Sikhism is not compatible with Democracy (like the one followed in Canada, India, etc). Intellectual Democracy would be closer to Sikhism. Please do share your thoughts on it (with evidence if possible). Below is an interesting video of why Socrates (founding father of the Greek Philosophy) was against Democracy. Bhul chuk maaf

Sri Charitropakhyan Sahib jee Series - Charitar #36 and 37

The reason for the wait could again (similar to Charitar# 33) be the honour of the family. Dogar was a wealthy man. We can assume that he had a good standing in the society. Imagine if his wife's body is discovered along with the lover's (indicating an affair), it could bring shame to the family. IMHO, the Dogar made a foolish mistake in exposing her for just refusing an errand/chore. He should have held on to this secret of hers and brought it out at an more appropriate time. Even though, there seems to be nothing in the verses to indicate that he acted impulsively, Niddar (please see below) has highlighted this point in this translation. Without pausing to think the Dogra retorted: “It pains me greatly that you refuse me. Have you forgotten that day woman, when you swam across the river after first disposing of your lover’s corpse in the river? You were not afraid then?” (12) Bhul chuk maaf -
Harnek Neki is exposed in the video below by a Singh saab. According to him, he was a thief and involved with prostitutes. He was caught by Sant Baba Jarnail Singh jee Khalsa Bhindranwale and then received a sound thrashing by the Singhs of that time. Please listen to the video for full details. Bhul chuk maaf

The above can be related to the base tale. Chitar Mati possibly wants to avenge the destruction of her father's kingdom by Chitar Singh. Maybe the wise minister is trying to illustrate to Chitar Singh the powerful feelings of revenge, even in immoral women. Bhul chuk maaf -
Sri Charitropakhyan Sahib jee Series - Charitar #33

This Charitar teaches a person to stay calm and think deeply about the next course of action when confronted with a serious situation (when the mind is greatly affected by anger, lust, stress, etc) rather than just acting out instantly. The King was very wise and able to think about the repercussions of his action (of killing the queen and the lover). Please have a look below (Niddar's translation) and let's learn from it. Dohra – King Shatarket thought: “If I kill them together now the rumours will fly outside that in catching the Queen making love to another man, he sent her to the land of death.” The King deliberated: “This would bring shame upon him and his household’s name”. Sri Charitropakhyan Sahib jee Series - Charitar #36 and 37

The difference being that, in this Charitar, the lover is an employee of the husband, but in that case, he was not. Therefore, the gravity of the crime is more intense in this case. Bhul chuk maaf -

The above can remind us of the Pandit of the original tale, who did not tutor Hanwant Singh (thereby keeping him illiterate). His loyalty should have been towards the King (Chitar Singh), but he betrayed his master. In olden times, the role of the Pandit was very pertinent in educating the princes in the various fields of knowledge. This would prepare them to become suitable to sit on the throne in the future. He got those injuries when his wife went on a frenzy trying to kill him. The last line of Charitar# 36 alludes to it. ਨਿਜੁ ਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਘਾਇਲ ਕਿਯਾ ਨੈਕ ਨ ਰਹੀ ਲਜਾਇ ॥੧੬॥ She injured her husband, but did not even feel a bit of shame Bhul chuk maaf -

Jaggi's translation makes sense. So, the servant of the Jogi was sent out with the sword, while the Jogi stayed inside the house (but made to look like the lady had hidden him). Bhul chuk maaf -

Sri Charitropakhyan Sahib jee Series - Charitar #34
paapiman replied to chatanga1's topic in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib
I am a bit confused about this Charitar too. IMHO, it seems that she told the Jogi to take the sword, go out of the house and exclaim that this lady (your wife) has hid my thief at your place. In this way, the husband would feel that the Jogi was in the house looking for the thief, thereby not suspecting his wife of any illicit relationship. It seems that the Jogi had a servant with him. Maybe the servant came along with the Jogi to the house. That servant was made to look, as if he was hidden in the house. When the husband must have seen the servant (of the Jogi), he must have been satisfied (with the wife' false tale) that she was trying to save his life. I might be wrong. Can anyone else help?
