Yes that’s how it’s spelled

Where does it say:
"ਲਿਖੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ "
It probably says Siri instead of likhi. In Ganda singhs collection of hukamname most of them begin with Siri Guru jio Di aageya hai.

Wonderful. I read it earlier today and was planning to post it here on the forum.

That’s a good price for the manuscript

There is no such thing in Sikhi pappiman

What do you think so far - does the charitars warn against deception in many forms, or does it teach deception in many forms ?
In many forms = deception through flattery, telling the truth, boosting egos, etc.
-
Much of it appears to be about women in general

Before reading the Charitars, one (wise intellectuals above the age of 25) should also read the views of the great Chanakya jee on women. It might provide them some background, as to why Sri Satguru jee compiled so many Charitars.
Chanakya jee's views on women are very far-sighted. It is just surreal. It is, as if he was living in a feminist society and describing their characteristics. Obviously, his views don't apply to all women, but they are very relevant in today's age, especially in the western world.
Bhul chuk maaf
His views are out right discriminatory against women and are heavily based on his sadhu vaishnava leanings. Sikhs can’t learn anything from those passages.

You should always strive to pronounce it correctly

I've been collecting budhist art through pantings, miniatures and handwritten manuscripts for years. I'm quite saddened that Sikhi does'nt have that same kind of art heritage - they''re extremely beautiful

It might be a good idea to compile our research of the first 50 charitars into a document so we can have all the good and relevant information in one place.
I tried something similiar here. Feel free to continue the charitar summaries by going through the earlier posts:

Gursewak: What would you have wanted Jagraj Singh to say so that it was ground breaking and original?

My memory is fading- was there a mentioning of the son being presented etc in the earlier charitars?

A good idea to try and get some idea of the underlying themes throughout the Granth as it progresses through charitars.
For instance, it's important to recognise that the King saw the folly of his actions and withdrew the death sentence on his son.
Sorry but when did he withdraw the death sentence ?

Interesting that you heard a Buddhist Lama say It. I fear within the next few decades these inter religious mentionings will disappear

“The one podcast” by shabad singh Khalsa is another one to keep eyes on. It’s a radio show where he interviews researchers, artists, political activists, authors, scholars etc in regards to bringing out the deeper aspects of sikhi by people of knowledge.

I think there is a lot of potential in their Canadian parcharak Harnam Singh. He seems to have been schooled in samprdayic traditions as he brings up vedant terminology every now and then and he also does Katha of passages from Suraj Prakash Granth. I think he will definately be a moving star for the BOS.
See one example here in this series from a Sikhan Di Bhagat Mala sakhi
Nanak Naam is another ngo that is really popular and adds weight to Sikh philosophy in a western language mainly targeting western audiences.

Gurfateh
let’s have a discussion on basics of Sikhs, and other Sikh ngos in general.
What do people think of the basics of Sikhi and how they’re doing today ?
And are there any Sikh organisations (parchar , social work, political etc) out there you can recommend and think are doing great work ?
