I also question the way the Punj Pyare are made out to be today versus what their original purpose would have been, we should also distinguish between the original Punj from 1699 and the concept of the Punj Pyare for purposes of admistering amrit, maybe this will help clarify the debate.

the reason why the long arms were considered an important characteristic is because it ties in with the hari avtar thing, all the puran avatars having those long arms which extend to the knees. Its worth noting that in the gauriya samprada literature, chaitanya mahaprabhu who is likewise considered an avatar of bhagvaan is described as having had very long arms too.

I've read and heard about some udasi's, udasi prem das for one, who during guru sahibs time became 'khalsay' or nihungs. Are there any cases of any Nihungs who have become Nirmalay? or Udasis?

I remember reading one story where the apparent Udasi who found Sarbloh Granth use to be a Nihung. Again this story is most likely just a story. Any documented cases?

In terms of Nirmala Sampardya they would need to be blessed and taken in by a Gurdev correct? Same goes with Udasis?
