  1. It just happens, you have to do it with your surti though, not out loud. It involves controlling your thoughts, so all your mind is focused on the Paath. You're 'thinking' Jap Ji Sahib rather than reciting it. When you see "Ik Oankaar", the mind completes the first paurri etc. With more practice, it will complete the whole ang, then the whole Paath.

It takes a lot more concentration and love for Gurbani than reading out slowly, which is why it takes time to develop.

  2. I now live in a remote place with no Sangat, poor internet etc. I only get darshan of Sangat every 6 months or so. What I've found is that going into Sangat, doing seva etc gives the spirit a huge boost. It's literally cleansing. I leave full of motivation, Chardi Kala, ready for anything!

Over time, immersed in the world, this feeling wanes, until I get back to Sangat.

    Dhan Guru Di Sangat!

  3. He stayed with a friend of mine once, in the UK a few years ago. According to my friend, he was always up early, doing loads of paath etc ad not talking of anything but Gurbani.

Hard to tell what the truth is here, and what her motivation is for going public now. Why not charge him for harassment? He was in the UK a few weeks ago, did katha without any issues.

    rab jaane.

  4. 1. Baikri Bani- When one recites naam with javan(tongue), hout(lips), khaieyal(thoughts) that is called Baikari Bani.

    2. Madhma Bani- When one recites naam in Kant(throat) without moving lips...just with the thoughts is called Madhma Bani.

    3. Pasanti Bani- When one recites naam in hirda(heart).

    4. Para Bani- When one recites naam in Nabhi(Navel) without moving tongue and with the thoughts. In this stage vahiguroo naam gets infused in rom rom of the body. Meditation goes in automatic mode. There is no need for concentration.

    here i need some help!!

there are 4 types of jaap as mentioned above i only know 1st and 2nd jaap but i dont know how do i do 3rd and 4th jaap pls help!!! :(

    It's automatic. Focus on 'Waheguru'.

  5. Why did the army attack many other Gurudware as well?

Sant Ji, like Sikhs in general, was a thorn in the side of a corrupt government. Indira Gandhi openly called Sikhs 'dogs' and thought we don't deserve any of the legitimate requests that were being made, which didn't help matters.

The best books on the topic are by Cynthia Mahmood and 'The Gallant Defender' by retired (Hindu) magistrate A.R. Darshi.

  6. Discourses on the Beyond volume 3 a book written by Sant Baba Waryam Singh ji

Anyone else who wants to read can grab it from

Good stuff, but I don't think that is really by Sant Isher Singh Ji, but Sant Waryam Singh Ji. Sant Isher Singh Ji explain Anhad Shabad etc somewhat differently in their audio recordings, and from what I gathered speaking to their old sangat and sevadars.

Real anhad shabad is only heard after we reach the avastha where rom-rom simran is experienced. It is the most beautiful kirtan you can imagine. You can probably see Shaheed Singhs etc before reaching this avastha.

The important thing is to maintain bairaag and keep focused on our ultimate goal, Waheguru!

Has anyone experienced shaktian etc offering seva? The distractions on this path are many and very powerful.

  7. Sat1176, today I logged onto this forum for the first time in months, if not over a year. This thread is the best thing I've read on the internet in a very long time. That child is not yours, he is Waheguru's. Whatever happens is Waheguru's hukam. Your son will take as many breaths as have been written for him, according to his past karma.

Leave everything to Waheguru, you can only do Ardas with complete concentration. Talk to Waheguru.

    Akaal Sahai!!!

  8. Purely political - to have their own Gurudwarey to run. The election system always favours the majority, and politicians always find something to divide the electorate. In India, Tarkhans were effectively locked out of elected posts because of this and finding themselves in the majority in E. Africa led to the current situation. It is still virtually impossible for a Tarkhan in Nairobi (Kenya) to become a member of the 'bhappa' dominated Singh Sabha and vice-versa. The Jatts have control of a couple of Gurudwarey as well.

Sad state of affairs. The complete lack of Maryada in most Ramghariya Gurudwarey (infact all Gurudwarey in Kenya, even Singh Sabha and Nanaksar) is shocking. Langar is now a meal hosted by rich people for their friends, cooked by outside caterers, self service buffet style, wearing shoes, heads uncovered etc.

Going to take a revolution to sort things out, maybe with violence.

Note: in the UK, Tarkhans were again the minority and being unable to win elections, they made their own Gurudwarey.
