  1. You heard the same things at a Sikh Society meeting?

As regards taking Amrit - every Guru (Sikh or otherwise) has an initation where the initiate pledges his/her dedication to the path and becomes a sikh of that guru. So, in a way , it is correct to say we become Sikhs of Guru Sahib once we give our heads and receive Amrit.

The thing about prayers is ridiculous - I'd be very surprised if anyone at a Sikhsociety event, BOSS or otherwise, said this to you.

You don't know the half of it. From some of the events and sikh societies I have been to, some of the stuff they are trying to push is pretty extreme, I was just too young to notice before.

  2. Ironically Punjabis no longer even care about Sikhi. Just go to Punjab and see for yourself how everyone cuts and trims hair, including the GIRLS!

Girls is going to far, when girls have short haircut, it just very un-traditional looking. I don't like it. Even traditonal (including hindu) families are against this, regardless of how much they follow sikhi.

Now sadly in India, even the 'Sikh' girls are following western Punjabi girls by asking for a clean shaven only boy which they term as 'cut surd'. Are these the ungrateful Sikhs that Guru Gobind Singh Jee sacrificed his entire family for?

What is a surd, can u explain to me further?

  3. Good day all!

I went to the gurudwara last night and was doing seva, cleaning up/brooming the floor and there was a giani there who i approached and asked for some Pashaad to take home for my family. Quite abruptly he said that im not a sikh if i havnt had amrit. I said to the giani that, i may not have had amrit, but i consider myself a child of the khalsa. He then went on about how the youth are going away from sikhi. i said to the the giani, who was very abrupt, that im not intereseted in the politics. I said to the giani that, i may cut my beard, but i get up in the morning and do my Japji Sahib, sukhmani sahib and shabaad hazaaray. the giani was stunned for some reason. Was he correct in saying that my prayers to god will not be answered if i dont take amrit. also, i questioned the giani (Please people do not take me wrong) the Guru's from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to sri guru tegh Bahadur Ji had not taken amrit, does that make them non-devotees of god? He gave me no reply and didnt say any thing. please can you shed some light on this please. Again, i dont mean to offend anyone.

Damn that is the same kattar/extremist stuff are teaching at BOSS uni sikh societies these days. There are gurdwareh with these views? :o :x

  4. I have noticed something about BOSS and their university sikh societies in the UK. They seem to like to put down other cults that they find controversial eg namdharis and radhasoamis, but at the same time find it OK to accept the raagmala rejecting AKJ and the other different things they do. Who sees this as favouritism? lol

Is it ok to see AKJ as controversial just like the other cults?

  5. yeh first of all my friend never invited me knowing what im like.then when pressed for an invite he would not let us on the coach to nottingham. then we just went on the coach after he left. me and my frind could beleive what they started doing.

they opened up bacardi and whisky-shisky and started drinking major style. when we arrived at the gurdwara some were drunk and they had to be put in a room in the gurdwara to sleep off the drink. i saw a man go to the toilet and come back out with a large damp patch in his trousers and he either couldn t open his zip, or just urniatd over his clothes .

i saw the granthi looking very smart in his kurta-pjama with his kirpan over the top of it. this very same granthi was knocking back shorts in the club after.

anyways me and my friend ws hungry so we tried to get some food. there was only bacon and egss there. now me was not veggie then but asked for non-veg food as it seemed weird to eat bacon and eggs in the gurdwara. took about 10 mins to get some veg food.

then the gurdwara event fininshed and all went to the party. the grooms grandad after the party on the way home started talking on the microfone on the coach. he started by " wjkk, wjkf " then he goes " eh sare loki bhen admin cut heh ..."

when i got home at 11 o clock at night, i wondered whether i would wake up the following morning thinking this was all a dream.

and another that has always stuck wiv me is they had a big picture of Sant-Sipahi Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the langar hall.

so where in the panth do bhatrey fit in, do they fit into sanatan because they are there since Guru Nanak Dev Jis time, or maybe they have been SGPCfied which is difficult to believe with the full english breakfast and drinking amirt-shuk giani, but then there's the Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale picture.

Seriously, where do they fit in?

oh yeah and another thing, they exist since Guru nanak's time, so I need an explanation, is meat allowed in some non-SGPC langars, because I have heard of meat being served even in the Gurus times, but I do not know. :(

Also is it true most bhatrey live in a certain area in the uk, but forgot where it was.

Also I got respect for bhatras, they marry their kids off at a good age, not like kids these days gettin upto no good and doing lafungpuna.
