    I should add:

I have heard from certain black people I know, that they feel some resentment that the frontlining they have done in confronting racism, benefits others who don't make the sacrifices they make.

Also cultural appropriation is an issue. Like we have BLM and others jump on the wagon after it gets a successful profile with their own copycat slogans like SLM.

that resentment shouldn't be there, the sacrifices should benefit everyone. Just as sikhs sacrificed in the past.

The copycat slogans make them more recognisable. I remember muslims used to use #FreePalestine and we could easily use something like #FreePunjab

Although we could come up with our own like #sikhs4justuce or #sikhs1984

  2. Just heard this on Panjab Radio this morning in the UK.
There was a consultation on changing the name for Havelock Road, Southall - this is also where the famous Singh Sabha Gurdwara is situated (which you will sometimes see in media and some British TV movies and documentaries), there is also another popular Singh Sabha Gurdwara on Park Avenue in Southall - just explaining to avoid confusion.
Here is an article from 2002 to show context with regards to Major-General Sir Henry Havelock and issues with the name of the street. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2003119.stm
So anyway the radio station was congratulating everyone as it seems the name change has been approved! Just found some Singh Sabha Gurdwara facebook posts regarding this now:

A few days ago in Bristol, a slaver trader's statue was toppled by the protestors.

Yesterday, Robert Milligan was taken off plinth in London by the Tower Hamlets Council in East London.
It looks like these protests about #BlackLivesMatter which erupted due to the shooting in USA are also useful for sikhs. This is already helping in pushing the case for Havelock's name to be removed from the street in Southall, whereas before no progress was made.
The uk will now be looking at colonial statues and memorabilia to see what can be removed. This is important as many of the colonial related people affected sikhs in negative ways!
NOTE: I know protests are going on, but as it is COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, please be safe and observe social distancing. There is too much crowding at these protests, and could lead to increases in cases for the virus!

    Waheguru

This is something Nihang Singhs should have done. They could have been in the forefront of leading this and expanding their outreach.

But when I read about the views of some Nihang Singh online articles, they mention that jhatka is only for Singhs or warriors, and should regular people should just be vegeterian.

But I am unsure if this is the view of all Nihang Singhs. As when we look at the times of the first 5 Gurus, jhatka and hunting didn't seem to be limited to just warriors only!

In my village all the choorhe have become christians. There are 4 churches in my village. Whenever there is a program that involves langar at the Gurdwara, the choorhe stand outside at a distance from the gurdwara. When the diwan is completed and sangat come to the langar-khana the choorhe join them to eat. They absolutely do not come to sangat. Saw it with my own eyes.

Well what I am thinking is that there will probably be some kind of speaker system in most pends outside the gurdwara, During the langar, there should be some kind of prachar happening that can be heard in the location where langar is happening, and also those partaking in the langar need to be encouraged to do the sewa as well. The more people are involved the more likely they will want to join...

Veer ji our purtan itihasic granths such as Suraj Parkash, Guru Nanak Parkash, Panth Parkash etc have all the saakhis which can be used to fight these Anti Sikh converting groups.

Yes, so what I was thinking to have the sakhis in a more Gospel like form to make it more accessible.

Or since you mentioned the itihasic Granths, perhaps even if we had smalled books just containing chapters of Suraj Parkash for example. I know christian missionaries in the uk used to give out door-to-door gospels of Luke, and even in Gurmukhi. I don't think they really do this anymore. However I would not recommend this door-to-door approach in the uk.

The problem in villages throughout Panjab, is the gurdwaras are dead. People go to gurdwara sproadically throughout the day, as some kind of good luck charm. There are rarely diwans held, and even then people still find excuses not to attend. Having too many gurdwaras in one village doesn't help either.

People from villages would rather go to Darbar Sahib/Anandpur Sahib once every few months than go daily to the Gurdwara in their village.

In the pends we require some kind of incentive to go Gurdwara.

First we need parchariks and different types of classes to be associated in the pends to the gurdwaras.

Then there should be regular langar there where different kinds of sangat comes there, including the poor of the pend. There should be some kind of parchar or keertan hapening when langars run.

Some pends have more than enough resources to do all these activities, yet the gurdwaras are still ignored.

It's the poorer pends that require support.

some crazy demonic santa clauses in there LOL.

I know we have Guru Granth Sahib, but I think we need some kind of book to counteract the missionaries, or maybe we have any?

Like maybe a concise book of the Guru jis' stories and sikh shaheedis for those  people into biblical stories?!?

This guy is Ravi Ranjan . He is Hindutva leaning sikh . But he is doing one of the most needed service and that is promoting Jhatka. He created an authority that certify Jhatka. Unfortunately Sikh community can't even come up a single authority which certify Jhatka while 100 s of authorities certify halal.

In this video he comes up with theory that how British muslims took over meat industry of UK. A question to British Sikh's is how much truth he is speaking about UK?

Request to veggies please don't ruin this thread by bringing veg vs non veg debate

Thanks for sharkng veer ji. Its not nice as everywhere its Halal this Halal that especially with Subway as i live in East London and close to Green Street where all you see is Halal on every shop there.

I also remember seeing in Southall a few years ago Halal Mcdonalds and that left me shocked especially as it has a large Sikh Community.

Ok, so an incident happened last week in the Brunel University  2019 Sikh Society Whatsapp group.

Some Singhs posted this petition against halal in schools https://www.change.org/p/boris-johnson-stop-halal-meat-in-school-children-shouldnt-eat-slaughter-religious-meat-in-schools?recruiter=false&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_medium=whatsapp&utm_content=washarecopy_19889602_en-GB%3Av3&recruited_by_id=ba2a1040-95cb-11ea-a83e-17d9f83f095a

Both Singhs got kicked out of the group. I started a discussion about this being a bujjar kurahit. Everyone from monay to some group admins started on me. One group admin Singh said this years' sikh society is for oneness and that uni is multicultural, and we shouldn't discuss these things. One admin even went as far as saying 'Meat is Meat' whether halal or not.  Anyway after some discussion I was disappointed, there were a few people that also agreed with me. But I can't believe these uni students were behaving as cucks. Some people were saying we were belittling another religion because of this petition?!

Such is the state of uni sikh societies, it seems they will not support other sikhs who don't want to eat halal.

this trial was stopped years ago. the Southall McDonald's hasn't been halal for a long time.

I have always been curious of what helped them to come to the decision. Were they losing lots of sikh customers for example?

You are right it is really hard to find a gutka pothi sahib without any mistakes printed.

As dass doesn't know how to read or write in punjabi i have to use a roman english script. So all of my banis that i read is printed from online sources which i do paath from.

please make sure you use lockdown to learn gurmukhi.

reading in gurbani roman script is really really hard. it's difficult to know how to pronounce something when written in roman.

How did you find the CBD bro? And just for the record, the psychotropic (or intoxicating) cannabinoid is THC not THQ.

cool and CBD, I so rarely remember to use it I don't think I notice anything to be honest. you are supposed to take it 2-3 times a day before a person can probably notice anything.

I had dark chocalate cereal from dorests brand then straight away migraine triggered off in 3 days in a row and i got worried a lot so i have been avoiding chocolate cereals for a while now.

Its hard avoiding chocolate so i use different types of sweet based stuff as peanut bars or anything that looks chocolate free.

yes choc cereal or any sweet cereal need to cut down due to sugar content. Maybe eat porridge oats more, they are supposed to be really healthy. I rarely eat cereal now.

Also a lot of cereals have wheat, and the kind of hybrid wheat for cereal and bread used these days is unhealthy compared to other grains and wild wheat grains. Look at what roti use to be made of back in Guru Nanak ji times. Used to be made from ghodre da atta.

True veer ji it is good to cut down on sugar as that can create problems in the long run as it will help keep my teeth healthy as well.

Chocolate is another one i am trying to avoid and cut down as you are correct that sugar is kind of linked to the headaches as i have gotten headaches migraines with chocolates as kitkat chunky, smarties easter egg, snickers,m&ms which i love but cutting down lol.

CBD oil is something i am thinking about at the moment but waiting for this lockdown to stop before i go out to the shops before i buy it.

I am actually worried that i might get addicated to using it like a drug, smoking etc habbit and spend a lot of money on it lol. So i am gonna read a bit more about it before buying it.

it is not addictive. I have tried CBD oil. I actually forget to take it and it's already expired gone out of date. I got a 2nd one for a penny at the penny sale. I am trying to get my mum and dad to take it to help them.

It is THQ which is addictive and gives you a high. This CBD is safe. I have the 5% one from Holland & Barratt, I haven't felt any effects.

With regards to chocolate, I have more or less quit Milk Chocolate. I have moved onto Dark Chocolate for years now. You start off with regular plain or dark chocolate. Then slowly move onto 60% and then 70%. Some people move onto the higher levels, I usually have 80% bars around as well. Actually I think dark chocolate can help with migraines as well.

However due to my allergies such as Hayfever, I have to try and cut down dark choc during summer as it is a Histamine.

Maybe after lockdown you should get a test for allergies and intolerances, it could help?

Thanks veer ji. It is addicitive these sugar drinks so i only have them if i eat fried heavy food to help with it or for anything spicy.

Otherwise i do like a fizzy drink depending on the weather lol.

True the sugar ammount is a lot in these drinks and i will need to work on cutting down as it will help in the long run.

I also love kaju barfi that is the best along with rasmaali which is really nice lol.

maybe try to reduce the fizzy drinks.

or at least drink ones that are sugar free.

I would advise replacing them with something like Squash such as Robinsons.

Also maybe reduce the drinks that contain the Caffeine.

I think the headaches could be related to coming down from the rush from caffeine and sugar....

Try replacing the sugar with Gurh or other unrefined sugars.

Since it is lockdown, just don't buy or order anything that contains sugar or caffeine. If it is not near you, you will not be tempted...

I saw the post about CBD, I saw that they sell it online at Boots as well.

I think you have to take it a few times a day. I think the part of the plant or leaf that Nihang Singhs use for Shaheedi Degh may be CBD related as well.

Anyway we know CBD is kind of panth approved LOL

Thou shall not kill, is refering to the Jews that have accepted the law of Yahwah and only applied for his people not the gentiles. Which explains all the killings of gentiles talked about in the bible but they cant do it to their OWN people because gentiles are not apart of the law. Jews are allowed to eat meat, only curtain types. Which when you think about it, also applies to Muslims who view everyone whos a non-believer an emermy of their god under their law. This is why killings are still going on. If it was left to "The Law of Karma" it would have been delt with long time ago.

oh so is that where the implementation in Sharia Law or Islam comes from, where it is ok to kill a non-muslim? Or an inspiration at least?!?

  14. Are you all sleeping enough and taking enough naps?

If I feel head pain coming around, normally going for a rest like a nap or sleeping really helps. Don't go for the caffeine straight away for tiredness, it's important to rest.

I think for these migraine situations it's important to get an additional nap additionally to normal sleep. Some people do biphasic sleep which used to be normal not too long ago.

Also try to keep hydrated, which I am always forgetting about now that I am at home during lockdown.
