    In search of God

In a mother’s womb were two babies.

One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?”

The other replied, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”

“Nonsense,” said the first. “There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?”

The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we can’t understand now.”

The first replied, “That is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short. Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.”

The second insisted, “Well I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here. Maybe we won’t need this physical cord anymore.”

The first replied, “Nonsense. And moreover, if there is life, then why has no one ever come back from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery, there is nothing but darkness and silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.”

“Well, I don’t know,” said the second, “but certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.”

The first replied “Mother? You actually believe in Mother? That’s laughable. If Mother exists then where is She now?”

The second said, “She is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that we live. Without Her, this world would not and could not exist.”

Said the first: “Well I don’t see Her, so it is only logical that She doesn’t exist.”

To which the second replied, “Sometimes, when you’re in silence and you focus and listen, you can perceive Her presence, and you can hear Her loving voice, calling down from above.”

Maybe this was one of the best explanations of the concept of GOD.

Some facts of Guru and Gobind:

    ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਜੀਉ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਭਗਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ

Aapae Sathigur   Aap Sabadh   Jeeo Jug Jug Bhagath Piaarae ||

He Himself is the True Guru, and He Himself is the Shabad; in each and every age, He loves His devotees(souls).

In this verse of Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj,  He is revealing us the true nature of Waheguru/Lord or God....

He says that, that Lord is Shabad  itself,  as its true form.

Then other thing whcih He reveals us , is that in each yuga, because of His love for His devotees(souls), He comes as Guru, to awaken them and teach them the path of Nam bhakti, in order to reunite them with Him, in His Shabad form as seen above and below:

    ਆਪੇ ਦਾਨਾ ਆਪੇ ਬੀਨਾ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ

Aapae Dhaanaa Aapae Beenaa Aapae Saev Karaaeae ||

He Himself is All-knowing, and He Himself is All-seeing; He inspires us to serve Him.

    ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ

Gur Kee Saevaa Kharee Sukhaalee Jis No Aap Karaaeae ||

Serving the Guru brings great peace; they alone do it, whom the Lord inspires to do so.

    ਨਾਮੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਨਾਮੋ ਜੰਮੈ ਨਾਮੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

Naamo Beejae Naamo Janmai Naamo Mann Vasaaeae ||

They plant the seed of the Name, and the Name sprouts within; the Name abides within the mind.

Such is the beant wadeeayee and mahima of Waheguru Akal Purukh.

Found this following gem by Sree Guru Amar Das from the Ocean of spiritual diamonds of Gurbani, and feel like sharing with the sangat here:

    ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਕਰਉ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਜੇ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਮਿਲਾਈਐ

Gur Aagai Karo Binanthee Jae Gur Bhaavai Jio Milai Thivai Milaaeeai ||

I offer my prayers to the Guru; if it pleases the Guru, He shall unite me with Himself.

    * Here in the verse above, He is telling us that, to fulfill our deisre of realizing Him, in our hands is only that much to offer Him our sincere bhakti, (nishkam bhakti), and then, if it only pleases Him, He shall reunite us with Himself. It is not a business deal, neither like receiving wages for working for so many hours or days.

In His court, only true love and devotion count, not numbers...

  4. Some say Amritvela is from 12 am to 2 am, some say from 12 am to 6 am, all opinions are respected.

But the thing is, whether it is that time or any other, whenever we access there we shall always receive the same quality and quantity of Amrit within, if only we concentrate and focus with purity irrespective of the day time, for at our level we have hours and timings, and within is only His Jot/Shabad/Amrit, at all times.

We should not discourage anyone, if for any reason is unable to attend those early hours.

Hopefully some day, that person will make it possible to attend Bhakti in the Amritvela, as stated in posts above.

    Waheguru Ji,

Can I start amritvela at 12 am?

    Indeed a very good question.

And although all the posters above have given very good answers, I would like to also add my 2 cents as per the following sacred bachans of Fifth Patshahee in the  Bani:

    ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈ ਜਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

Rain Dhinas This Sadhaa Dhhiaaee J Khin Mehi Sagal Oudhhaarae Jeeo ||3||

Night and day, I always meditate on Him; in an instant, He saves all.

    ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਖੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ

    Anmrith Varakhai Anehadh Baanee ||

The Ambrosial Nectar, the Unstruck Melody of Gurbani rains down continually.

One may ask, why does Guru Jee say that we can meditate on Him anytime be it day and/or  night?

And the answer to this question is given by Guru Jee in the second verse above.

Is it not the ambrosial nectar of Amrit what we  look forward for? In that sense, He says The Ambrosial Nectar, the Unstruck Melody of Gurbani rains down continually.

So brother, if that Amrit it rains down continouslly, what wrong is in doing His bandagee or meditation anytime  during the day?

Let us be frank and ask ourselves, are we only going to get it, at midnight, or any other specific time?

You see, we deliberately limit ourselves, when Guru Sahiban opens His hands wide, and gracefully showers us with this Amrit 24/7. For, if we missed the chance at some time, why not try to get that spiritual wealth as soon as possible again.

Why wait for a specific time?

Who knows, that by postponing, we may be alive or not by then.

    Why to take any risks?

That also when He gives us total freedom to amass the spiritual wealth as much as possible without limitations.

True, ideal, and perfect is that very moment/time,  which we try to meditate on that supreme Truth, all else is time wasted.

    Stay blessed.

Sometimes I think I have to think outside the box to understand the true essence of the Gurbani.

    So true brother.

Many a times we are all conditioned by what we see others do, but the fact is, each one has to find his/her own comfort level, and this is where one should listen and follow to what our heart is whispering us; because in the end what matters is, not what people say or think, but that what the Gurbani says, which is the ultimate valid truth.

    ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੧॥

    Hukamae Maelae Sabadh Pashhaanai ||1||

By the Hukam of His Command, He unites those who recognize the Word of the Shabad.

*In the verse above of Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj Jee, He clearly and openly  reveals us the secret of reuniting ourselves with Him.

He says that it is His Hukum as such, that to those who meditate on His Name, and manifest it within themselves, He shall reunite with Himself.

No other tricks, no shortcuts, nor variants, neither  substitute practices are of any avail or help to us, for only His Name, can throughly cleanse us,  and lead us to Him.

It should be noted, that the Truth above, is the hukum literally given by Guru Jee, for the sole purpose of our reunion with Him.

In relation to this beautiful thread created by brother Bhoolea,  found the following deep and profound awesome verse of Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj Jee :

    ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਨਾਸਤਿ ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਸਿਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ

Eaek Sabadh Dhoojaa Hor Naasath Kandh Mool Man Laavasithaa

There is only the One Word of the Shabad; everything else shall pass away. Let this be the fruits and roots of your mind's diet.

Note: Here, He is telling us, that different Names of Him (written, spoken) , may come and go with time, in different languages, dharmas, etc ......

But, by the meditating practice on those given /passed upon on us by  His Bhagat Jan, His Gurmukhs, Guru Sahiban,  it will  take us to those subtle spheres of consciousness, where only one changless, unspoken, unwritten Shabad/Nam exists;  and it is about this very Nam, of which Guru Jee sings its limitless glory throughout the Bani.

    A) With Wahegurus grace waking up at amrit vela is no issue but doing more that an hour of sitting and meditation is. Also I find it very hard to concentrate on jaap. Hopefully that will improve over time.

B)Then I thought to myself if Waheguru ji have broughtme upto this point they will take me further up. Im not looking for any experiences but just want go back to true home. May Waheguru blessed us with enlightenment.

A)Good to hear these your sincere words above. About lack of concentration.... do not worry much, for the mind has been wandering outside since we stepped into the mayavee creation long long ago... nevertheless our job is to try to sit and meditate and give it the antidote of His  Name, first it will rebel for not wanting it, but brother, it is the only jugtee to free our surtee/soul from its clutches and return back to our Nijh Ghar. We have been collecting countless karmas, sanskaras in countless lives, so naturally it will take its time in getting purified and thus enjoy the taste of Nam.

Once the mind gets the taste of Nam, it will be our friend and never ever become an obstacle in our bhakti.

B)This is the right attitude of submission and staying in His bhanaa. Keep it up always, for abiding with it, we continuously receive kirpa from Him, this, helps us and takes us towards Him. It is the highest form of love and devotion for Him, and only in it lies our welfare.

    Stay blessed.

Thank you everyone for detailed responses and tips. These doubts which mind creates are very distracting and really send you in wandering . While reading Gurbani, this question pops up so many times why none of bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib mentions word Waheguru but mentions many other NAAM.

Then I believe that as awareness rises these doubts should clear up.

Its all possible with Wahegurus grace and forgiveness. Hopefully time will come when there will be progress in mind focus as well as rise in awareness.

    Sat sri Akal

    SSA brother Bhoolea Jee,

in addition to my post above, this much I would like to add:

All written and spoken names of the Lord, as  said are descriptive, they have a time of when they started. His lovers when realized Him  within themselves, placed before us  these names as per the attributes/qualities they saw in Him.

But all these names, are just names like  when a mother calls her children;  like my heart, my queen, my champion, my king, etc ..... so you see the relation of a mother with  her child is not based on words or names, but is a relation of love above anything.

Though she uses all these words/names to call her child, out of love.

In a similar way, the True Nam, Anhad Nam, Satnam, Waheguru, Sachee Bani, Akhand Keertan, Amrit Bani, Akal Purukh, etc  etc ....  are again His attributive names.

And they are so pure, that when we meditate on anyone of them, with love , with sharda, with purity in mind,; we are able to concentrate and withdraw our soul consciousness within ourselves at the spiritual and subtle realms and with His kirpa, reach to a point where we get hold on that changeless creative Nam throughout the yugas, which is in all in same measure irrespective of caste, creed or nationality.  For all carry His Jot.

So, it is by the practice of meditation on One of His names, which will ultimately reunite us with Him.

Simran meditation of these names is the just the begining of our spiritual journey towards Sach Khand.

From then on as we progress, there comes a time, when we need not simran anymore, for then we have gained that much purity that we have developed our finer faculties of perceiving that all Omnipresent Nam, with its Lights and sounds...  we just close our eyes and we catch hod of that subtle Nam and move further within and higher.

So to conclude, our true nature is Nam, our origin is Nam, our destination is Nam, everything is that Nam, and it is to this very Nam, Unwritten Law, Unspoken language, Anhad Bani, to which we have to strive and manifest within us, as per means of our salvation and cutting off for once and ever the chains of "chaurasee ka chakar" of the unendable cycle of births and deaths.

    Stay blessed.

    THE PATIENT SAINT

A recluse lived under a large yew tree. Every day he spent much of his time praying to the  Lord. After many years he was visited by an angel .

The recluse asked this angel who he was, and the angel replied that it was his duty to report back to the Lord on the progress of those who did their spiritual practice with devotion.

The recluse was pleased with this answer and requested that the angel take a message to the Lord.

He asked the angel to find out when he might have the great happiness of meeting the Lord. The angel agreed to do this and left on his mission.

After a short while the angel returned, but he told the recluse that he had such bad news for him that he was reluctant to pass it on.

The recluse insisted on hearing the answer to his question, and so the angel told him that he would not meet the Lord until as many years had passed as there were needles on the yew tree above his head.

The recluse immediately began to dance with joy. The angel was very puzzled by this reaction.

"Do you understand that there are millions of needles on this tree? "he asked, "And that you will not meet the Lord until millions of years have passed? "

The recluse said that he had understood this very clearly.

"Why then are you so happy ?" asked the angel.

The recluse replied, "I am happy because at last I have received a reply from my Beloved and He has promised we shall indeed meet one day. When that meeting takes place is not important."

At that very instant the Lord himself appeared and embraced the recluse.

The angel was very upset at these events. He said to the Lord, "I am your messenger, and you told me that you would not meet this man for many years. Now you make me appear as a liar.

    The Lord responded :

These things are for ordinary men. When there is someone special  who has transcended the laws of time and space within himself, then I also break those laws, and act instantaneously."

    IQ, EQ, SQ, AQ

According to psychologists, there are four types of intelligence:

    1) Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
    2) Emotional  Quotient (EQ)
    3) Social Quotient (SQ)
    4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

    1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ): this is the measure of your comprehension ability", solve maths; memorize things and recall subject matters.

    2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this is the measure of your ability to maintain peace with others; keep to time; be responsible; be honest; respect boundaries; be humble, genuine and considerate.

    3. Social Quotient (SQ):
This is the measure of your ability  to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go farther in life than those with high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize in improving IQ level while EQ and SQ are played down.

A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Your EQ represents your character; your SQ represents your charisma. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs but more especially your EQ and SQ.

EQ and SQ make one manage better than the other.

Pls don't teach children only to have higher IQ , but also to have higher EQ and SQ.

    Now there is a 4th one :
    A new paradigm

    4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ):
The measure of your ability to  go through a rough patch in life and come out without losing your mind.
AQ determines who will give up in face of troubles and may abandon their families.
In the current context of Corona, many professionally successful people are going thru bouts of Depression. Because they haven't seen and thus are unprepared for Adversity.

    To parents:
Expose children to other areas of life than academic. They should adore manual work, sport and art .

Develop their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of the parents.

Finally, do not prepare the road for the children. Prepare the children for the road.

    Dear Sangat ji,

Everytime I read bani mind wonders in following... what is the origin of naam 'WAHEGURU' , who started it,why We chant Waheguru Shabad which is not mentioned in Sri guru Granth Sahib ji instead of other Naams eg. Har Har or Ram Ram?

Please note I am not asking about Akal Purakh itself, I am wondering origins of Word/ Shabad Waheguru.

    Thank you in Advance.

    Sat sri Akal

    Brother Bhoolea Jee,

indeed you have asked a beautiful and a quite a deep question.

One thing is clear, whatsoever name we can recite, read or write, can be traced in time and history, means it started at some point.  And all the divine names, are  descriptive attibutes/qualties/ of the Divine.

And as such, these are many, like Ram, Rahim, Khuda, God, Govind, Hari, Satnam, Bhagwant, Akal Purukh, Shabad, Nam, Dhur kee Bani, Sachee Bani, Amrit Bani, Akhand Keertan, and so on .....

WAH E GURU , is also a descriptive name of that ultimate Truth, where  Wah stands for that  wonderous  being, who is Guru, the Aad Guru, Shabad or Nam, the creative force of all that exists seen or unseen.

But definetely, that Power Waheguru is not the word itself, for if it was so, how could a simple word which can be written or read, create all the limitless and countless creations upon creations ....

People tend to mistake Nam, for literally name.

Bhagat Kabir Jee in this respect says in the Bani:

    ਬਾਵਨ ਅਛਰ ਲੋਕ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਇਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Baavan Ashhar Lok Thrai Sabh Kashh Ein Hee Maahi ||
Through these fifty-two letters, the three worlds and all things are described.

    ਏ ਅਖਰ ਖਿਰਿ ਜਾਹਿਗੇ ਓਇ ਅਖਰ ਇਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
Eae Akhar Khir Jaahigae Oue Akhar Ein Mehi Naahi ||1||
These letters shall perish; they cannot describe the Imperishable Lord. ||1||

    ਜਹਾ ਬੋਲ ਤਹ ਅਛਰ ਆਵਾ ॥
Jehaa Bol Theh Ashhar Aavaa ||
Wherever there is speech, there are letters.

    ਜਹ ਅਬੋਲ ਤਹ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਵਾ
Jeh Abol Theh Man N Rehaavaa ||
Where there is no speech, there, the mind rests on nothing.

In another Ang, he again says:

    ਬਾਵਨ ਅਖਰ ਜੋਰੇ ਆਨਿ

    Baavan Akhar Jorae Aan ||

The fifty-two letters have been joined together.

    ਸਕਿਆ ਨ ਅਖਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਨਿ

Sakiaa N Akhar Eaek Pashhaan ||

But people cannot recognize the One Word of God.

    ਸਤ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਕਹੈ ॥

Sath Kaa Sabadh Kabeeraa Kehai ||

Kabeer speaks the Shabad, the Word of Truth.

    ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਨਭੈ ਰਹੈ

Panddith Hoe S Anabhai Rehai ||

One who is a Pandit, a religious scholar, must remain fearless.

    ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਗਹ ਕਉ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ

    Panddith Logeh Ko Biouhaar ||

It is the business of the scholarly person to join letters.

    ਗਿਆਨਵੰਤ ਕਉ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ

    Giaanavanth Ko Thath Beechaar ||

The spiritual person contemplates the essence of reality.

And as First Patshahee says right from the begining:  Ik Oankar, Satnam.

This means, there is only One creator, which is the Nam and this Nam is Truth, means it never changes in its essence, and exists beyond the parameteres of time and space, which means, it has existed then when there was no time.

This Naam, is not something physical, nor astral,  neither causal, but a highest level of Consciousness, which is Parbrahm, which means that Truth, which is beyond Brahm/Maya, thus eternal and Infinite.

The Bani says: Aapeenay aap sajeeo, apeenay racheeo Nao.  This Nao/Nam, is the true nature or form of that ultimate Truth.

And that very Truth at our human level, came as Guru Sahiban, Gurmukh Jan, or Bhagat Jan of the highest level, such as those mentioned in Gurbani, in order to reveal  itself  in our human understandable language,  as seen in the following verse:

    ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਆਪਿ

    Gur Paarabreham Paramaesar Aap ||

The Guru is the Supreme Lord God; He Himself is the Transcendent Lord

For if  was not so, nobody can ever imagine even a tiny reality of it, we are already agyanis, lost in our own huge moorakhta, our reality is seen in the following verse:

    ਤੀਰਥਿ ਭਰਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਪੜਿਆ ਬਾਦੁ ਬਿਬਾਦੁ ਭਇਆ ॥

Theerathh Bharamai Rog N Shhoottas Parriaa Baadh Bibaadh Bhaeiaa ||

Wandering around at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, the mortal is not cured of his disease. Reading scripture, he gets involved in useless arguments.

And they told us also, nobody can reach Him, without boarding the vessel of Nam.

Now the question is how to get hold of that Nam? Where is that Nam?

The answers to such questions are found within the Bani:

    ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ

    Naam Dhrirraaeiaa Saadhh Kirapaal ||

By the Kind Mercy of the Holy Saints, the Naam has been implanted within me.

Once that Name has been blessed on us, what are we supposed to do ?

Well, the Bani says: Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya. Bani could never ever be so clear. The Bani says: do the jaap of that Nam alone , and you shall merge and become one with that Shabad/Nam. At other place, the Bani says: Jap mun Satnam, sadaa Satnam

In reality, whatever "word" or "name" is given to us by Guru Sahiban, has their power in it, to cleanse us and reunite us with our origin; it could be anything, as seen in the folloowing verse:  Nanak das mukh se jho bholay , eehaa uhaa Sach hovay

So if Guru Sahiban (the embodiment of the highest Truth) say repeat or meditate on Waheguru or Satnam for example, that is most sacred mantra valid for us, for it is uttered by them, and bestowed as a blessing upon us.

By meditating and focusing alone on Nam as instructed by Guru Jee, we are able to withdraw our soul consciousness within ourselves to the higher spiritual realms, and gradually also wipe away all our total karmas / sanskaras, thus become that much pure/pavitar, to board on the jahaaz of Nam, thus reach our Nijh Ghar in Sach Khand, in the lap of Satnam.

All wadeeayee and mahima is of Guru and Gobind, the 2 aspects of the same Truth.

    SSA.

  14.

    ANHAD/ANHAT BANI or SHABD :

A sound that is unending and knows no limits.

Also it could be described as an Audible life current originating from the Divine Will, endlessly carrying on the work of creating and sustaining the universe; interchangeably used with Anhat meaning 'Unstruck', as it it automatic and not instrumental.

It also means,  sound not produced by physical concussion; the mystic melody or music believed to be heard by the Yogis (persons of high spiritual attainment) in a state of ecstasy or super conciousness, as also those who engage themselves in Nam Bhakti.

In Gurbani it is used as a symbolical expression for experience of higher truths, or inner music which gives a feeling of divine bliss.

This is due primarily to Nam Simran (meditation) blessed by the grace of the Guru.

Guru Nanak says. "By following the steps or the Guru, practising His way of life, the flow of soundless music is felt within". (Adi Granth, ang. 922).

    Exactly.

That is what I was saying in my post above.

But people tend to mix up with things in their minds as rules, as if they were the Admins. Forgetting or ignoring what Forums are all about, which is being respectful,  being objective and clear as per best of one's ability, related to the topic or thread where posting.

RE fits, shaking, squirming, rolling around while doing simran. This is caused by negative energy/karam/presences being pushed away by Gurbani. Once they're gone the experience develops into anand.

The Gurus and Bhramgianis probably never went through this process because it is caused by the presence of negative energy or bad karma which is something a Pavitar Pursh would not have in the first place.

    Bhai Sahib,

This is a pavitar forum in which genuine seekers share their actual experiences and learn from each others personal experiences...Most posts are typically brief as well. It would be useful if we all kept to the same discipline. Thank you

    Some questions :

What has a pavitar forum to do with this thread or topic?

I have not seen apavitarta in any answers by the members above.

May I ask you, what apavitarta have you noticed?

Then being brief or not is relative and individual perspective to answer.

It all depends on how complete one may answer.

This does not mean, volumes of pages.

As long as one is not out of context and has an objective reply, it matters not much, if it is in one short line or 10 or 15...

Respect is important, sharing relevant information on the matter, with scientific evidences, or realistics,  by proffesionals, it does no harm to anybody.

On the other hand, what, if one has wrong or incomplete experiences, and one may induce someone in moving into the wrong direction, though unconsciously ?

Of what use is that pavitarta?

In which way is that answer helpful?

This is an open and respectful free forum, with many different topics, in which each one can contribute with questions or answers to the best of one's ability, without insulting, or belittleling anyone.

This is what forums are about.

Plus, not always are personal experiences shared as answers.

Many a times, links are copied and pasted by posters of all levels, with videos going from some minutes to an hour and above, as answers. So, you see, it is not always personal expierences, but information which maybe helpful.

I think, we have to arise from being so petty, and being if not much, at least just a bit open minded, this may solve many of the so created problems.

One should not try to impose anything on anyone, that is being silly.

One should arise above personal differences,   for one may like some posters / members,  or not like them for whatever reason, the only thing that should prevail,  is being objective, sticking to the topic and respectful  towards all.

Otherwise, one  is being negative.  And this should be the discipline, to not fall into negativity.

It says very little of someone trying to judge and say to someone do not  say / do,  this or that ....

Why so much limitedness,  or being manipulative ?

It's been a month now, and I'd like to share some things I noticed because of the advice of the sangat in the hopes that it may help someone who felt like I did at the time of writing the original post

Simran is being aware of waheguru ji that they are here right now and staying in this awareness of truly feeling their presence and remembering their qualities is to do their simran. Through doing the effort of jap, awareness of waheguru ji arises and you begin to feel waheguru ji is here right now.

Or what also works is reading, doing vichar, listening and Singing waheguru ji's praises/qualities.It starts to bring some papi filled guy like me who's totally forgetten waheguru ji into their rememberance and the mind becomes aware of waheguru ji. Listening to the praises of Waheguru while feeling their presence, how could it be that by consciously remembering their praises/qualities that love for waheguru ji won't arise. Remembering Waheguru ji's praises are so great that it will melt this stone heart and love will begin to seap through.Actually the reason it's so hard to feel this love is because there's so much poison within from the sins committed that the mind totally forgets waheguru ji. Without any awareness of waheguru ji's presence how can one expect to feel love. How can you love something you can't even remember. Well, the first step is to begin to remember, through jap and singing praises. Slowly and steadily, singing their praises with their grace, love will sprout and will burn away the weight of many sins from the mind, making it more pure, making it easier to find this love and easier to connect to waheguru ji. In Bani, it is emphasized so much to sing the gun of vaheguru ji and gurbani itself is full of praises of waheguru ji and is the praise of waheguru ji aswell. Every name used for waheguru ji is their quality/praise it's amazing. How do you even begin to remember the infinite one with infinite qualities and infinite praises, the one without any form and yet infinite forms? It's through their praise/gun. There is no beginning or end to their qualities and to their praise but I never understood most of the meanings of these qualities  and virtues in gurbani until I started reading english translations alongside bani. Even if I did,the feeling of presence that waheguru ji is infront me and everywhere wouldnt be there.

I noticed a huge difference especially with Jaap sahib, it is so amazing when you take some time to understand and do vichar of the meaning and it becomes simran. For so long,I'd be just reading nitnem banis without much understanding. Now, I sometimes I feel lightweight when reading bani/gurmantar jap in this way. I also feel something down near the center my chest, like something is going up and down.Any idea of what this might be,should I try doing anything with it or just leave it be and observe next time?Listening to ragis who do kirtan with love like bhai harjinder singh srinagar wale, bhai lakhwinder singh etc helps so much and I notice these things happen more when listening to kirtan and doing vichar of the shabad together.  I also don't feel miserable and frustrated like how I used to feel near the time of writing this post.  Things are better since then thanks to the grace of the sangat.I honestly would've never discovered any of this in the past month without the guidance from sangat here. I am so grateful for this virtual sangat.

    Brother Singh1213,

    Congrats.

Actually what you have written above, is all what Gurbani is about, to create and develope love within us for the most beloved, Waheguru Akal Purukh.

Then also it helps us to follow Gurmat implicitly, by understanding what it says, that also for the unique purpose of merging in Him, by loving Him with all our mind and heart.

    Stay blessed.

@Sat1176 Do colors have impact on listening to sound current. I have observed that while wearing blue of violet T-Shirt the sound current intensity  and vibrations in the body are so loud.

Also as i am following celibacy or preserving my semen. So after some days of retaining my semen i used to get sexual dreams. Any advice to overcome these things.

It seems like there are some demons who just want to drain my energy. When they are successful in their task in my dream i used to feel lethargic after waking up.

So again it took some days to get back to sound current with good intensity.

Any tips on above scenario or any thing mentioned Gurbaani or Guru Granth sahib.

Whenever my preserving streaks reaches around 21 days these things used to happen multiple times in a day while sleeping.

@Sat1176 any help from you or other senior members in this thread with knowledge must be appreciated.

    Guest NoFap,

    just my 2 cents.

In order to listen the sounds within, only kirpa, concentration, and purity are required.

Just as when we go in a cinema theatre, it does not matter what clothes or colors of those clothes we  wear, for the dialogues/sounds and the visualization of the movie, is done with our "attention" of our eyes and ears.

In a similar way, the soul has  2 faculties, to see and to listen, which can be opened with His simran, and concentration/meditation.

In that aspect, Third Patshahee tells us in the Bani: Nam jiskay man vaseeya, vajeh Sabad ganere.

This means, when we have enshrined the Nam within our heart/mind, we start hearing the celestial melodies of the Shabad, Bani, Anhad Nad, within us, that too only with His kirpa, if only we please Him. man cn do nothing by himself, unless He Himself  makes us do it.

    Stay blessed.

    To see without eyes; to hear without ears;

I think this is the corresponding shabad

Yes that is the corresponding  to the shabad of Second Patshahee.

And going with something related to it, feel like sharing the following points:

The thing is we are so much attached to the body and its organs, that we think when we shall leave from here, we shall somehow be there within with a similar body and its features, if not the same, in terms of color, size and gender.

Maybe that is true to an extent when we  are still in the lower spiritual realms, but as we proceed higher and higher beyond the creation of Brahm, then even the astral and causal bodies are left far behind, then only the pure soul free from any bonds soars high and high towards Sach Khand.

Have we ever thought, if Akal Purukh is a immense, infinite, subtle  non physical entity, and which is all powerful (samrath) though without any arms and hands,  omnipresent (sarvavyapak) without any body nor legs to move,  omniscient (Guru), without any head or brains and yet He has made out of nothing, wonderful creations upon creations.

He sees everything from micocospic to macrocosmic sizes, forms, colors, etc,  yet without any eyes, He listens to our prayers and pledges, yet withou ears...

If all that is possible with Him, and that is what our state going to be, why so much hatred, ahankar, agaynta, just because of color, caste, creed, due to the perishable body?

    What for?

When nothing of that will go with us, neither will count THERE.

    Then, why so much discrimination?

The path of Gurmat, is solely for the spiritual developement and uplift of the non physical entity called soul or jeev atma, that is it. This too, with non physical tools, such as love, devotion, morality, purity, faith, kirpa, Gurparsad ......

So, why limit ourselves and kill or cut each others throats, just for the blind word of religion ?

As per Gurbani, the only true religion, is His jaap, for its is this very practice only, which will make possible our union with Him, that too, to ultimately merge, thus burn away any petty notion of our individual identities.

All souls, are  rays with same light and warmth, which have emerged from Him, the One Origin of all and everything.

It is the each and every single ray(soul), which has to merge in their Origin/Sun, same in nature, not the bodies.

There in Sach Khand, only ONE Waheguru exists. He is like the huge Ocean, in which every river which flows into it, becomes the Ocean. Thus the river loses its limited and petty identity, in order to gain something, such as to become something Whole.

There is no such variety of people of any past, even all Bhagat Jan, Gurmukhs, Guru Sahiban who blessed us with their presence, after going from here, reached and became one with Waheguru  in Sach Khand.

If anybody thinks , that when reaching there, I will  see so and so entities, then sorry  to say, we have not understood spirituallity nor Gurmat, in spite of being so much clear our beloved Guru Sahiban throughout the Bani.

    Blessings to everyone.

I am writing this today in a bit of shock and disbelieve but at the same time a lot of peace and satisfaction.

These past few weeks/months had been a bit of a rough sail for me. I had lost a lot of faith in spiritual teachers. I had been hearing and seeing a lot of drama that didn't sit well with me. So part of me fell off the boat a bit. I was still listening to shabad and looking at parkash. But I wasn't putting effort in to try and move further. I was sitting still.

Something even worse happened in my personal life a few days ago. A very subtle but very strong attachment got pulled away from me. An attachment I didn't realize was there but was really consuming my mind. I'm not going to lie, I lost my stability. I was upset. Angry. Lost. Confused. And it had been a very long time since I experienced a pain that made me upset like that.

I began isolating myself and really letting my mind be consumed by shabad and parkash because I knew that was the only way out of the trap I had fallen into. I had to work extremely hard. But just now I was laying on the floor looking at parkash internally. I opened my eyes to look at the parkash that exists externally. Mind was clear, no thoughts. And I had a realization. "This parkash exists both outside and inside... Are my physical eyes the one seeing them?..... And then all of a sudden I felt this third area of space. A place that wasn't the internal body, nor the external world. It was this place in the middle. I think it was beyond the mind or some extension of the mind. And sitting in that space there was just parkash. It was like looking at a new world with a new set of eyes. The best way I can describe this is by using the term "non-physical" eyes.

It's as if the parkash outside and inside had become one. I cannot describe the amount of peace and contentment the mind and body feels sitting in that area. I don't know if it's correct for me to stay in that space. But I just wanted to write this out with the hopes that maybe someone knows what this is.

    Brother,

that much I can tell you, parkash and shabad can never harm anyone, on the contrary only benefits are received. So maybe, you need to focus more on simran, and enjoy whatsoever the Divine goes on marvelling and revealing you.

Have an attitude of being thankful at all times to that Supreme Divine Being, and trust it as a baby child to its mother.

Simran is a purifier technique/process by itself. The more we engage in it, the more purer we become, and the more we shed away our negativity,  although it may not be perceived by us .

    Stay blessed.

So recently I went down and have been attending a weekly program/divaan (I will not mention the place, Gurdwara or any names of any person) after having heard many rumours and things about it, and have seen everything for my self.

There is loud waheguru jaap which I truly enjoy as to say it is a good experience, one that i cannot get anywhere else however there is some things I simply do not understand and leaves me heavy hearted and uncomfortable. During the loud simran i see many people experiencing these 'fits' where they apparently seem to be in some kind of state but are just shaking and rolling around violently while screaming and crying. Then the person who is leading the divan sometimes stands up and tries to explain the reasoning for this however i cant seem to grasp it. I dont know if hes just giving a wrong excuse for it or if i geniuenly cannot find the answer. He said Gurbani explains why people scream, cry and start shaking when do simran but i have never found this in Gurbani. Well at least why people start shaking, i can kinda understand the crying.

Here are the questions I want answered:

    - Why do these fits happen? What does gurbani say about these:

    - Why people scream?

    - Why people cry?

    - ANd why people start shaking and having these 'fits' when doing simran?

    - Did the Guru Ji's go through these fits?

    - Did anyone in Sikhi history go through these fits? Like Bhai Mardana Ji, Baba Budda Ji, Bhai Gurdas Ji, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur?

    - Did any of todays or 21st centuries Sant Mahapurakhs experience these fits?

Seriously if someone shed some light on this it will clear a lot of things up for me, I dont want to have the thought in the back of my mind that I am going to this weekly program getting brainwashed by something that isn't even gurmat. I also want to know the reasoning behind these fits.... it doesnt even look like they are in any anand, it actually looks like they are experiencing an attack but i want to know what causes it. why does it happen to some people and not others. Is it a physical experience or spiritual experience. All this does not seem right to me in front of maharaj's hazoori.

Just sharing some info found related to the questions placed above by Guest Gupt Jee:

THE COMMON MISCONCEPTION ABOUT MEDITATION IS THAT IT IS PRIMARILY A STRESS-RELIEF TOOL.

That is how it has been marketed in the past. In my opinion, meditation is a life-long practice of un-smudging yourself to see who you truly are. To see your authentic self, without the myriad masks that we normally wear.

MEDITATION HELPS US REALIZE THE TRUTH, THE ULTIMATE TRUTH ABOUT OURSELVES.

When we begin the process of un-smudging the layers, a lot of emotional distress will be revealed. Either it is grief at all of those moments you were unaware of yourself, or sadness at lost time, or joy at the discovery of your true self. A lot of emotions will come up when you first start meditating. Like any other detox, this mental detox of meditation will reveal and release a lot of toxins. In order to let go of your past, the past must come up in the form of emotions.

Let the emotions come up and let them go. Release them. Do not hold on to them. They are of no use to you anymore. Cry if you want to. Laugh out loud if need be. Whatever emotion you are feeling, feel it intensely, lean into it, and then let it all go.

TEARS ARE A GREAT HEALER - A GOOD CRY CAN HELP YOU RELEASE SO MUCH NEGATIVITY AND TOXICITY. ALONG WITH MEDITATION, A GOOD CRY CAN CLEANSE YOUR SOUL FROM THE INSIDE OUT. WE ALL COULD DO WITH ONE OF THESE DEEP CLEANSES.

Don't be afraid of crying during or after meditation. You are not going crazy. It is a necessary step in the process of letting go of your past selves. They don't serve you anymore. In order to grow, and move upward to your higher self, the past selves must be discarded. Crying will help you do so.

    TIPS FOR BEGINNER MEDITATORS

    1. Take some time after any meditation session to be on your own.

This time is necessary for you to integrate the learnings and growth that a meditation practice entails. In addition, being alone will give you permission to let go of emotions and cry if necessary.

    2. Do not be afraid to cry.

Emotions are a natural part of who we are. Do not be ashamed of it. Crying is one of the most healing practices. It helps us let go of so much. I try to get a good cry in at least once a month.

    3. If you need to talk to someone after you cry, please do so with someone you trust.

You are in an extremely vulnerable position after a meditation cry session and you need to be around people who will take care of you.
