By Harjit Singh Lakhan Racist ruffian, low-down scum Foul mouthed thug do you think its fun To beet up a kid who's half your size? Knock his turban and punch his eyes He gets good grades and it makes you sick turban-head's clever and you're so thick. You push and punch and steal his lunch You swing your fist his nose goes crunch Bleeding Paki! Bloody Paki! Swear a lot then steal his money Grab his arms - push him to the wall Punch! Crunch! He takes the fall Kick! Spit! Watch him crawl Walk away from his crying call. Lessons start at the school from hell Classroom's more like a prison cell Sitting in his blood stained clothes Tears in his eyes and a busted nose Bully boys don't stop their taunting No teacher saw his daily haunting No teacher said you're a lion Singh Be BRAVE, be STRONG but never give in School bell rings:"Bye-Bye friends I ain't coming to hell again!" Running home as fast as he can No one knows his secret plan Up the stairs for freedom call He escapes from his body walls Free at last from the violence Hangs himself in deathly silence. Where he ends we begin Bullies won't kill another Singh Unite as CHILDREN make the change Don't let things stay the same We want freedom - no more crime We want freedom all the time No more Singhs will die this way Unite as CHILDREN - fight them today! CHILDREN UNITE IT'S TIME TO FIGHT THE BULLY BOYS THE RACIST NOISE DON'T LIVE IN DREAD TELL THE TEACHER INSTEAD YOU'RE NOT ALONE LET YOUR TROUBLES BE KNOWN Dedicated to Vijay Singh, aged 13, who hung himself at home in Manchester, after being bullied at school "Jin ke Chit Kathor hai, oh bahe na Satgur paas" "Sachiar Sikh Bethe Satgur paas"
