  1. I don't know if thats true though, because I saw rehatnamas saying Viah too.

Viah is a shortened form of the full word which is 'vivah'.

Puratan Itihaas tells us that Guru Nanak Sahib took laavan around a Pothi Sahib of Gurbani (my mind fails me, could have been just JapJi Sahib - will have to find time to look through some granths). This tradition continued until Adi Granth Sahib Ji was given by Guru Arjan Sahib, and later Guru Graanth Sahib Ji.

Many Sikh families have Hindu ancestry, even going back just a couple of generations. This explains why some rituals carried over like going round fire etc. Things got really mixed up during the raaj of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji and the period of turmoil just after. Too much maya does weird things to apney.

Anand Sahib is called that because it brings Anand, not because it is to be used during happy occasions. Anand Karaj is called that because, well you know how apney love weddings.

  2. World is truly a tamasha! Some people want to get married and can't find rishtey, i didn't want to get married and had rishtey coming at me left right and centre.

You'd be amazed at what some people consider to be 'practising Amritdhari', lol.

At the end of the day, it's in Guru Ji's hands. Even the poeple we see on the streets are seen due to the game of sanjog that is pre-written.

  3. I had a cup of tea after two years, a few months ago. Brought out the sweats, and I could feel my heartbeat accelerate as the caffeine kicked in. Couldn't work, let alone meditate.

It's funny, there was a time when I had to drive lond distance late at night most days and I lived off Red Bull and the other 'energy' drink in a can that looks like a beer can - relentless? Anyway, it reached a point they had no effect on me. Went back to spraying my face with water to stay awake.

  4. The BBC did a program on the history of Israel, there were some clips there. In fact, some of the history text books we used at school had photos of Palestinians giving flowers to newly arrived Jewish refugees.

Just last week, US President Obama mentioned the 1961 borders vs todays borders. This prompted some newspapers to show just how much land Israel has taken unfairly.

  5. Are palestiinians fighting for islamic state? or they are fighting for secular state ? They have shown their intention very clear that they want to kill Jews .

That's nonsense. That land was taken from them unfairly. After WW2, Palestinians actually welcomed Jews very warmly, they had no idea what was to come.

They don't want to live in harmony with them. Also Arabs have the entire middle east why can't the muslim countries just share a little space with their muslim brothers.

That's missing the point. It's a question of justice, and what is right.

Also in the world their are many conflicts going on.I have never seen Sikhs supporting Sri lankan Tamils or Tibetan Budhists.then why to poke our nose in palestinian affairs

Look harder! Also, Guru Sahib taught us to fight for justice and for oppressed people, no matter what their religion.

I'm guessing you're in India, from what I've seen of Indian media and their anti-Muslim bias, it isn't your fault.

The very essence of a 'sant-sipahi' is to fight for Dharm and to do the right thing even if it means giving your life. Nowadays, we are stuck in our comfort zones and 'can't be bovvered'.

  6. LOL! Jagdeep's bias coming out in his 'research' for Sarloh.

I know some of the people mentioned as interviewees personally, and they have the utmost respect for the Taksal. Quite a few Nihang Dals have always sent Bhujangis to learn Santhiya from various branches of the Taksal, and continue to do so.

How about asking Baba Nihal Singh Ji, Baba Surjeet Singh Ji, Baba Joginder SIngh Ji, Baba Avtar Singh Ji, Baba Prem Singh Ji, what they think of DamDami Taksal?

There has to be a limit to ego and hate.

  7. ^ So we may as well forget using Vaheguroo Mantar then according to the tuks you have posted.

Those tuks refer to mantars like the ones used by people to bring other people under their control, black-magic, tantra, kalaams etc.

Gurbani is something different altogether, and Waheguru (Gurmantar) is unique amongst all mantars, there is nothing else like it, and never wiil be. There are no words to describe it.

Anyway, Silence veera, some people just have an interest in improving concentration etc. We also have threads on here about weight-training advice etc, yet the body is maya and going to be burned at the end. Hope you get the point.

  8. Ive seen this alot within our community in england, punjabis looking down on singhs who keep their dhari and make fun of them.

    strange.

You should try Kenya.....the UK is still ok - loads of Sangat, events etc.

It's an inferiority complex really. From a young age their parents probably harked on about the superiority of Western ways, language etc. Now, skin lightening creams ffs.

Even in India, I've noticed most parents dress their kids in western clothes - girls in dresses, boys in shorts etc. 'English-medium' schools are the inthing.
