I take this to mean that we shouldn't start and then stop for periods of time. If we take a long break from simran than the churn (that shaanti, that focused surti, that anand from Naam) could be lost. This is why so many don't make it anywhere. When we are motivated we push ourselves, when motivation wanes we start indulging  in the world and fail this test repeatedly.  This is what happens to me. Then we have to make efforts to rebuild that shaanti, that focus, that anand...

I been doing this mistakes since years and years ..well now i feel i should start calling it a crime rather than a mistake .

Paaji, Brahmans were cursed by Mata Lakshmi jee. She said that she will never visit them, which meant that they will face shortage of money (Mata Lakshmi jee is the Goddess of wealth). That was one of the main reasons that Rishi Bhrigu jee developed this field of study(Astrology), through which Brahmans could earn a living.

    Bhul chuk maaf

whosoever told you this is talking haywire...Bhrighu ji is one of the early Saptarishis..what connection would be between him and the brahman 'jaati' ?

Brahmans as a jaati are later formation.

    How to have that ?

There is only one way to find out.

Jappde raho ji , along with Brahm Kavach understanding the meaning you could do Bhagouti Ashtotar which also praises Bhagouthi ji ...if you understand the verses then there is prem and bhagti just as when you do jaap of Mool Mantar sahib your focus on Akaal increases and turns into pyaar for the Ustat of Akaal

Bro, Rikhi Bhrigu jee Maharaaj introduced this field of study, so that Brahmans could make a living out of it. There is nothing wrong, if a Astrologer charges for his services; even doctors, dentists, etc get paid for their services. As long as the Astrologer is not duping people. it should be fine.

    Bhul chuk maaf

who told you so ? He has done his own study and created a database of planetary combination charts known as Kundalis ..this is a like a research paper and the intent was not commercial. Is there any reference that Bhrigu Rishi went to the brahmans to tell them hey guys take this database and charge people to predict their future ?

  6. I used to go and hear them out and when they would give the 'upaay' or 'cure' for a certain planet phase which would be as weird as dropping a bottle of whisky in a river which i wouldn't dare to do since i consider the river sacred or dropping marble stones in the river too...i would just go home and do bani since i felt it was futile to go on a certain day at a certain time to a certain place and do something which didnt sound logical to me. Doing bani is much easier and you would feel relaxed, that anxiety to get into the future just resides.

So today I came across a few advertisements for astrologers in my city. One of which seems to be known worldwide because he's the grandson of someone who had a very high spiritual state. So my question is if anyone has ever had any type of experiences with people like these? My uncle was telling me that he's seen some to be accurate to the dot.

as a research point of view you can try provided it doesnt hurt your pocket since some of them charge exorbitant .

There are many who tell you about the past but futuristic prediction you would need to tally...not accurate at times or as i get after people that tell me in what phase what shall happen. ..havent come across anyone who can predict with time frames .

Waheguru ji khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh

    dear sangat ji,

I am in need of your opinion and would appreciate your advise on the matter

i am a beginner abhiyasee who recently got into sikhi following depression, i get peace from gurbani and want to make it a bigger part of my life

my plan for my life was to continue naam abhiyas and keep a working life, i am not married and i live with my family

i wanted to keep it that way as it would give me plenty of time for sikhi

but my family is pressurising me to marry in the near future and i am not genuinely interested, i have told them that but they are not willing to listen. If i do marry it would be out of obligation and i am stressed about how i would practice sikhi, take care of my husband, have kids and keep a job at the same time

sangat ji, sikhi is dear to me, I don't want to lose it, can gursikh veer or bibiya address my fears

is it going against guru sahib if I don't marry?

Sikhi is part of many of the Grihasts we have here , i am not a keshdhari and come from a hindu background, and many others are are from Gursikh families here and have been married  . Grihasti is somewhere a necessary obligation in life .

When you say losing Sikhi what do you mean ? what do yo do that stops you from performing regular tasks ?

Yes there's that sampardya started by Ustad Nar Singh ji Narayan. :P

I honestly don't know of any sampradya except for that one. I don't follow any of them.

PS you ignored the code I cracked on the existence of silent letters. In the above post, I (he) explained why these silent letters exist and the purpose they serve in pronunciation. This is true not only in Gurbani and but also in English as well, but that's a different topic.

Biradars , it doesnt matter if there is a samprada or not because it is colloquial influence , in Maharashtra the 'U'  becomes 'V' i am talking about the Nanded belt specially where Ustad is said by local Maharashtrians as vastaad ..

ਉਸਤਤਿ is actually pronounced as Stuti?

Wow I didn't know that. That actually makes sense. That's why ਉਸਤਤਿ has a Sihari. (The Sihari matters! - is what I've been saying for a long time.)

There are so many words we are pronouncing incorrectly while reading Gurbani. And tragically, the santhya teachers don't know correct pronunciations either.

Well we cant say if it is wrong because there is always a colloquial way to say things , the aussie english and the england english is way differently spoken even though the spellings are the same .

The name Prabhakaran is written by Tamils as Pirahvakaran because thats how they say it ..The Singh and Sinh both used in Gurbani they mean the same.

  11. This horrible and one the nightmares i have come across, if you file for divorce based on her disease and have a way out it would be good . Its not that marriage is wrong , it is the wrong kind of partner you went for and without interacting like a mamma's boy you agreed to marriage . Its time to make corretions , get over it and then settle yourself.

    @jaikaara Good advice.

I know a few people who have done that. I also learned from one that we shouldn't drink cold water! it should always be at about our own body temps(37.5C) or higher. I just can't get used to it as I have a naughty habit of throwing ice in all my drinks.

At home i drink cold water and at office i drink hot water most times , a few glasses of cold water if i feel the need otheriwse its like 6-7 glasses of piping hot water which i keep sipping . I am so used to it now that even in summer when outside the tempreture is like 43-44 degrees celcius i am drinking hot water although inside the office the temperature is controlled with air conditioning .

For a few weeks now I have been having dull ache just below my bottom rib on the right hand side. Ultrasound confirmed the presence of a 8mm gallstone, which radiologist says is small.  :-(  It's actually distracting me when I do abhyaas as it aches and subtly pokes if I do any jaap with intensity. Doctor doesn't think I need to consider surgery just yet.

Anyone tried a Gallstone flush using extra virgin olive oil and lemon? Does it work? Reading mixed messages on the net. Trying to drink apple juice and apple cider vinegar but not really helping.

    http://www.worldwidehealthcenter.net/article/flush-gall-stones-naturally

I have flushed mine twice with hot water ..i drink hot water for all most all day - 6-7 glasses , i do take cold water in between when i feel the need to. You add lemon to it too .
