Addressing a gathering here, he urged the Sikh leadership to set an example by fighting all social evils. The Jathedar asked the leadership to take a pledge in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib that they, would never imbibe liquor, or any kind of drugs and also oppose giving of and taking dowry. He also asked the Sikh leaders to pledge to fight female foeticide.
