    @Rock

    You wanted a new post for fear of going off topic.

    Please tell me (and others) by what criteria do we determine if someone we meet on the street is a Sant or not? And how do we think we have any authority to ever make that assumption about someone?

    Check this youtube channel, they have a over 20 part series explaining 'Who is a Sant' from Gurbani in english.  It will answer all your questions.

    I've tried looking for simple texts for people learning to read Gurmukhi. Texts as simple as the below. I tried with Jagdev Singh's bed time stories for kids but they thought the language was too tricky (which it actually is considering it is meant for kids).

    Do you know of any simple short texts I can print out?

    Most of the Udasis and Sevapanthis I've met know next to nothing of Sarbloh Granth never mind having it to do prakash of. A fair few Nirmalay have only a vague knowledge of it too. It is a myth to suggest that traditional study among Nirmalay, Udasis, Sevapanthis includes Sarbloh Granth. I've never heard any of the above suggest Sri Dasam Granth is not the bani of Maharaj.

    these seem to be modern myths, so posting recent articles doesnt prove anything

    anything historical? from the 1700s 1800s ? any language source?

    i am not hell bent upon denying the existence of such an event, but want to be sure of its historical veracity

    Dr. Ganda Singh cites a book called ‘Tarikh a Punjab' as one of the sources that mentions this inccident.  The book is written before 1880.

    Resources are made available through the spoils of war. And his patron was a maharaja.... Hari Singh nalwa had no shortage of funding. Please learn how to be objective. Hari Singh nalwa didn't do anything other Indians haven't done before. Other Indian generals have defeated Afghans in Afghanistan as well and ruled for much longer as well. In terms of realpolitik hari Singh and his king were just visitors in the annals of history. Maharaja ranjit and the Lahore darbar don't even constitute a dynasty as it only lasted for 50 years. Have some shame you unobjective biased fools.

    Bro, do you know of someone who has done Katha of these Charitars?

    Most likely, there are no audio recordings of the complete Katha of Sri Charitropakhian Sahib jee available to us.

    Bhul chuk maaf

    What im trying to say is what is the meaning of this charitar according to puratan sampradas.  Since they claim their interpretation tradition goes back to the Gurus.  There the only ones who would know the full meaning of this charitar.

    The only thing we are doing is guessing and giving our own opinions which holds no weight and authority.

    Can you or someone else call up a traditional gyanie or a sant from one of the traditional sikh schools and ask them what meaning was passed to them from Guru Sahib.
