Jini Satgur Seveya

Recommended Posts

(It is written especially for a Gursikh, who is mostly known as N3O Singh).

When Guru Nanak Dev Jee was in Sri Kartaarpur Sahib, a group of religious minded people came to meet him.

The members of the group said, "Raam Krishan Jee".

Guru Jee replied, "King Raam (the God Almighty) is True. You are welcome. Please sit down. I am sacrificed to you".

They bowed their heads and sat down. Guru Jee asked, "Is everything okay?"

They replied, "Today, we are pleased to see you".

After sometime, they prayed before Guru Nanak Dev Jee, "Guru Jee! We have a prayer to make, if you please allow us".

Guru Jee said, "Say whatever you have to".

They said, "Guru Baba Nanak Jee! We are sacrificed to you. This living being is voluptuary. How can this sinner be saved? How can this soul swim over the ocean of existence? The Vedas and saints say that it is very difficult to cross the ocean of the world. How can we cross this ocean?"

Guru Nanak Dev Jee replied,

"Jini Satgur Seveya Piyaare, Tin Ke Saath Tare.

Tina Thhaak Na Paayeeyai Piyaare, Amrit Rasan Hare.

Boode Bhaare Bhai Bina Piyaare, Tare Nadar Kare". 1.

(Those, who served the True Guru, O Beloved! their companions are saved. No one blocks their way, O Beloved, and the Lord's Nectar is on their tongue. Those, without the Fear of the God, are so heavy that they drown, O Beloved! But the God carries, casting His Glance of Grace). (Sri Guru Granth Sahib, page 636).

The Sikhism believes that one cannot get salvation by his actions only. The salvation is not something, which can be gotten by our efforts. To get the salvation, to cross the ocean of the existence, we need 'Sangat' (company) of those, who already have gotten salvation. We need 'Sangat' (company) of those, who have served the True Guru. They are selected by the God. They do not find any obstruction in their ways. They got the 'Amrit', the Nectar. The Name of the God is the Nectar.

Yes, one can get salvation. Yes, one can be saved, but for that, one should go to those, who served the True Guru. Guru is the center of the Sikh ideology. Guru is the center of the religion. Guru is the center of the spirituality. I do not hesitate to say that Guru is the center of the universe.

There is fear in this world. Someone is afraid of law. Someone is afraid of his personal enemies. Someone is afraid of his fate. Someone is afraid of his ill health. These are the worldly fears.

While walking on the path of spirituality, we should get rid of these worldly fears. The fact is that we become 'fearless' if we worship 'The Fearless' (Nirbhayo). But we should have another 'fear' in our hearts, if we want to be 'fearless'. This fear is the fear of the God. This is not any worldly fear. This is the sacred one. This will lead us to the spiritual path. This fear will escort us to the path of 'fearlessness'. This fear will make us light.

But there are some people, who are not afraid of anyone or anything. They can call themselves brave ones. Some of them are not afraid of even the God Almighty. Actually, they do not believe that the God even exists. So they commit sins 'fearlessly'. They believe that no one will punish them for the sins they committed. Because they are not afraid of the God, because they do not believe in the God, they continue to commit sins without any hesitation. Thus, they carry a huge burden of sins. With these sins, they have become so heavy. Now, they are incapable to cross the ocean. They will sink undoubtedly.

But, does it mean such sinners have not any hope? Guru Nanak Dev Jee says that even such people can cross the ocean of existence. How? With the 'Nadar' (Grace) of the God. The God Almighty is so kindhearted that he carries even such people across, casting His Glance of Grace.

Guru Nanak Dev Jee said further,

"Bhee Toohai Saalaahna Piyaare Bhee Teree Saalaah.

Vin Bohith Bhai Dubiyai Piyaare Kandhee Paaye Kahaah". 1. Rahaao.

(I have to praise You, O Beloved! I have to sing Your Praises. Without the boat, one is drowned in the sea of fear, O Beloved; how can one reach the distant shore?)

The 'fear' is a big 'fear' for us. We are afraid of the ocean of existence, the ocean of the fear. Actually, the existence is the reason for all of our fears. The law exists, so we are afraid of it. The diseases exist, so we are afraid of them. The ill fate exists, so we are afraid of it.

Without the boat of the fear of the God Almighty, one cannot reach the distant shore. We will have to create sacred fear of the God if we want to be saved. We have to praise the Waheguru. We have to sing His Praises.

"Saalaahee Saalaahna Piyaare, Dooja Avar Na Koye.

Mere Prabh Saalaahan Se Bhale Piyaare, Shabd Rate Rang Hoye.

Tis Kee Sangat Je Milai Piyaare, Ras Lai Tat Viloye". 2.

(I have to praise the Praiseworthy Lord, O Beloved; there is no other one to praise. Those, who praise my God, are good, O Beloved. The love is formed when one imbues with the Word. If I join their company, O Beloved! I can churn the essence and so find joy).

Everyone cannot be praised. There should be some merits in the person, whom we praise. The 'Bhagats' of the God do not find anyone else, who can be praised. There is no other one, which can be praised. The reality is that the 'Bhagats' of the God know the fact there is no other, who/which is existed in this world. Only the God is the Truth. Only the Truth is to be praised.

Those are the good people, who praise the God Almighty. They meditated by the Word. Now, if anyone wants to get salvation, he will have to join their company.

"Pat Parvaana Saach Ka Piyaare Naam Sacha Neesaan.

Aayeaa Likh Lai Jaavna Piyaare Hukmee Hukam Pachhaan.

Gur Bin Hukam Na Boojheeyai Piyaare Saache Saacha Taan". 3.

(The Truth's letter of approval is honorable; acceptable, O Beloved! The True Name of the God is the Insignia. The person, who came into this world, will depart with written letter of approval, O Beloved! Realize the Command of the Commander. O beloved! This Command is not understood without the Guru. The Power of the True God is True).

"Hukmai Andar Nimmeya Piyaare Hukamai Udar Majhaar.

Hukmai Andar Jammeya Piyaare Oodhau Sir Ke Bhaar.

Gurmukh Dargah Jaaneeyai Piyaare Challai Kaaraj Saar". 4.

(His Command, O Beloved, conceives the living being! It is grown in the womb by His Command. By His Command, it is born, O Beloved! Headfirst and upside-down. The 'Gurmukh' is honored in the Court of the God, O Beloved! He departs after resolving his affairs).

"Hukmai Andar Aayeaa Piyaare Hukame Jaado Jaaye.

Hukmai Bann Chalaayeeyai Piyaare Manmukh Lahai Sazzaye.

Hukmai Shabd Pachhaaneeyai Piyaare Dargah Paidha Jaaye". 5.

(By His Command, the living being came into the world, O Beloved! And by His Command, it goes. By His Command, one is bound and gagged and driven away, O Beloved! The 'Manmukh' suffers his punishment. By His Command, one realizes the God by the 'Shabd', O Beloved! He goes to the Court of the God robed in honor).

"Hukmai Ganat Ganaayeeai Piyaare Hukmai Haumai Doye.

Hukme Bhavai Bhavaayeeai Piyaare Avgan Muthhee Roye.

Hukam Sinvaavai Shaah Ka Piyaare Sach Milai Vadiyaayee Hoye". 6.

(By His Command, some accounts are accounted for, O Beloved! By His Command one is entangled in egotism and duality. By His Command, one is wandered in reincarnation, O Beloved! He cries out deceived by demerits. If he realizes the Command of the God, O Beloved! Then he gets the Truth and Honor).

"Aakhan Aukha Aakheeyai Piyaare Kiyon Suneeyai Sach Naaon.

Jinni So Saalaaheyaa Piyaare Haun Tin Balhaarai Jaaon.

Naaon Milai Santokheeyaan Piyaare Nadree Mel Milaao". 7.

(It is difficult to utter the Name, O Beloved! How can we hear the True Name? I am a sacrifice to those, who praised the God, O Beloved! If I get the Name, I would be satisfied, O Beloved! By His Grace, I would be united in His Union).

When we read the religious books or listen to any preacher, we start to think that it is an easy job to recite the Name of God. Unfortunately, there are such people/groups, who spread lies about the worship of the God or the True religion. They tell us to join their groups. They encourage us to learn one or two tunes (or musical notes) on the harmonium and then ask us to do 'keertan' in their group. They ask us to shout the Word 'Waheguru' again and again. They call it the 'Naam Simran'. They call 'Malechh' or 'Manmukh' to other people, who do 'Ajapa-jaap'.

Such people shout the Name of the God and think they are reciting the Name of the God. They forget what Bhagat Kabeer Jee said, "Kabeer Mulla Munaare kiyan chadain Saanyee na Bahra hoye. Jaan kaaran too bang deh dil hee bheetar joye". ((Kabeer! O Mullah, why do you climb to the top of the minaret? The Lord is not hard of hearing. Look within your own heart for the One, for whose sake you shout your prayers). (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee, page 1374).

Actually, they are not reciting the Name of the God. They are just trying to tell others that they recite the Name of the God. For this purpose, they would tell others that they got 'Anand' today while reciting (shouting) the Name. They will use loud-speakers to shout the Name. But, the God is not hard of hearing.

In fact, it is very difficult to recite the Name. Guru Nanak Dev Jee says that he is sacrifice to those, who praised the God.

"Kaayeya Kaagad Je Theeyai Piyaare Man Masvaanee Dhaar.

Lalta Lekhan Sach Kee Piyaare Har Gun Likhauh Veechaar.

Dhan Lekhaaree Naanaka Piyaare Saach Likhai Urdhaar". 8. 3.

(O Beloved! If the body becomes the paper, the mind inkpot; if the tongue becomes the pen, O Beloved! Write the Praises of the Waheguru after consideration. Blessed is the scribe, O Naanak, who writes the True Name enshrining it within his heart).

The only purpose of our birth into this world is to sing the Glory of the Waheguru Jee. While doing so, the 'Bhagat' becomes the statue of the Glory. It seems as if his body became the paper on which he writes the Glory of the God using his tongue as a pen. His mind is totally absorbed in the love of Prabhu. Now, his mind is his ink.

The lover of the God Almighty praises the God. He thinks again and again of the God. He thinks again and again the merits of Waheguru Jee. 'Veechar' is very essential for a true religious person. We cannot follow any belief blindly. So, a true worshiper does 'Veechaar' (consideration).

After the consideration, the worshiper writes the glory. His body is the paper. His mind is the inkpot. His tongue is the pen. But, there are very few such writers.

There are so many other writers. Some write false stories. Some write even what happened in reality (press reporters). Some writers write the books for science students. The Universities publish the research papers/thesis of the writers. But, these writings are not useful in the Holy Court of the God Almighty.

Well, some people write religious articles/books. By doing so, they try to spread the message of their religions. Still, they are the worldly writers. They write to spread their own views. They want to be popular among the masses. They write to preach their religion, so that they could become the religious leaders of their communities. They write to spread their new ideas, so that they could start a new group, sect or religion. Some of them could be good writers. But, Guru Nanak Dev Jee did not praise even such writers.

Those are different people, who are praised by the Guru Nanak Dev Jee. They are praised even if they did not write even a single word on a worldly paper. They are praised even if they did not get any recognition by any of the universities.

The Waheguru accepts their writings. They write the Glory of the God and the God read what they write on the papers of their bodies. They are accepted the writers by My Guru Nanak Dev Jee and he says that such writers are blessed.

Such blessed ones are saved the God.

The group of the religious minded people, who came to Guru Nanak Dev Jee, was satisfied with the reply by Guru Nanak Dev Jee. All the members of that group touched the holy feet of Guru Jee. They became the Sikhs of Guru Nanak Dev Jee. They started to recite the Name of the Guru.
