  1. gurfateh! my fav raag kirtani is actually bhai avtar singh ragi..amazing voice and beautiful dilruba to accompany all his kirtan tracks..top!!! go to www.proudtobesikh.com excellent website; just go to the classical kirtan section..its all about raaag kirtaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!
  2. urmmm..im not a computer whizz kid..best thing is to beg my class mates
  3. Dressing like a khalsa; or replacing virtue with looks..this is ritual, and false practise of true faith..this goes without saying hunah. I think the real dicussion, is should women wear the keski/dastaar..i think the answer is- its personal choice. And it looks beautiful on all of my sisters (and sisters without keski look as beautiful too)
  4. Brilliant post!! Sums it all up..from the words of wahegurus messengers. My two cents: khalistan IS a state of mind..and not worth the bloodshed. I dont think it is feasible; where are the boundaries? who will the government? will pakistan/india and other nations accept the boundaries? will the same people who quarrel over tables and chairs be running this government? a khalistan would mean politics..death..greed..and the usual suspects that come along with power..NOT good for the abolishment of the five evils. However iam all for freedom of worship..this is what our gurus beleived in..this is what our gurus died for..this is what our gurus sacrificed their lvies for..sikhi is about sacracfice..about love..about putting others first..many shaheeds died for their brothers (because they were being ill treated/oppressed)..lets not forget these shaheeds faught the brahminical government NOT hindus i.e they died for the oppressed untouchables and the ethnic minorities, who are also casualities to indias ethnic cleansing regime. I beleive in freedom of worship..we dont need khalistan..this can be acheived in many other ways; but it WILL lead to bloodshed. Killing or dying is not evil; our gurus killed in the thousands..they were not evil. They were uprooting tyranny; and sadly. our motherland in 84 became our oppressor hence the khalsa did their best to uproot it. If this happens again; we should be ready to fight..and die. Without fear, and without hate. I dont want khalistan..i only want freedom; and in the wise words of jernail singh bindrawale; "i dont want khalistan..but if they (india) give it to us (sikhs) then we will accept"
  5. I think this does refer to women in the context of being householders/wives to their husbands i.e their human/male partners. Guru is saying aside from cooking, cleaning, the tradition of sati, women having to worship their husbands as lords (as hinduism implies, and islam implements in the koran); that a true wife/woman has firm beleif in god, etc. There is quite a few shabads on women and men in the context of relationships; and not all of them (unless u want them to i.e interpretation) refer to akal purkh. This is the beauty of bani; the gurus used metaphors and analogoies (beautiful poetical skills) to put across points..another example is when guru ji defines a true muslim and a true hindu.
  6. lol@lalleshvari ur funny brother..propa confuse people!
  7. Controversial issue..so quick answers..yes or no? And a small reason to why (not too long plz) I dont know (im not brahmgyan) BUT from reading his speeches and actions, he was a khalsa, hence a sant sipahi. A perfect man and defnitely a role model. The only point i would make, is why bindrawale took refuge in darbar sahib, knowing there was a risk of bloodshed.
  8. singh where can i get copies from??
  9. lalleshvari paji, where can i get a copy of sarbloh granth??
  10. I have considered that beleive me..but gurus jis motives arent something we can understand..is there evidience to suggest he did?? Our guru ji killed people in war..does that make him evil? There are some things which have to be done, which us mere mortals will never understand..so whats ur view pheena?
  11. never knew that lalleshvari, extrememly interesting indeed! thanks for that!
  12. why are u so insecure about what our sisters do? why does it bother u so much? is it bs because people arent agreeing with ur viewpoint? u shouldnt be so determined to always proove people wrong paji..bs or not, i think they look beautiful..big deal..u can find urself a woman..im happy being with a third gender lady..and i guess i'll have to tell my parents that she is a lady when they meet her
  13. also, the chunni looks like a hijab to most people/mistake them for muslims..we have enough of that with our brothers..the last thing we need is our women being mistaken for muslims (and be hassled)..khalsa should stand out..in actions, body and soul..i guess thats why we have bana..so stand out..and if keski is part of that (kesh) for some singhnia, so be it..im happy to support them in their decision.
  14. same boat as u bruv..i suggest bani pro..amazing stuff really helps type it in a search engine somewhere
  15. Simple answer to a simple question.. 'The path of sikhi is thinner than a strand of hair, and sharper than the double edged sword' (bhai gurdas ji)..basically its a f!'""!!! hard path to follow, almost impossible. So do we want to make things harder for urselves, by marrying someone who isnt like-minded/follows the same beleifs as u? I guess as long as ur "happy" then its all good..but the fact u ask this question from spiritual people makes me think ur conscience is telling u otherwise..god bless sister
  16. yeh he is definitely the bruce lee of bodybuilding; a legend and someone who commercialised and made this sport so wide spread! i bow before theeeeeeeeee
  17. Issue really puzzles me..did our guru really have more than one wife?? Why (was there an intention/purpose for it?) Did he have children by all three (i think three is the number)?? Was it a norm for sikh men to have more than one wife in those days?? And did the gurus prior to guru gobind singh ji maharaj have more than one wife (ive hurd guru hargobind did, also) And lalleshvari paji (cos i know u have views on this) could u please provide me with evidence so as to clear up this issue for me, and others, once and for all! Gurfateh guru pyario!
  18. nothing wrong with a woman wearing a dastar, if it elevates her spirituality or makes her happy. who are we to label them she males or bi gender humans, etc. i understand ur viewpoint, and its sad akj have made the keski a compulsion lalleshvari paji, but i dnt think we should degrade the garm of the keski either; some singhnia feel like princesses and LOOK like princesses with the keski..i for one, think they look beautiful.
  19. yeh u need some sort of studio software..im just saving up for all my hardware at the mo! gonna start with 2nd hand stuff..but one day me have pro tools up in the place
  20. Jamuka no need to create hostility within the forum; i understand ur viewpoint, but u dont put out fire with wood. Lets calm things down just a little..we are all brothers and sisters here..p.s the use of bul chak maaf is something MOST humble sikhs would say; as well as showing humility, it pardons any mistakes made (after all we all interpret bani in different ways; so using this expression means the viewpoint is open to discussion)..infact go to ANY sikh forum and u'll find this expression.

  22. Good posts veero (its shed some light into things!) I didnt mean to sound immature; i dont want singhs to have a reputation of being showman, neither do i want them to have the reputation of wannabe gangsters, etc. I was just puzzled to see why there is never any news coverage where a singh has done something; (surely the probability is there/that there should have been one case at least.) Gurfateh
  23. thanks penji and paji! much love gurfateh
