in my opinion, modern day shaheedi is no different to the modern terrorist concepts of martyom, its as stupid and pointless.

Die for any cause link it to religion and you can con God and your community into accepting you as a great martyr... automatically gain access to heaven or something good and be praised.

The fanatics worry about Hindu influences in mainstream sikhi or n-ih-angs, however I think they should worry about confused Islamic influences in their beliefs, such as this crazy new shaheedi

In the history of the world there have been countless shaheeds, yet they are all unnamed and unknown, we pay our respects through the ardas we do every day, those great maha shaheeds who are known and remembered earnt that through not the way they died but the way they lived. It wasnt the end of their life we respect as much as it is the power that they had built up through seva, simran, sangat that led to them being able to leave this world in the manner they did.

To me thats the first rule of becoming a shaheed to be shaheed while alive, the death part is unimportant.

Sikh guys doing the five finger shuffle question, in my opinion if you control your kaam and thats one way to do it then so be it, however there are alternatives to also help reduce kaam like yoga etc

best thing to do is get a software called camtasia (can be downloaded from certain bittorrent sites, however I would never suggest such an illegal thing as downloading software via bittorrent is illegal!!) just for information purposes the site a person wishing to commit this faul illegal act is isohunt.com and type camtasia into the search bar. Very bad people do these things. !

this program can be used to record whatever is on your screen, so set it to record the screen as you play the video on google vids. and hey presto you got a copy. I would advise using a codec or mp3 as recording it to a raw avi file will be massive !

I can not confirm wether it has been changed in their written form of the rehit maryada, but can confirm that during amrit sanchar the do mention that the use of degh, and consumption of mahaprashad is not allowed.

However, I cant confirm but have heard that sometimes it may not be stated during the amritsanchar ..lol so its a bit of pic and mix..

Baba Nihal singh the Jathedar of the Hariavela dal does do anti degha mahaparshad parchaar outside of Punjab.

However, two Nihangs, Balwinder Singh of Dashmesh Tarna Dal, Sangrur, and Major Singh of Guru Nanak Tarna Dal, Batala, were seriously injured when their horses collided.

I can confirm from personal experience that even though the main jathedars and parchaar of Hariabela is vegi and non degha, many of the high ups in the hariabela dal do engage in both degha and mahaparshaad.

officially only budhadal can give out farlas, unfofficially they can be passed on brought, just placed in a damalla at will just like amrit can only be given by panj pyare infront of maharaj, however anyone can put on the kakar and claim they legit amritdharis.

To be honest malwa sher I have upmost respect for a farla, but only once the bearer has earned that respect. simply blindly following a farladhari singh because he has the farla no matter who gave it to him, is no different from idol worship and stupidity.
