  1. Thanks curious man veer ji, just to add on patanjali was called gurmukh by bhai gurdas ji.

hanji.. but i am talking about vashisht muni ji (who gave vidya to Shri Ram).. not maharishi patanjali of yog darshana.

the above tuk is by Guru Amardas ji in the following beautiful, simple shabad :

    http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=2242

    :)

  2. as per yog vashisht (creation chapter), the jeev in the form of vegetation, rocks, soil, etc are in the seventh state of ignorance (sushopti). Hence, no feeling of dukh sukh.

and i am referring to yog vashisht because Gurbani claims that rishi vashisht ji was a gurmukh -

  3. please have a look on www.gursevak.com for sukhmani sahib steek as per sant gurbachan singh ji.. written by Bhagat Jaswant Singh ji.. about 900pages.

    http://www.gursevak.com/sukhmani-sahib-steek

full of arths from all viewpoints.. sakhis and loads of health stuff :)

    u can listen audio too.

also the japji sahib teeka along with reharaas and kirtan sohila sahib by sant gurbachan singh ji..800 pages 577mb download it at the bottom of page.. point 4.

its good to see the chardikala of bhai gurbaksh singh ji.. i m totally supporting him for this cause.. i m not offending him in anyway.. i have great respect for him..

but just a question for our future.. y we sikhs have opted for this" hunger strike "style protest.. like i m not complaining ..just want to assure myself... becoz we know this govt and badal and this system will not change.. even if he dies it would be like a fly has dead and the system will remain same...

y dont we sikhs just give a kick in the butt of such a sarkar.. do not vote at all for anyone .. do not let pass any legislative bill.. just protest ..stop the work.. stop going to govt offices.. stop driving taxis trucks.. stop working on farms.. stop the money exchange.. their are hundreds of ways..

y the need of hunger strike.. yes he is still in chardikala.. thts because he must be a pure at heart gursikh.. no doubt in that.. he will surely accept death smilingly... but what wud be the result.. one more added in the list of shaheedi.. and the time goes on..!!

its soo frustrating... i feel like crying and sometimes angry..

  5. Well, what I think is what Puratan Granths say.. but I am unable to decipher it. Moreover while getting deep i face the above mentioned questions!

    examples:

i read various commentaries from Advaita scholars.. about avidya but then counter arguments from vishishtadvaita and dvait scholars which are generally the above ones!!

i read Kavi Santokh ji's 5th rut along with Dhudikey wale's and Hari singh Randhawa waley's katha about avidya 42nd adhyaya.. but its not deep explanation.. they just state that avidya or agyan is bin akaar (but thats soul/god too), its bin janam (again thats soul/god too), rahey ik braham ke desh mein (that means it stays someplace in GOD.. how????????????? where ????? no clear description)

then i came to excellent source Prabodh Chandar Natak where how Agyan creats the whole universe is explained but its too difficult punjabi and i dont feel it still answers those questions but maybe it does as i m not able to translate it word by word. Start reading from sawayaa:

    http://www.panjabdigilib.org/webuser/searches/displayPageContent.jsp?ID=8481&page=24&CategoryID=1&Searched=parbodh

    thanks for considering this topic!!

  6. WJKK WJKF,

I have read few books and articles (vedantic and Suraj prakash's rut 5) about the nature of avidya!!

    But i m still confused!!!

instead of telling what i think (maybe i m completely wrong),, i want to ask / discuss with u guys..

    lets get into it!!

    1. What is Avidya?

    2. How / when it is created - because Kavi santokh ji states (bin janam, bin akaar...), thats same definition of Brahman.

    2. If it really is something real, then where does it resides?

3.If its unreal.. then how does it affects us?

    4. If brahman is all Anand roop then how come avidya is present in Brahaman or even in Atama??

  9. With Guru Maharaj's Apaar Kirpa the Akal Design team is proud to announce iGurbani for iOS devices.

This app requires no internet connection and contains all of the Sikh Scriptures.

The focus of this app is to allow the user to accurately read the shabads from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji following a revolutionary style of showing the vishraams. Instead of commas and other punctuation the vishraams are highlighed in a specific color.

PLEASE NOTE: Since the Gurmukhi is from a new source and the database has been rebuilt from the ground up there are some errors that we could not catch during development. We are going to rely on the Sangat to help us identify and correct those errors.

  10. this article... though not in easy english.. is very much inline with the title.. read it.. and we can have good discussion with many other gurmukhs in this forum!!

    http://sikhspectrum.com/2005/08/the-quintessence-of-sikhism-the-doctrinal-sovereignty/

if possible ... i wud appreciate if u can summarize (tat nichor) this article.. it really gets interesting.. as it compares advait.. dvait.. buddhist.. sankhya.. etc with sikhi!!

  11. WJKK WJKF

is it ok to print sainchiyan/pothiyan and gutka sahibs even if they are different from current SGGSji version. please have a look: http://gurmatbibek.com/forum/read.php?3,16466,16466#msg-16466

moreover, heres the reason for the numbering system: http://www.gurmatbibek.com/contents.php?id=431

if its correct.. do we really have a wrong version of SGGS which we mattha tek daily?

  12. the person meant that it is way harder to meditate in oldage as compared to teenage and grihast jeevan. (this, even i agree, only if that person have never done bhagti.. otherwise bhagti gets intense as u grow older)

first of all.. physically he/she is weak... then he/she has done so many bad karams.. that it is the karams that makes the bhagti of an old person hard... so its rare that a person in oldage gets the realization..

in essence of this hardness and rareness its ok to say that "buddi mala parvaan nahi.". u have done so many bad karams that even if u try bhagti.. because of being habitual to bad practices it very very hard to mold an old person way of life towards bhagti.

old people doing amrit chakk just for getting saved is worthless.. as for the example sau chuhe kha ke billi hajj ko chali

--- again, not my points... i beleive the opossite.. but i cudnt express in words.. mayb even i m wrong.. so need sangat's opinion!

    thanks
