  1. Vadhiyana to all for the Pelha Prakash of Adi Granth Sahib in the Harimandar Sahib.

After Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji installed the Adi Granth in Harimandar Sahib the Guru gave updesh [teaching] to the Sangat [congregation] about the Granth.

Kavi Santhok Singh Ji writes in his Gurpratap Suraj Prakash Granth that Guru Arjan Dev Ji said:

    -----------------

The Granth is a vehicle [which gives liberation] whosoever implants [the teachings] in their mind they are easily taken across [the terrible ocean].

The body of the Guru is sometimes not available for Darshan, as time and space permit.

However, recognize the Granth as the heart of the Guru, it is highest because it will be viewable in all times and places.

For this reason recognize the Granth Sahib as the Greater Master, and respect it as such.

Worship the Granth with ground sandalwood and saffron, by lighting incense, and putting flowers [on the Granth].

    - Gurpratap Suraj Prakash Granth, Raas 3, Adaaie [Chapter] 50

  2. Sri Manglacharan Puran Ji is the real name of Sri Sarbloh Granth Sahib. In the scripture, the author Guru Gobind Singh Ji writes Himself the name of the Granth at the end and calls it Sri Manglacharan Puran. At the end of the story of Sarbloh Avatar, Guru Gobind Singh Ji writes:

    ਪੰਚ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਸਲੋਕ ਯਾ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾ ॥ ਇਕ ਤਿਸ ਕੋ ਮੰਗਲਾਚਰਣ ਪੰਥਾ ॥

This Granth [is comprised of] 5,000 Saloks, the story of 'Manglacharan' has been described within it.

There are 700 Saloks in praise of the Devi, and 1200 Saloks describing the [various Vishnu] Avatars.

[sarbloh Granth Vol 2, page 836, pub. by Budha Dal]

The start of the Granth begins with the praise of the Devi, Maha Maya [The Great Illusion]. Then the story of Manglacharan begins which refers to the story of Sarbloh Avatar, an avatar of Mahakal who must destroy the Demon Beerajnaad to uphold Dharam. After the story of Sarbloh Avatar is described there begins another section which is a condensed version of the Chaubis Avatar in Dasam Guru Granth Sahib. This section contains the stories of the following Vishnu Avatars:

    - Mach (fish) Avatar

    - Kach (tortoise) Avatar

    - Barhā (Wild-Boar) Avatar

    - Nar Singh (Half Man half lion) avatar

    - Purshraam Avatar

    - Rām Avatar, called 'Bīj Ramaein'

    - Krishna avatar, called, Dasam Sakand (tenth chapter of Bhagvad Purana)

  3. Rathar than pine over the loss of 329 people who made the decision to use the national carrier of India after the GOi had just murdered thousands of Sikhs and destroyed the Akal Takht, then arranged for the pogrom of more thousands of Sikh in Delhi then sorry but you made the decision and whether it was Sikh terrorists or the GOI that brought down your plane, live with the consequences of your decision.

    That's some really scary logic

Above is the link to a new article which is a question answer session between three of the Punj Pyare and Guru Gobind Singh explaining the nature of Shaheeds from Gurpratap Suraj Prakash Granth.

Also there is a small katha audio file explaining how Shaheeds get moksh [liberated] after getting Shaheedi, along with a story from Sri Sarbloh Granth Sahib.

  5. This principle isn't so redundent these days. Where it says candles, read jot made of ghee. I have been told that the reason you dont blow out divas, jots and agarbati dhoops (incense) etc is that by doing so you doing are not respecting agni-dev. A sort of beadbi to Agni.

However I cant see how this works when you blow into a choola with a phookna when cooking.

I believe the idea is about the concept of jhoot, blowing out the diva is putting your jhoot from your mouth on it, its not a matter of bloowing any air on it like with a phookna etc.

  6. This whole thing kind of blew up on Sikhsangat.com with the emergence of various threads talking about Devi etc. Yet no one is willing to listen to the katha by Giani Inderjit Singh Ji about the whole CONCEPT of devi in Sikhi. Seems like they just want to do badnami of the blog and me for posting that photograph.

Thanks Sikhawareness for possessing an open mind and having a knee-jerk reaction due to the picture.

Oops , that was a hypo, I meant that Sikhawareness did not give a knee-jerk reaction like Sikhsangat did

And Kalyug, I saw your comment, for some reason it went in the moderation section, where I have to aprove it before it shows up, not sure why that happened. Will look it up properly and check that out, I am not ignoring you.

Also Shaheediyan, you msged me a long time ago about a URL where you can download Baba Ji's katha that I had put online, will send that to u for sure. My apologizes for the late responses, just got a lot on my plate at the moment lol

  8. Everyone, even believers in Dasam Granth, have become so allergic to the term Devi, or the real concept of Devi it is shocking.

I am happy with Sikhawareness, there are so many intelligent people who do not have a knee-jerk reaction to the term Devi.

Check Sikh Sangats thread here - http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/53001-beautiful-old-manscript-of-dasam-granth/

I'm getting the usual, "Hindu Matt" comments

  9. Navratri occurs twice a year, Suraj Prakash mentions the Sharad Navratri look here for a translation of that passage -> http://sikh-reality.blogspot.com/2009/10/worshiping-weapons-passage-from-suraj.html

Not sure if Budha Dal and Hazur Sahib celebrates both Navratris, but will find out and will clarify

According to a website i found, these were the dates this year for Navratri:

Chaitra Navratri or Vasant Navratri: March 16, 2010 to March 24, 2010

    Sharad Navratri: October 8, 2010 to October 17, 2010.

Not sure about the marayda, will phone Baba Ji and ask him about what use to happen, the Suraj Prakash passage that I have translated doesnt mention what day they were doing the pooja on. I am pretty sure at Hazur Sahib, during those 10 days they do tons of chandi paat, it is just not on the final day.

A sevadhar of www.nihangsingh.org told me they would upload Dusshera Mahatam Granth online in their section eventually, so look forward for that. I might be able to get it in July and if I do I will make it available. From what I have heard tho, it is just a collection of Shabads from Adi and Dasam Guru Granth Sahib.

  10. I have seen a Nihang singh giving a discourse on Youtube, I think he is from Sri Huzoor Sahib, he rightly said that Sri Ramchanderji and other avatars were Sikhs in tradition, they had maintained kesh.

The puratan idols of RAJA Ramchander ji found have Him potrayed with kesh maryada maintained.

I believe you are referring to Baba Trilok Singh in this video
