  1. no im sorry i dont agree....sikhs as a nation need a voice...we are a minority and as such will often get pushed to the side....the world view of sikhs is that we are just violent terrorists....when i was growing up people often used to ask me about sikhi...their first question was always 'so you guys are the warrior race'. i dont know aboput anyone else but that used to make me think, why are we known to the world as violent people. sikhi says sant sipahi.they latch onto this warrior thing and then look at terrorism in punjab and label us....if we dont educate people about who we are.what we believe and how we are peaceloving before anyone else we'll have this unjust reputation for life. i dont know why you feel its a bad thing to tell people about your religion. infact i was once talking to a jamaican woman who was asking me about why i wear kirpan keep dari, wear dastar.i explained this all as ebst as i could and she was really interested.she told me how she once asked a jewish person about his faith but there reply was to go to the synnagogue and find out herself...she was put off by this remark. so if someone wants to know explain to them with patience and pyaar. When in university people constantly ask me why i dont drink...they seem to feel that all we're good for is getting tillah. To me this is digusting, and shows the need for education. Ignorance is so dangerous.
  2. and veerji dont take me for a fool...when referring to a person there is only that definition of sexy, sexy does NOT mean proud...or wlse you would use the word proud...
  3. veerji i am by no means fanatical...i just believe in gurmat... Look dont get defensive i merely stated my opinion you stated yours oif we disagree than fine theres no need for you to start telling me about tolerance and comparing me to bin laden. if you think it is wrong for people to help eachother than fine. but i personally feel that we are all prone to making gultiah and we should support each other as much as possible. Veerji you said most of us are not saints...it is exactly this reason that people need guidance from each other... if you felt that people dont need guidance and advice from others than why do people come on discussion forums to ask questions. if you don not agree then fine. i would never dream of compelling anyone to do anything. HOwever guidance i would offer with clean intentions and to the best of my knowledge of gurmat and likewise i would accept it from anyone, whoever they may be.
  4. sorry n3o veerji i didnt understand what your post meant?? do you disagree with the fact that we should educate people abbout who we are or do you agree?? sorry!
  5. Brahmgyaan means you have knowledge of everything right....They have the powers of ridhia sidhia whereby one can tell the future aswell as various other miracles.... Therefore this proves that science is NOT the only way you can tell the future. The person doing the fortune telling could have ridhia sidhia.
  6. oh and for those that do not know what i meant in the poll here is the question again Do you feel it is okay to call yourself sexy or caste names according to GURMAT....not personal belief...
  7. This has everything to do woth sikhi... have you ever heard of brahmgyaan??
  8. ummm..... not quite veerji mocking a singh who lost is life due to ignorance is disgusting. Just letting people know who we are through means of interfaith etc does not mean im a fanatic and im there to convert. if someone likes it then thats good and i hope they enjoy sikhi as much as i do. but i wouldnt say to anyone 'oh i tink you should be sikh' to the entire sangat i ask.... is it fanatical to thiink that sikhs should educate people about who we are.. 1st of all its FACT that in Guru Ji's times there were dereh set up to reveal sikhi to the masses. Nihungs in Hazoor sahib have converted people, yogi Harbhajan Singh in america has converted people. I dont know why you've got the attitude with me...and why you have this twisted view of the world.. Veerji you need to chill out.
  9. Vaheguroo Ji ka Khalsa Vaheguroo Ji ki fateh Please take part in the poll. This is not intended for offense but just for my curiousity over a matter. Basically a discussion has arose as to what names are reasonable in the light of gurmat... It is my opinion that names like the following: Jatt , Jatti, Ramghariya or any caste for that matter sexy or words of that nature are not really right for singhs/kaurs to be calling themselves... I feel that by calling themselves caste names they are going against one of the main aspects of sikhi which is there is no caste... also those names which are like sexy are there to incite kaam and show ego. saach kehai so bikhai samaanai || If someone tells him the truth, he looks upon that as poison. dass will provide 3 definitions of sexy from different dictionaries 1) Dictionary.com - Arousing or tending to arouse sexual desire or interest. 2)Merriam webster online dictionary - sexually suggestive or stimulating 3)Cambridge advanced dictionary - sexually attractive if that is not acceptable than we see what our guru says kaaeiaa rath bahu roop rachaahee || Those who love their bodies and try different looks, thin ko dhaeiaa supanai bhee naahee ||2|| do not feel compassion, even in dreams. ||2|| mahuraa hovai hathh mareeai chakheeai || Pride in one's status is like poison-holding it in your hand and eating it, you shall die It is clear to see that these do not sound like the things a gursikh would describe himself as... If dass is wrong than please accept my apologies. I hope noone takes offense to this. I feel that Singhs and kaurs should help each other out in following gurmat as much as possible, thats what sangat is for. And if you feel that I have done something oulth to gurmat than please correct this moorakh also. saach kehai so bikhai samaanai || If someone tells him the truth, he looks upon that as poison.
  10. look at the end of the day veerji its your choice. i dont want to upset anyone or haveanyone complain im using the wrong thread so ill start this on a new one
  11. yep i agree....as i read somewhere before scientific theiries are only correct til there is another theory proving them wrong...or something like that...either way science will come to know what sikhi has been saying for ages.
  12. what does science know about these matters?? they are ignorant to the truth. They dont know about karma and reincanation etc... sikhi says that our entire destiny is written on our foreheads. science wouldnt agree... basically this comes down to this...when it comes to spiritual matters scientists are moorakhs(well most of them). therefore what steven hawking has to say about karma and destiny is worth nothing.
  13. why would you not tell people about what sikhi is??? look at the singh who was killed ecause they thought he was arab. if we dont educate people about who we are then people will remain ifnorant to us. ] Also if Yogi Harbhajan Singh did not tell the American Sikhs about Sikhi than they would not have found the anand that they are now enjoying.. sikhi needs to spread...its a seva.
  14. if following gurmat is being prude then thats fine... im not asking him to remove it...i just said that i felt it was against gurmat. 'sukhsingh' veerji...noone will listen if you say things with a hothead. gursikhs should be sweetspoken, so if he is doing something wrong just explain your reasons against and leave it to him. you cant force anyone to do anything... singhs need a little pride or else we would just look scruffy. take pride in your appearance but that doesnt go to the extent of calling oneself sexy...could you imagine your guru calling himself sexy?! at the end of the day the dictionary definition of sexy is arousing sexual desire. if the sangatthinks this is ok for a gursikh then thats ok. but beast you agree with sexy_siingh. You should be encouraging our brothers to be in tune with gurmat as much as possible.
  15. veerji this we'll never end... please accept my apologies and forget i said anything.
  16. you're absolutely right by putting character ahead. if someone has bana and the rest of the works but no real jeevan than he will be shown by dharamrai... BUT we must remember what our guru has taught us... to be in humility, and i guess what it boils down to is that a singh shouldnt be saying im sexy...that not the way of a singh....je me gulth hovah then accept my apologies...you are my veer and so i would only want to show you anything that you do thats not according to gurmat and if i do anything it is your duty as my veer to steer me on the correct path... that the whole idea of sangat just that this sangat is online. calling yourself sexy would imply kaam and ego...things we should strive to avoid. just to show you what i mean dictionary.com has the following definition of sexy.. adj. sex·i·er, sex·i·est - Arousing or tending to arouse sexual desire is this the type of thing that singhs should be saying to their sisters and in front of guru ji's sikhs and sangat
  17. 6)or dont drink desi and do more paath by which everything will be revealed.
  18. veerji i think you misunderstood....the better sikh is cleasrly the one who listens to his guru... clearly is a classroom, the student that obeys his teacher and does all his work and follows the classroom code uis the better student. the one who disobeysthe teacher and goes against what the teacher says is worse. this doesnt mean his potential is not good, it simply means he should reduce his ego and submit himself to his teacher. as in the example, our guru is our teacher and we are the students. we need to listen to gain anywhere. we live the life of rehit so that we can do good actions....good actions and being a good person only come through Vaheguroos grace. for good thoughts and actions we must remove our ego and this is done by serving the true guru
  19. well you have every right to keep that as your name... but all i am stating is that it is against gurmat...could you imagine gursikhs calling themselves sexy or even ever using the word.. veerji its up to you but it doesnt look good
  20. no sikhism isnt islam but its still nearly universally accepted by all jathebandies and sampardas that the head should be covered. its not fanaticism...its sikhi...noone says anyone HAS to do anything...at the end of the day it doesnt make you not a sikh if you dont, but why would you want to go against what your guru says. also veerji...with all due respect...calling yourself sexy singh is not in line with gurmat...
  21. a sikh and khalsa are the same...for someone to adopt a guru they have to take their amrit, wether this was charan amrit before the khalsa or khande di pahul. Udhasis are not sikhs and never will be. Baba Sri Chand did not accept Guru Angad Dev Ji.....just cause he was Guru ji's son does not make him sikh. If that were to be true than Prithi Chand would also be respected. Khalsa=sikh. Please dont take my words harshly, but I would like to just say a few things to those who have not made that important step... Taking Guru Ji's amrit is essential to make your jeevan suffal. We donot know Vaheguroo Ji's hukam and you may die tomorrow, so don't hesitate.. Remember if you take Guru Ji's amrit, he himself will protect you and help you keep rehit. Rehit pyaara mukhko sikh pyaara nahee So the above line from Guru Ji should ocnvince you. and those of you who say i dont want to take it coz im scared of what my friends will say...then ask yourself...who do i love more?my Guru who is my eternal companion or my temporary friends. Make excuses all you want, you will only get out of sikhi what you put in..
  22. exactly...i think wat ppl dont realise here is that he was using this conversion as a political tool.if they wanted 2 convert to sikhi they would regardless of what any so called sikh leaders tried...they would convert for the love...veerji is rite...just converting for the lack of castism in sikhi is wrong..
  23. i dnt wnt 2 speak on behalf of my punj pyaare, i can only say that you ask your punj pyaareh urself as they are the only ones to give you the justification..if u find it pathetic then we will leave it at that...sorry for wasting your time bhull chuk maaf
  24. ok its up 2 u i can only tell u how i saw it.. but khandaydhaar during my amritsanchaar there was sum1 present 2 do pesh because he had revealed the method to someone else...but hey you have the right to your own opinion, and im sorry for bringing up a topic that certain members of the forum found so funny bhull chuk maaf
