  2. Sat Sri Akal

The following extracts are translerations from Guru Granth Darpan by Prof Sahib Singh Ji... Kindly ignore my shortcomnings in English writing skills... as I think it is informative... :)

At panna 5726 of Guru Granth Darpan, Prof Sahib Singh Ji says:

    Quote

"While translerating the Bani by Bhagats, it seemed to me that Guru Nanak Dev Ji himself collected this Bani... And while keeping this in mind, as I further studied the references provided by the Bhagat Bani itself, this thought was further strenthened in my mind.

But what Guru Nanak Dev Ji had to do with it ? In history, there is mentioned that the Bani of Guru ji was scattered at various places where ever he visited and which was gotten collected by Guru Arjan Dev Ji by asking sikhs, living inside the country and also living abroad by writing them letters to send the same. A Guru-person who did not took care of his own writings, how would he had bothered to have taken care of Bani of Bhagats ? But, the "self references" provided by Bani of Bhagats firmly/openly confirmed that the this work of collecting of Bani of Bhagats was done by none other than Guru Nanak Dev Ji himself...

So, I started to explore the Banis of five Gurus from Guru Nanak Ji to Guru Arjan Sahib ji. After just a little hassle, it was apprent that Guru Nanak Ji had himself collected his Bani. He gave this treasure to Guru Angad Ji and every subsequent Guru added to this treasure till all this treasrue was finally handed over to Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

    Quote

"There are 130 shaloks in total. Out these, 18 Shaloks have been composed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji (4), Guru Amardas Ji (5), Guru Ram Das Ji (1) and Guru Arjan Dev Ji ( 8 ), these were composed to present the thoughts of Sheik Farid Ji in a simple precise direction, so that ignorant people do not get confused. There, there is no need to mix the shaloks of Farid Ji with the shaloks of Guru Ji."

Total shaloks of Baba Farid Ji = 112

    Guru Nanak Dev Ji = 4 (No. 32, 113, 120, 124)

    Guru Amardas Ji = 5 (No.13, 52, 104, 122, 123)

    Guru Ramdas Ji = 1 (No.121)

    Guru Arjan Sahib Ji - 8 (No. 75, 82, 83, 105, 108, 109, 110, 111)

    Total Shaloks = 130

    Quote :

"The come many complexities in life, we suffer numerous jolts/jerks, we need guidance at each step we take and through that guidnace we can find the right way only if we have full faith in our leader.

In Gurdwaras, it is usual norm to recite the following Dohra after Gurbani Simran...

Guru Granth kou Maniyou, Pargat Guran kee deh ||

Jo Prabh kou milbhou chahae, khoj shabad mhe leh ||

Absolutely right. Physically, we can not be here for ever. It is only the Bani which can be perserved forever and does provide the righteous way to Truth, forever. The person who want to walk on the path defined by Guru Nanak/Guru Gobind Singh Ji, then has the Bani of Gurus, Jo Jivan-Path dae hanariyaan which chanan dae sakdi hae, Jo rah dae thaediyaan (obstacles) ton bacha sakdi hae. This is the reason that Kalgidhar Patshah Ji, while stopping the series of physical gurudom and bestowed the leadership of Khalsa with SGGS, for guidance for ever..........

  3. Ideal singh, can i get the refrences when you said guroo sahib went in iraq phsyically and got the baba farid text writing???

I was always under impression that guroo maharaj was god himself which knew everything..... guroo avatar are nirankar themselves.. they dont need to go phsyically and collect writings of bhagats... they have gyans of this bhramand(universe) under their feet...

    :D

I think there is a Gurdwara in bagdad so I said about Iraq... I did not say that Guru ji got the writings from Iraq... I said he visited these places himself...

Well, I wont contradict you about how you percieve it... until its practical... :)

  4. Don't take this the wrong way, but that would mean that Guru Ji took Baba Sheik Farid work with permission, I am learning about this thats way I ask these question.

    Thanks

    Dear chamkila

Nobody has a monopoly over the Truth... Truth is to be shared with everyone...

And if we use our common sense... had Guru ji ever tried to "took" Baba Farid ji and other's work, he would have incorporated them under his own name... but this was never his intension... his sole intension was to spread Truth... as you can gather from a glance at SGGS, where it is clearly mentioned that who is the writer of each and every shabad or shaloks, so treating it like "taking" others work is a naive observation...

The people who propogate such theories are malicious in their intensions...

    Chardi Kala

  5. I have a question about Baba Sheik Farid if I am right was he born before Guru Nanak, if so how did Baba Sheik Farid get he work in the SGGS, and how did he know about sikhism.

    Thanks

I think Guru Nanak Ji visited many a places during his four udasies (journeys) which included from as far as Sri Lanka to Iraq and whereever he visited he collected the writings of various renowned people at these places, who were considered to be one with God and so Guru Nanak Ji himself collected the writings of Baba Farid Ji and others and incorporated them in SGGS...

  6. my sis went to india last year and she got her hand checked out from a old pandit. wen ma sis asked dat pandit abt me, he said dat ur sister is gona have a major crash in which her leg would be injuered. he also said dat its gona be a serious crash. funny thing is, dat wen i went to india da year b4, my mama ji who knows how to read palms looked at my hand and said dat drive carefully! and my mami also looked at my hand and she said somthing which has come out to be true. so guys im kinda confused. beta do alot of path  and den dis otha girl who looked at my hand, and den she was like  im sorry to say dis, but ur hand says ur gona have two husbands and im like (admin-cut) :? :!: and funny thing my mammi told me somthin like dat too. man wat am i to do? :? so i did some research on da net, and found out dat if a person has an oval on their heart line, it means separation or divorce (mainly divorce), and wen i looked at da heart line in my hand, it has an oval in it!! :!: scary - actually i dnt even care, jst sharin my thoughts wid u ppl, u guys got ne advice for me? :? 8)

  7. Irks me? . His writings did not irk me. He is not the first writer whose writings created controversy. He is neither the first nor last controversial writer. There is a long chain of such writers. Didn't you read the writings published by 'Panch Khalsa Diwan, Bhasaur'? Didn't you read the book on Sri Dasam Granth by Gyani Bhag Singh Ambala?

Mr. Gurbaksh Singh 'Kala Afghana' can never irk me, Sir. There is nothing new in his writings, my brother. Use of 'Gurbani Di Kasauti' on Bhagat Bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib by 'Panch Khalsa Diwan' could not irritate me, then how can it irk me, if someone tried to use 'Gurbani Di Kasauti' on Sri Dasam Granth? I always pray for 'Sarbat Da Bhala' and Mr. Gubaksh Singh 'Kala Afghana' is a part of 'Sarbat'.

 It is not the matter that one should use 'GURBANI Di Kasauti' or not. Matter is which is GURBANI.

    Sarbat Da Bhala,

    Amrit Pal Singh 'Amrit'

    Dear Amrit

You can laugh out loud... but remember that author of Gurbilas Series is unknown likewise is the case of bansavalinama etc... so if those writing do not irk you at all then why Kala Afgana's writing are wrong when he ably tackles these books on the "Kasauti of Gurbani"... seems quite fair to me...

    Chardi Kala

  8. I think it is the way, and if the people don't show any repect to the SGGS I think they should become hindu and have no right to read the SGGS.

I am really shock that some one could say what you just said, I really don't know what to say to you. So is it ok if the person split or cough on the SGGS would some thing like this happen in Guru Ji time.

    Dear chamkila

 ...there is such a thin line between a way of living and karam kaands... how does it matter that he convers his mouth or not... ? Since when sikhs have become so narrow minded...? Respect should be by heart not by showing off... our intensions should be clear and thats it... we should remember that God is omnipresent... He is even present in your spit... everywhere... so if your intensions are not malicious then there is nothing to make a fuss over it...

  9. Dear amrit

Veer ji. I think 'Gurbilas Patshahi 6' has not been banned. I think the edition edited by Jathedar Joginder Singh has been banned. I could be wrong, as I do not know the exact situation.

I think the edition by Vedanti is in circulation...

Was he a danger to India or Indian Government? Why could he have been falsely framed ? Some Buddhist writers are using even filthy language against Ramayan and other Hindu books. Why are they not framed?

Buddhist are a harmles creatures with nothing to defend themselves... moreover no body is listening you them in India...

Sir, have you read 'Gur Bilas Patshahi 6'? If it is preaching Brahmanism practises, then how is it different from Gur Pratap Sooraj Granth, Gur Bilas Patshahi 10 (Sukh Singh), Mahma Prakash, Bansawalinama etc?

Thats what I am asking you at first place... What is there in his writing that irks you... I am presently reading a soft copy of banned book "Gurbilas Patshashi 6-Gurbani Dee Kasauti Tae" by G.S. KalaAfgana... :D, so i will give here updates on what he has written on GP-6.

In the prefac itself, he has said that bansavalinama etc have been forced on Sikhs under a conspiracy to dilute Sikh Guru teachings so lets see what he has to say on GP6 critically...

I am the only person in your city (Mohali), who organised 'Gatka Classes', especially against the RSS after the demolition of Babri Mosque. :nihung: (now it is said that I am an agent of RSS). You must have read the review by Prof. Phool Chand Manav, on my book 'Katal Hee Hundey Aaye Sooraj', in daily Punjabi Tribune. It was considered a BRAVE step in those days (1993) by Prof. Manav. Military tried to stop our classes. Spy from Punjab Police used to come to my classes. Chandigarh Police made a five hour long video movie about me and my students, during a 'Nagar Keertan'. BUT I was not framed by the Police. Why? Was I preaching Brahmanism among the Sikh children?

No offense... I could not gather the purpose of holding Gatka Classes... and I have not read your book either... what this book is all about... ? Mohali was the most peaceful area during the 1980s and 90s... I dont know why ? but it was peaceful... well I do not know what you were preaching... please tell us what you were preaching so that we can gather from that what you were preaching... :)

Most of the people do not understand the meaning of Brahmanism. Will you please explain it, sir?

Well, I gather that you know the meaning perfectly... please update our knowledge...

  10. Firstly You don't know a thing about me, the answer i gave was personal. I accept that which is given by Love ie: Necklace, a slap, a yelling.

Well obviously you didn't understand what i was trying to present to you thru simplicity, yet you are taking it as a life and death situation.

Im sorry my answer doesn't meet your expectations.

What Rehatnama are you talking about?? Rather Which ONE? Is it from the same Rehat which the writer of that rehat wanted to add Jathka Meat is allowed to it?

Did Our 10th Guru wear Gold?? if so well then Image of God himself is not following your Rehat? Did he have greed so he wore it?? No because he was a KING. KING of the SIKHS and if a Measly Sikh of the GURU were to wear a Necklace give by his mother out of Love, he becomes a Sinner?? Wearing a Necklace out of Greed or Desire for Gold is a SIN, for it adds to the attachment to maya.

Me Personally could care less for gold, if perhaps you did not read what i wrote. You are correct then it becomes Unneccesary to wear it, but u did not understand that the love it was given with. If me wearing the Necklace makes my mother feel as if i have accepted her Gift. If i had simply thrown it back in her face by saying, " No The Rehat Says no Sikh is allowed to wear Jewlery" YOU probably can, but im sorry i cannot for the love was worth much greater than the Gold Necklace and the Necklace became a Symbol. I don't have attachment to the Necklace, i have attachment to the Love by which the Necklace was given with. If it was a Mala which she gave, i would've wore it. For the Intention it was given with was greater than the object itself.

Jewlery is not only made of Gold. The Nihungs wear tons of Metal around them, in forms of weapons, why isn't that Jewlery, because it serves a purpose of protection right. Well my Necklace serves a purpose to my mother, don't confuse this as she will be sadned if she saw me without the Necklace.

You should Also question the Brides Wearing Jewlery on their Wedding day and the days following it. The Body is a Temple and the Temple of Sikhism (Harmandir Sahib) is covered with Gold, Why? Shouldn't they set an Example to the Sikhs?? If you can feel the presence of God inside of Harmandir Sahib Regardless of the Covering/Decorating the outter Shell with Gold, then if i wear a Necklace will he Punish me. I will only hurt myself if i Attach myself to that Gold. I don't have the Desire for Gold. Then it makes no difference if i wear it or not. The purpose of Rehat to not allow someone to wear Jewelry/Makeup is so that the desire/Attachment to Maya does not occur, well i am telling you that i have no desire for Gold, so what difference does it make if i wear it or not. When i know and Within me no Desire arises for the Gold arises by the blessing of Waheguru.

So keep your Rehat about me wearing a Necklace to yourself...i will take it up with Waheguru when i see him :!:

    Dear Pheena

Very nicely explained... Makes a perfect sense to me...

  11. Neways, has any of u guys who belong to jalandhar ever been to Jalandhar Kent /Shawny? My dad was in the army so we used to go to the Jalandhar kent and used to go to this supermarket thingy called ( Canteen ) for soliders. You could buy things at cheaper price than on the market.

Bass i got lost in one of those freshy moments

    ... :D

My childhood (5yrs to 14yrs) was spent in Jalandhar Cantt... Even today I can remember most of gali and nukkad of Cantt... Where you putup in Cantt ? You must have been to Regal Cinema and Sadar Bazzar? Oh I miss those days... those were really happy days... :(

Thanx for revitalising those moments...

  12. Sat Sri Akal

Why did Bhai Nabi and Ghani Khan lie when they acclaimed that the Person they were Carrying on their Shoulder was Uch tha Peer when he was Guru Gobind Singh?? Their Lying was justified, because they had to lie to Protect the Truth.

 Shri Gobind Singh ji himself said that to have Dharam, we should have Raj... Raj Bina Dharam Nahi... (plz correct me about the exact wording) and for running a Raj, there has to be a certain kind of politics involved to make things happen... so if Guru Ji had thought on those lines then He himself would not have agreed to be carried that way... i.e. by a kind of lying for the sake of Dharam... Truth...

Next time a Girl runs into your home with half torn clothes, and a while later a Man comes to your doorstep asking you if you had seen a girl run by, please feel free to tell him the Truth that she is hiding in your house.

Picking up a sword should be your last choice, not the First.

    Totally agree :!:

Look if you don't understand what i am trying to say then simply ignore me... i can't explain it any better than i have in the other thread.

I think you make a perfect sense to me... :)

    Dear Jogi

Take it easy... everybody is having fun... no body has picked up swords to decide, which place is better... Ah! Have they...? Naa... its naive to think on those lines... :)

I think dear Bikramjit could put some light this issue as to why there is always comparison between Malwa Sikhs and Doaba Sikhs... Let sikh-history unfold itself...

  15. A book in many volumes has been published by a man living in Canada, which created controversy. He has been summoned by Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. The writer could hide his identity. It would be more beneficial for his VIEWS. I know some people, who had appreciated his writings. Then they were told about his IDENTITY. They were told that the writer was once in the Punjab Police and a case was registered against him. He was accused of a theft. He jumped the bail and reached Canada. Now, the people, I mentioned above, are against of his writings.

His writings were not changed, but his identity made a difference. Before knowing his real IDENTITY, they believed that the controversial book has been written by a CANADIAN, so it must be a valuable book. After knowing his IDENTITY, now they say that this book has been written by a thief/bail-jumper, so he cannot be believed.

    Dear amrit

You mean to say then when SGPC banned Gurbilas Patahshi 6 on the basis of writings of Kala Afgana, they did not know his backgroud, pretty strange  ?

You must not forget that in his writting no where he has tried to manipulate SGGS... and he supports each and every arguement based on atleast five references from SGGS... seems pretty clean to me... Can you enumerate the problems in his writings, which have irked you...?

And on his backgroud... the charges against him when in Punjab Police and being involved in theft are pity naive... :? if we can use some common sense then we can realise that those were the troubled times for Sikhi in 80s & 90s, when he was writing... and he could have been falsely framed as well... which is quite easily possible... who can prove his innocence... during the times of KPS Gill, Can you? Not me? He may have been framed coz he was exposing the consipiracy of slowing but surely introduction of some brahminical practices into Sikhism as mentioned in Gurbilas Patshahi 6, some of which are still in practice as we are discussing in another thread

    Rest later
