Apologize for going a bit off-topic, but it was a good topic to post these.
Bhul chuk maaf

Thanks but I am looking for a physical copy.

Does anyone know where I can get a physical copy? The ones I have found online are not the original Gurbilas but are Sodhi Teja Singh’s. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you speak more to this. Which historical source mentions this?

Note that the numbers were much higher under the Emperor Aurangzeb.

Remember some people even managed to fight their way through the cordon around Chamkaur - like palit puttar Zorowar Singh.
It can not be few thousand. They had sent 10,000 who were defeated earlier. Guru Ji described Chamkaur as countless. It must a whole lot more than what the Sikhs had faced before. Bhai Vir Singh says you couldn’t get 12 - 14 miles of Chamkaur thanks to not just the soldiers but the amount of civilians who joined them. That is 19 - 22 KM. To me it doesn’t seem like a few thousand.

The following is a translation of comments by Bhai Vir Singh ji on this subject (Shri Kalgidhar Chamatkar, Volume 1, Page 92):
"The term 'Deh Lak' (Ten Lakh or a million) [in Zafarnama] probably signifies 'countless'. In the same Zafarnama, the Guru has used the term 'Be Shumar' (countless) in another stanza. But if one were to place an estimate to represent 'countless', they will probably not fall much short [of a million]. You have to take into account that siege of Anandpur Shaib included forces of Governers of Sirhind and Lahore. It also included soldiers of Bai Dhar Kings. In addition there were non-regular soldiers of Bai Dhar Kings which used to be called 'Chhera or Vaheer'. Then there was the army marching from Delhi which joined others at Chamkaur Sahib. The royal armies also attracted 'Vaheer' as they marched. Then there was 'Mulkhaya (general mob)' which started gathering for looting. The news that Anandpur had fallen was attracting mobs from far and away to loot the escaping inhabitants of Anandpur Sahib. The famous Sikh Ragi Bhai Heera Singh ji (1879-1926) used to talk about a Muslim man who was part of 'Mulkhaya'. The Muslim man claimed that he could not get any closer than 12 to 14 miles of Chamkaur Sahib because of all the armies, 'Vaheer' and 'Mulkhaya' in the area. Once you think about the aforementioned, its easy to accept the number 'Deh Lak' (million)".I didn’t write this up but the point still stands. Who are we to doubt Bhai Vir Singh. Sure it might not be Das Lakh but it sure as hell was close.

Less then 10,000 wouldn’t make sense as in the First Battle of Anandpur according to Macauliffe the Subehdar of Delhi under instructions of Aurangzeb dispatched an army of 10,000 under two generals. Painde Khan and Din Beg. Later the army of the Hill Rajas joined them who must have also been in the thousands.

Hmm. I came back to this post for this image and if I understand correctly this is Aurangzeb who has sent 700 Calvary and some artillery. The letter is addressed to Wazir Khan so we have no ideas how many soldiers came from Sirhand and the soldiers from the Hindu Raja plus Lahore Subha and maybe other Subhas. Probably not 1,000,000 but it must be way larger then 700.

@shastarSingh - Is the above true?
Bhul chuk maaf
Why should we worship some manifestation of Akal instead of the full form of Akal. That is assuming what you said is true. I have not seen Gurbani support the above claim at all. Sant Jarnail Singh (I think it was) says that in Chandi Di Var Guru Ji is worshipping the Kirpan I.e shastar not any Devi.

Even the AKJ helped in the 80s and 70s against Nirankari. Sant Jarnail Singh never like some modern Sikh called their rehat out. He knew the most important thing was Panthic unity. Baba Nihal Singh was the only Nihang I know of who supported Sant Ji. All the other Nihangs turned their back.

Soon some fake Santa will convince people that Hitler was a Saint and we should follow him. Don’t believe everything you here. The Panth will be doomed if we just blindly follow anything without thinking logically.

True but at least Taksal went strong and some of the panth in the 80s.

Nihangs have 300 years of experience and Dasam Granth Bir Rass. Why aren't they helping end the Ukraine Russia war?
No offence but when is the last time you have seen the Dal (Not a few Nihangs the whole Dal) do something to help the panth. They didn’t help during 1984. They didn’t fight the British. Heck the Namdharis were so popular because they gave Amrit for free while you had to pay Nihangs to get amrit. They have so much internal fighting over leadership. I know some Nihangs and I see them just drinking so much bhang and whatever your opinion on it may be there is a limit that Nihangs cross. I hear Nihangs worship Durga and not like as an aspect of God or something but as a supreme deti. The Nihangs aren’t what they used to be. By the start of the 20th century most Nihangs became for the show and were not at all warriors.

I have created a new post on reddit. since I don't really have time to moderate on reddit, I have just posted links to this forum. This way people on reddit can view the topics and at the same they can click on links to view the threads on sikhawareness site.
This is how it looks, I don't really have much time to edit the posts properly, but any suggestions let me know.

I am reading bani in gurmukhi but it takes too long. Japji Sahib took an hour and I died during Jaap Sahib. How can I improve my reading speed? Should I listen to the bani and follow along in a gutka?
