  1. I meant that a Singh will consider himself inferior to all other people (male or female) because of utter humility taught to us by Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev jee Maharaaj. Sister, I beg you, please do take amrit from wherever you feel like. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  2. Sister, I am not in favor of considering all women as inferior. But, you need to follow the maryada made by God. Women have certain capabilities which men don't have and I agree with it. Sikhism did a lot to uplift women, but still there are certain restrictions. A Singh will consider himself inferior to a woman (due to utter humility) and not superior. Even if you consider yourself equal to your husband, I don't think it is a bad thing to do as long as you remain faithful to him and love him. Also, I would request you at your feet to take Amrit as it is a precious item which is gained by huge grace of Satguru jee. If I said anything which hurt your feelings, please forgive me (I am a big idiot) but don't leave Sikhi. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  3. You can take amrit from anywhere as long as the Singhs who are part of the Panj Pyaray have high spiritual levels. There is currently NO one Sikh Rehat Maryada. The so-called Sikh Rehat Maryada has not been accepted by the panth. If you read the DDT RM, there is more than enough Gurbani in it, to make it understandable to an ordinary person like me. I think you should show respect towards Bhai saab Bhai Chaupa Singh jee as he was a great Sikh of tenth master. What is wrong in doing namastay to Sooraj Devta? Bhai Saab jee did not say to worship it. Namastay is used to greet and show respect to someone. Without Sun, there would be no life on Earth. It is a great creation of Satguru jee. DDT RM was written by Sant Gyani Gurbachan Singh jee Khalsa. Neither he nor Srimaan Baba Deep Singh jee Shaheed or Srimaan Baba Mani Singh jee Shaheed (founders of DDT) were born into Brahmin families. The reason, their thinking matches is because they are ALL SIKHS of Satguru jee. You can follow whatever you want. If you don't want to follow the orthodox sects (DDT, Nanaksar, Nihang, Sevapanthi, Nirmalay, etc), you can follow sects/cults which came later into the panth. It is NO surprise that all the sects which trace back their roots to the tenth master have more or less, the same kind of thinking. Just for example, Keski is NOT considered as a Kakaar by any orthodox sect of Sikhism and suddenly after more than 100 years of the creation of Khalsa, it becomes a Kakaar. 4. Kesh are a very important component in spiritual progress. Kesh are important in Hinduism too. Cutting of Kesh was considered a punishment, worse than death during the earlier yugs. Ask your mother, how come all Devi/Devtay have hair? Why do many Hindu yogis and sadhus have uncut hair? The following link is a video by a HINDU yogi regarding hair. Show it to her. Ask your mother, how come idol worship is so prevalent among Hindus while the Vedas reject idol worship? Ask your mother, how come no Hindu Pundit was able to defy the supremacy of the WAHEGURU mantar? (There was a SIKH pundit who did 500 meanings of the mantar, WAHEGURU and proved its superiority over all other Hindu mantars) Ask your mother, how come Bhagwaan Ved Vyaas jee had predicted the coming of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak dev jee Maharaaj thousands of years ago? Ask your mother, how come Bhagwaan Krishan jee had predicted the coming of Satguru Sri Guru Arjan Dev jee Maharaaj thousands of years ago? Ask your mother, how come a Devi wasn't able to give salvation to Bhagat Namdev jee Maharaaj when she appeared before him? Ask your mother, who saved Hinduism in India? Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur jee Maharaaj. Another fact bro, tenth master (Sri Guru Gobind Singh G Maharaaj) has promised his Sikhs that any Sikh who does not cut his hair (entire body) will never enter hell, no matter how many other sins he/she has committed. This is really a big promise and we should be lucky that we are born in Sikh families. If she still stops you from adopting Sikhism, then you will have a choice to either follow your mother (a human) or the mother of all (Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev jee Maharaaj). You need to remember that your mother will be of no use to you after you die (also cannot protect or be with you at all times in this world too), but Satguru jee is always with you and will protect and cherish you in this world and the next
  5. I said that ONE of the main functions of sexual relationship is to procreate. Obviously, there is more to marriage than just having kids. It has various emotional and psychological advantages. Coming to the topic of friends, in Gurmat, one can only have friends of the same gender. A woman is either like your mother, sister or daughter before marriage. There is no concept of boyfriend/girlfriend or just friend of opposite sex in Sikhism. Therefore, in Gurmat marriage offers a person to interact with the opposite sex which is not possible otherwise. That is why marriage is different than friendship. Don't even compare playing a guitar or skydiving with having sex. Sex destroys man's body. That is why, it is banned in Sikhism. Anything that a person does, which breaks him away from the remembrance of God is not good, but not all will be classified as a sin. For example, having sex for pleasure/doing drugs will be a sin but not playing basketball or skydiving. You are right regarding food. Eating food for pleasure is also a SIN in Gurmat, but eating different kinds of healthy food won't be that bad for your body as sex would be. Kaam is ALL types of sexual desire. Uncontrolled desire is refereed to as TARISHNA in Gurbani. Obviously, if a person does sex with his spouse for pleasure, then he is a victim of Kaam and therefore, all the Gurbani tuks having the word Kaam apply to him. If you start justifying sex for pleasure then some people can also start justifying masturbation. They can say that they do it in a controlled/moderated manner and do not over indulge in it. What will we do then? We cannot change our religion to comply with human weaknesses. Sikhism is great, but it is people like me who are weak. This tuk does not promote sex with your partner at all. This tuk implies that JUST by being celibate, you cannot achieve salvation as there are many more demons to conquer such as anger, attachment, ego, greed, etc. There is also a tuk in Gurbani which says that if by bathing, one could achieve salvation, then frogs would have attained it. Again, if we go by your way of interpretation, then one can say that not bathing is also fine in Sikhism, but it is not. According to Rehat, we are suppose to bath daily and also bath after excretion. Sister, I think you should go ahead and enjoy your married life. These sins such as eating for pleasure or having sex for pleasure with one's spouse are small sins which can be easily forgiven by Satguru jee. We should focus on bigger issues such as lust, anger, attachment, slander, libel, greed, EGO(biggest one), jealousy, hatred, mockery, racism, etc. The main thing we all should remember is NOT to justify our weaknesses by using Gurbani. Like for example, if a person has a bad habit of doing drugs, he should not justify it by using Gurbani, rather he should admit it as his weakness and try to resolve it. Bhul Chuk Maaf. 6. Bro, I feel it is unhygenic to take your precious Kakaars to the washroom as they can be contaminated with filthy hands especially Kirpan and the Kara. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  7. Thanks bro for the information. Kangha is easy to maintain in the Kesh and Kachera can be tied on the leg. Any info on Kara? As you know, while washing a Kara can easily come in the way and be contaminated. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  8. Interesting stuff. Please do let us know, if you figure out more details. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  9. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Is there any lines in Gurbanee or PURATAN Rehatnamay which state that all five Kakaars cannot be removed from the body at any time? I know for sure that Kachera cannot be removed from the body at any time. Both Nanaksar and DDT follow it. But, DDT is very strict on other Kakaars too. I believe that it could be due to their love for Kakaars. I feel extremely uncomfortable taking my Kirpan and Kara to the washroom especially when answering the call of nature. Can someone please clarify with CLEAR references? Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  10. Bro, I think you are at a very high level as compared to a wild animal like me. Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak dev jee Maharaaj.
  11. Singh saab, I don't think being gay or not is within a person's hand. I guess the Hukamnama is saying that don't indulge in a sexual manner with the same sex, which is a bujjar kurehit. If a person is gay by birth, he can be part of the Khalsa Panth as long as refrains from any sexual activity with the same sex. We need to make sure that Gays and Lesbians are not discriminated in Sikhism as the doors of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev jee Maharaaj are open to all. Please do clarify. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  12. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh There is no doubt that in Gurmat, sex for pleasure is a sin. I talked to a Gurmukh from DDT about this matter and he agreed with my opinion. In my opinion, sex for pleasure with wife is a SIN but can be easily forgiven by Satguru jee as Maharaaj understands that Kaam is a very strong force. On the other hand, any other sexual activity with anyone else other than your spouse (belonging to opposite sex) is a cardinal sin. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  13. Bro, I have come across some Sikhs who look down upon Hindi and that is why I started this post. Such people don't realize that Hindi is one of our own languages, used extensively by Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh jee Maharaaj (Braj Bhasha is a dialect of Hindi). Obviously, forcing any language on anyone is against Gurmat. But my point is that Gurmat/Sikhism should not be connected to Punjabi in such a way, so as to portray that Punjabi is the only or main language for us. Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj is unique as it has many languages in it, which all become very dear to Sikhs. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  14. Thanks a lot mate for the information. Also bro, do you know if tenth master has mentioned about gays and lesbians in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib jee? Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  15. Singh Saab, you are right that all languages should be respected, but the ones which are used in Gurbanee such as Punjabi, Sanskrit, Hindi, Persian, Marathi, Urdu, Arabic, etc will obviously be more dear to us than other languages. As you correctly said that Hindi should not be given more reverence than any other language; in the same way Punjabi should also NOT be considered any superior to other languages used by our Satguru. If Satguru wanted, he could have written all Gurbanee in Punjabi, but he did not. For us, our script GURUMUKHI, should be considered the best. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  16. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Hindi is one of the languages used in Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj. It is used a lot in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj (Brij Bhasha is a dialect of Hindi). Punjabi was in use even before the incarnation of God - Satguru Sri Guru Nanak dev jee Maharaaj in Punjab. Punjabi and Gurumukhi are two different terms. Satguru gave us a new script called Gurumukhi. One can write any language in that script. Additionally, Shromani Bhagat Baba Kabeer jee Maharaaj's Gurbanee is in Hindi. Bhagat Jaidev jee Maharaaj's Gurbanee is in Hindi. Bhagat Ramanand jee Maharaaj's Gurbanee is in Hindi. Bhagat Parmanand jee Maharaaj's Gurbanee is in Hindi. Bhagat Soordaas jee Maharaaj's Gurbanee is in Hindi. Bhagat Ravidas jee Maharaaj's Gurbanee is in Hindi. That is why i believe that Hindi should be very dear to Sikhs. I seriously can't believe that some Sikhs seem to hate Hindi. Not only Hindi, but other languages like Urdu, Persain, Arabic, Sindhi, Marathi, etc(the ones used in Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj) should all be respected greatly by Sikhs. Additionally, not all Sikhs are Punjabi (they are majority though). There are Afghan Sikhs (mother tongue - Pashto), Sindhi Sikhs (mother tongue - Sindhi), North Indian Sikhs (mother tongue - Hindi), White Sikhs (mother tongue - English/Spanish), Kashmiri Sikhs (mother tongue - Kashmiri), etc. All these Sikhs have a right to be proud of their mother tongue and speak it proudly at Gurudwaras or anywhere else. Khalsa jee, if I am wrong, please let me know. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  17. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Bro, the reason I said that one of the main functions of sexual relationship is to procreate, is because having sex for PLEASURE is a sin. I know it sounds very strict, but this is Gurmat. A Sikh can have sex with his wife only with the intention of getting a child. Now, sometimes the sexual act will have to be repeated in order to get the wife pregnant. The intention is the key. *On a lighter note, Srimaan Sant Baba Nand Singh jee Maharaaj once told a person that a husband can have sex with his wife, a maximum of once a week. But, he also said that a Sikh should be brave and try to remain unmarried* (Celibate) which according to me indicates that the above statement was possibly made for ordinary people like me. *Reference - Sri Nanaksar Stairs to God Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  18. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh There is no place for gay marriages in Sikhism. One of the most important functions of a sexual relationship is to procreate. You tell me brother, how will two males procreate naturally? Having said the above, there is no discrimination against gay people in Sikhism. The doors of the king (SATGURU SRI GURU NANAK DEV JEE MAHARAAJ) are open to all. Take care. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  19. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Brother, I think we should just focus on the essence of the video, which is the power of Mool Mantar. I do understand your point. Bhai Saab jee could have narrated the incident in a better way, but I don't believe he was being racist in anyway as he is a Gursikh of very high caliber. Also, as humans most of us are prone to error, therefore let's just focus on the positive side. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  20. There is no place for gay marriages in Sikhism. One of the most important functions of marriage is to procreate. You tell me brother, how will two males procreate naturally? 21. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Sister, even according to Nanaksar maryada, women cannot do any sewa in Sachkhand (Bhog, Chaur, etc), perform Kirtan or be part of Panj Pyaray. I will try to find out the reason for it from some scholar. Until that time, you should try to accept these conditions with love and faith as both DDT and Nanaksar trace back their roots to Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh jee maharaaj. Srimaan Sant Baba Nand Singh jee Maharaaj once told some women that there is no need for them to come to him. It would be enough for them to serve their husbands.* Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh *ref - Sri Nanaksar Stairs to God
  22. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Please click on the video link below to listen to the power of Mool Mantar. Another Singh Saab made a post regarding the same. I have pasted it below. Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev jee Maharaaj. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  23. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Has anyone heard any saint or a scholar (belonging to the orthodox sects of Sikhism) explain the origin of the Rakhri festival? By orthodox, I mean Nihangs, Nirmalay, Udhasi, Sevapanthi, etc Thanks. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  24. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Another similar incident mentioned below. Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev jee Maharaaj Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
  25. Waheguru jee kaa Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh jee Maharaaj has said that cutting hair is as sinful as Incest. Can anyone please provide me the source of this information? Here is video link from where I got the information. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7v3BmKSfGM Thanks a lot.
