Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh ji. Dass himself reads just one paath of Sri Shastar Naam Mala. The full length paath has got 5 chapters. As dass recently read them but its really long as it took me 2 weeks almost to finish it.
The best way to do this bani is the first 28 pauris which dass does and heard in katha of gyani thakur singh ji. Also don't do it more than 2 times.
Here is a link with the shudh paath printed of Shastar Naam Mala

Waheguru Ji
Giani Thakur Singh has done entire katha of Guru Granth Sahib Ji for those who want a basic understanding of each tuk without going in too deep of an explanation.
Many people have benefited from these kathas
Since you already do Sukhmani Sahib that will be a good place to start. This katha is from the beginning of Sukhmani Sahib to
Se simrahi jin āp simrāe.
They alone remember Him in meditation, whom He inspires to meditate.
Nānak ṯā kai lāgao pāe. ||3||
Nanak grasps the feet of those humble beings. ||3||
The entire explanation is only 30 minutes. Humble benti to listen to these 30 minutes and share what you think Waheguru
Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh ji Veer Ji. Thanks for posting the link Dass is very thankful for the katha as it was originally Gyani Thakur Singh Ji that i became inspired to do banis like Sukhmani Sahib Ji,Brahm Kavach,Shastar Naam Mala and other countless ones mentioned in the previous posts. There katha had a massive impact on me throughout the years especially since 2014.

This might be helpful for you, gurbani is in roman character and is explained in english. The entire Guru Granth Sahib Ji has been completed like this which you can read on this website http://www.sadhsangat.com/category/banis/sukhmani/
Here is an example
Simrao simar simar sukẖ pāvao. Kal kales ṯan māhi mitāvao.I (simrau) keep in mind/conform to – Naam/Divine virtues and commands, and (simar-i simar-i) conforming it – twice – in thought and deed – I do not commit vices and – (paavau) have (sukh-u) peace. And, (mittavau = erase) remove (kaleys) strife (kal-i) by conflicts present (maah-i) in (tan) the body/life.
Simrao jās bisumbẖar ekai. Nām japaṯ agnaṯ anekai.I (simrau) conform to (jaas-u) glory/virtues of (eykai) the One (bisumbhar = nurturer of universe) Sustainor Almighty.
(Aganat aneykai) countless people (japat) remember/obey (naam-u) Divine commands, i.e. the creatures exist by Naam/Divine commands/laws of nature.
Beḏ purān simriṯ suḏẖākẖyar. Kīne rām nām ik ākẖyar.(Beyd) the Vedas, Puranas and Smritis, i.e. the scriptures are (sudhaakhyar = container of nectar) source of awareness of Naam. They have been (keeney = made) created to teach (ik aakhyar) the one Word, (naam) Divine virtues and commands.
Kinkā ek jis jīa basāvai. Ŧā kī mahimā ganī na āvai. One in whose mind the Creator (basaavai = puts) causes to abide (kinka eyk) one bit of the virtues i.e. one who remembers and imbibes even a bit of Divine virtues,
(Mahima) greatness (ta ki) of that person is (gani na aavai = cannot be counted) beyond measure.
Kāʼnkẖī ekai ḏaras ṯuhāro. Nānak un sang mohi uḏẖāro. ||1||O Creator, those who (kaankhi) long for (daras) vision of (tuhaaro) Yours (eykai = one) only, i.e. those who long to experience Your presence within their minds thinking of none else.
please place me (un sang-i) in their company to (udhaaro = lift) emancipate me from the vices of the world-play, says fifth Nanak. 1.Parabẖ kai simran ṯirath isnānī. Parabẖ kai simran ḏargėh mānī.
People bathe at holy places to purify themselves. One becomes (isnaani) bather at (teerath) holy places, i.e. purifies the inner-self (simran-i) by conformance to commands (kai) of (prabh) the Almighty.
One is (maani) accepted (dargah) Divine court/for union with God, (simran-i) by conformance to commands (kai) of (prabh) the Almighty.
Parabẖ kai simran hoe so bẖalā. Parabẖ kai simran sufal falā.(S-u) that which (hoey) is done (simran-i) by conformance to commands (kai) of (prabh) the Almighty is (bhalaa) good.
One’s actions are (suphal) fruitful by (simaran-i) conformance to commands (kai) of (prabh) the Almighty; as (phalaa = fruit) fulfilment of longing for the Almighty is attained.
Se simrahi jin āp simrāe. Nānak ṯā kai lāgao pāe. ||3||Only (sey) they (simrah-i) remember/conform to Divine commands, (jin) whom the Almighty (aap-i) IT-self (simraaey) causes to conform.
I (laagau) touch (ta kai) their (paaey) feet, i.e. humbly seek guidance from them, says fifth Nanak. 3.

Parabẖ kā simran sabẖ ṯe ūcẖā. Parabẖ kai simran uḏẖre mūcẖā.(Simran-u) conformance to commands (kai) of (prabh) the Almighty is (oochha) higher (tey) than (sabh) all religious practices.
(Moocha = large) multitudes of people (udhrey = lifted) are emancipated from vices (simran-i) by conformance to commands (kai) of (prabh) the Almighty.
Parabẖ kai simran ṯarisnā bujẖai. Parabẖ kai simran sabẖ kicẖẖ sujẖai.

Any progress/update towards this goal?
Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh ji veer ji. I do listen to katha but recently i haven't had much time as i have been really busy my nitnem banis. My current routine is that i usually that before sunset around 2 hours.
I take a bath/shower then start to read these banis in this order nowdays Chandi Di Vaar,Chandi Charitar 1,Bhagauti Astotar,Shastar Naam Mala,Sukhmani Sahib. Then Jap Ji Sahib and Ramkali ki Vaar Satta Balwand once Sukhmani Sahib Ji is finished. I do try to add other banis that i have mentioned previously if i get time.
But now i am gonna start to listen to the katha of these banis as i do need to start to understand the arths of these mahaan banis. So i am thinking about using Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Bhindrawale.

It is only after doing naam Jaap one realises what a gift the gurus have given us. I am not Gursikh as in I have not taken Amrit but this is making me think of doing it and of growing my hair. I am thinking on it.
Waheguru thats amazing veer ji

Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa vaheguru ji ki Fateh.
I was blessed with Amrit a few months ago as I had huge desire for it(genuinely I could not think about anything else apart from Amrit). I enjoyed it for the the first 2 months (kept my proper rehat even waking about at 3am). But slowly slowly I fell into lust and then I started waking up late, couldn’t be bothered to path(even if I did, I wouldn’t enjoy it). I used to go to santhia but even that’s becoming boring to me now. Everything is starting to feel like a chore and all I want is to have that desire of Amrit again.
please tell me what this manmukh should do.
Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh ji Veer Ji first of all dass would like to welcome you to the website.
Veer ji you need to ardas for yourself as since you have taken Amrit its a very good step to make.
Also how old are you? As sometimes similar age group sangat can help.
By the way dass hasn't taken Amrit yet but its ok to do nitnem in the daytime depending on what you are doing.
