  1. but California is the most multicultural society in the US. They are also a very open minded people living there. New York is also multicultural, but it's too crowded and since that is the place where 9/11 attacks happened, people there have become a little narrow minded.

Also it might be a good idea to move to a place where there are alot of Indian people living. America is not the same place it was before 9/11. Before 9/11 you could have lived anywhere in the US without fear. But 9/11 really screwd things up for Sikhs in the west.

  2. Pir Sahib may by the spiritual descendent of Mian Mir, but it doesn't mean they hold the exact same beleifs. I doubt that Mian Mir jee who was so close to Guru Jee would have beleived that Guru jee was a follower of Prophet Mohammad as Pir Sahib jee beleives. Just because they are from the same sompradhaya as Mian Mir Jee does not mean they are of the same spiritual or intellectual level as Mian Mir Jee.

When Hindus claim that Guru Nanak Dev Jee and other Gurus were HIndus, we Sikhs jump up and down in anger and use the most filthy language against them, and will even beat them up if they are in front of us. Yet why do we remain quiet when Muslims claim Guru Nanak Dev Jee was a Muslim? far from getting angry, most of us actually get impressed that they "honoured" Guru Nanak Dev Jee by considering him a Muslim. Why this double standard for Muslims and Hindus?

When someone says that Guru Nanak Dev Jee was a Muslim, it means that Guru Nanak Dev Jee considered Prophet Mohammad as his Rasool and that Guru Nanak Dev Jee was below Prophet Mohammad. Personally, as a Sikhs I just cannot digest this, and I will not lie, but my blood pressure does go up if someone claims Guru Nanak dev Jee is a follower of Prophet Mohammad.

I consider Guru Nanak Dev Jee more dear than my father, and just as I would feel angry if someone spreads lies about my father, similarly I would also feel angry if someone spreads lies about Satguru Nanak Dev Jee.

How would Muslims react if some Christian leader (lets say) like the Pope told them that Prophet Mohammad was a Christian and that he did not consider starting the Islamic faith? do you think Muslims would feel honoured by this statement? I -- D O N 'T -- T H I N K -- S O!!!!

  3. Ever since Bahadur became a Sikh, he always had a inclination an for Shia ism. He tried to misguide many Sikhs into flirting with Shia beleifs. I hear many of his brain dead Sikh chelle would even go to the Maharum in the UK and start beating themselves completely looking like FOOLS for the world to see!

Bahdur has always had this strange fetish with anything Persian. He even moved to Iran and has now started to pretend he IS persian.

  4. I agree with Tony Jee.

While all Sikhs respect Mian Mir Jee, but as Sikhs we need to beleive with our hearts some undeniable truths about Sikhi, no matter how politically incorrect they may appear to non Sikhs out there.

The first Sikh source to mention that Mian Mir Jee laid the foundation stone of Darbar Sahib was in Suraj Prakash. While I love reading Suraj Prakash, but lets not beleive in it blindly. All earlier Sikh sources mention that it was Guru Arjun Dev Jee who laid the foundation stone of Darbar Sahib. No doubt Mian Mir Jee is worthy of respect, and I'm sure in interfaith dialogues it sounds pretty darn good and impressive that Mian Mir Jee laid the foundation stone of Darbar Sahib, but I just don't beleive it especially since all Sikh sources written before Suraj Parkash don't mention this.

As for Guru Nanak Dev Jee going on a Hajj is also a very dangerous new thought going around. Despite the fact that we Sikhs know how Guru Nanak Dev Jee went there and through his Shakti moved the Kaaba where ever the direction of his feet were at, yet we Sikhs out of political correctly deny this story or try to hide it because because it might hurt the feelings of the Muslims.

When a Muslims wants to say anything about his Rasool he will say it fearlessly not caring how politically incorect he or she may sound. Even Christians dont' give a damn about political correctness and are fearless in their firm faith in the stories of Jesus Christ. Then why are we Sikhs so politically correct?? Why do we have to try to make Muslims happy by being so politically correct?

Strangest thing is, we do not show political correctness to Hindus. We fearlessly show how our Gurus exposed the Pandits, yet we show this political correctness to the Muslims and ignore the stories of how our Gurus fearlessly delt with the beleifs of the Muslims that were not in line with Gurmat.

  5. Go for it Singh. It costs a lot but I have this icha as well - as soon as I can afford it there'll be a Sikh channel.

If you're interested, find out how much it costs and what equipment we need.

Amrit Bani (ch 0176 on Sky) has a similar problem, but they've kept going with Guru Ji's kirpa and are, IMHO, the best of the desi radio stations.

BTW, i've heard that Raagis are tested before they can do Kirtan in Harmandir Sahib, they definitely haven't just done a '6 week correspondence course'. It's the highest honour to do Kirtan at Darbar Sahib, and the people who get to do it are dhan-dhan.

My one problem with Aastha is the narkdhari baba they show. However, it not the channel's fault.

I've even seen Gurmeet Ram Rahim getting TV time to do his Dharmic Prachar right after last year's violence. I think it was Aasthaa.

  6. heard in a news story some time ago that Nihang Major Singh wears a massive dumaalla in an attempt to inspire youth to begin wearing turbans.

Personally, I feel more inspired when I see a Nihang Singh dressed in blue adorned with many Shastars all over his body. It is an awe inspiring scene. In fact, it makes me want to be a Nihang.

Huge Dumalle like what Nihang Major Singh Jee wears does not inspire me, although I do respect him for his intentions, but still I just don’t see the point in wearing such a huge dumala like that, as opposed to the normal standardised size Dumalas that most Nihangs wear.

Nihangs are supposed to be Tiyar bar Tiyar and ready for Jang-Yudh at all times. So doesn't wearing an impractically HUGE dumala like Nihang Major Singh Jee defeat the concept of a Nihang Singh being Tiyar Bar Tiyar at all times?

  7. Innocent?

    Let's procede logically.

    1. Dasam Granth is the second holy scripture of the Sikhs.

    2. In it it is stated that Mahadin deviated from the right path. 99,9% of Sikh scholars say Mahadin is the Holy Prophet (pbuh).

    3. This is a direct insult against Islam and Ahl ul Bayt (as) and is considered a crime in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

    4. Anyone subscribing to Dasam Granth i.e. Sikhs are therefore guilty under Iranian law, in the same way as a person would be guilty of insulting the queen in the UK.

    5. Adding to it the fact that they have never revealed this to the authorities they are as a community guilty of conspiracy.

If a religious community living in the UK had a holy book that insulted the queen they'd be considered guilty.

I find your twisted logic funny: they're the ones commiting the crime but I am the Nazi?

When you don't like a country or its culture you simply leave it, you don't lie about your beliefs in order to stay.

Bahadur, so because you are being insulted by one individual here on a forum, you have to take it out on innocent Sikh families in Iran? You have just reached an all time low today.

You are basically blackmailing us for the few hundred innocent Sikh families living in Iran. So what ever happened to all this talk “reverts” like you shout around about the religion of peace? All this talk about Islam being the religion of peace and tolerance seems like a sham to me when you are threatening the Sikh minority in Iran just because a member here hurt your sensitive feelings. What a small minded person you are.

  8. Silence, perhaps you should investigate Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa's reading list as well as many other vidvaans like Sant Attar Singh Ji, Baba Nand Singh Ji, Baba Ishar Singh Ji etc, before outlawing other sources of important knowledge that aid understanding and explanation of Gurmat.

Yeah, I think that reading of other ancient Granths is important for better understanding of Gurmat. In my opinion Bhagawat Gita is a such a peice which should be read and studied.
