"Please come under the fold of Satguru, take amrit, read the bani, and talk amoung yourselves of the Panth and the Kesari Nishan Sahib (the sikh flag) and of your true leader the Guru Granth Sahib Ji... and when the time comes for confrontation don't kill the poor, don't molest the women and don't trouble the old, but don't spare anyone who insults Guru Ji!"

  3. very briefly....

    The three horizontal lines are known as "Tri-paundra" and are usually marked with Vibhuti (holy ash - does not decay and is the final product of all that lives). Some use Bhasm (holy askh from Hom (fire used for making sacrfices).

    Sometimes the centre line is also marked with a red dot in the centre, that represents the 3rd eye of Shivji Maharaj (Shiv-Shakti - that energy that creates and destroys seen and unseen forms of creation).

    Depending on whom u speak to, Tri-paundra can represent:

    a) the 3 gunas (virtues) - Sattva (truth/purity), Raja (dynamism/energy/passion), Tama (disintegration/darkness) (mentioned in Shiv Puraan, and also in Soondraya Lehri)

    B) the Sanatan Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh...ie, creation, preservation and destruction)

    c) purity, penance, and knowledge (signs of an ascetic)

    d) the 3 chains - Anav (source of ignorance that blinds us from reaching enlightenment), Maya (illusion of creation), and Karm (deeds/destiny)

    e) the three worlds - heaven, earth, the netherworld

    Some Sadhus, such as the Naga babas, Aghori babas recite what is known as the Mrityoonjay Mantr (from Upanishaads), that roughly translates to:

    “We salute Shiva with the 3 eyes, who nurtures and spreads sweet smelling fragrance in our existance. We ask that he frees us from the chains of change, sorrow and death without effort, like the falling of a ripe eggplant from its stem.â€

  4. guruji says:

    He who constantly keeps in mind Intent upon Ever Awake Living Light of Consciousness And never swerves from the thought of One God; And he who is adorned with full faith in Him And is wholly steeped in the Love of the Lord, And even by mistake never puts his faith in fasting Or in worship of tombs, sepulchre or crematoriums, Caring not for pilgrimages, alms, charities, Penances or austerities; Or anything else but devotion to One God; And in whose heart and soul the Divine Light Shines forth as the full moon He is known as Khalsa, the purest of the pure."

    (Guru Gobind Singh- Swayas)

    also, bhai nand lal singh ji says:

    "Khalsa is one who fights in the front ranks.

    Khalsa is one who conquers the five evils.

    Khalsa is one who destroys doubt.

    Khalsa is one who gives up ego;

    Khalsa is one who does not stray from his spouse;

    Khalsa is one who looks upon all as his own;

    Khalsa is one who attunes himself with God."

    that should explain it for u
