‘Bijay Singh’ is the scholarly work by Bhai Vir Singhji, the great poet saint, who took to literature to better portray the Khalsa ideals and Sikh philosophy that stressed on resurrecting the spirits of the ideal man created by Guru Gobind Singh. The growing obliviousness of the Sikhs of their glorious past that is on its verge of loosing buoyancy can only be saved by spreading the message of Khalsa and the heroic deeds of Sikh Gurus. This lack of knowledge of the brave acts and sacrifices of reverend Panths and Gurus in Sikhism history who fought for their recognition, respect and protection of fellow people of faith, led to the publication of this literary work depicting the heroic sacrifice of Bijay Singh and his wife. The brave hero’s of the Sikh community fought with great zeal and power of the soul against all odds to keep the Khalsa principles intact.

What can be better than the power of words? The book titled as ‘Bijay Singh’ came out in the year 1899 and was an attempt to highlight the passion of common people of the Sikh community to end the tyrannical rule of the Mughlas. The book depicts the trails, tortures and troubles faced by Bijay Singh and his wife and revealing characters of the rulers wanting to rule the Sikhs by means of torturing them which is described as barbarous, fanatic and tyrannical. This book came out just after the first book authored by Bhai Vir Singhji. Bijay Singh was the son of Courtier Diwan Lakhpat Rai, who took to Sikhism.

The novel has a great portrayal of heroic acts and battles fought by Bijay Singh and others in his troop to end the tyrannical rule and tortures inflicted on innocent people of the Sikh community by the barbaric Nazir-ud-din, the governor of Jalandhar. Bijay Singh made a huge sacrifice of laying his life before the rulers and thus contributed his fullest to save his brethren. The novel ends in the retrospection of the fact and belief as recited by Bijay Singh breathing his last- "Blessed is the Lord of aigrette (Guru Gobind Singh) and blessed is the holy SANGAT (Holy Assembly) Blessed Blessed Blessed."

This book has been compiled wonderfully into an e-book which is now available for download totally free of cost. Check out the links provided in the previous post given above this post.
