Alabama plans to carry out the first execution by nitrogen gas today

    Atmore, Alabama CNN —

Alabama is poised to carry out the first known execution using nitrogen gas Thursday to put Kenneth Smith to death for his role in a 1988 murder for hire.

Smith, who survived the state’s initial attempt to execute him by lethal injection in 2022, is tentatively set to die Thursday evening as the state endeavors to use a wholly new method of execution some experts are concerned could cause him to experience excessive pain or a torturous death.

Little is known about how the method, known as nitrogen hypoxia, will be carried out because the state’s published protocol bears redactions experts say shield key details from public scrutiny. The state, in court records, indicated the redactions were made to maintain security and it believes death by nitrogen gas to be “perhaps the most humane method of execution ever devised

    ....

Smith’s jury voted 11-1 for life sentence

Smith was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Elizabeth Sennett, whose husband, Charles, was having an affair and had taken out an insurance policy on his wife, according to court records.

Charles Sennett recruited a man who recruited two others, including Smith, and agreed to pay each $1,000 to kill his wife and make it look like she died in a burglary, the records show. The men carried out the killing as planned in March 1988, and Smith took from the Sennett home a VCR player that he stored in his own home.

Charles Sennett killed himself a week after the murder, records state, as the investigation’s focus turned to him. Smith was ultimately arrested after authorities, based on an anonymous tip, searched his home and found the VCR player.

Smith was convicted and sentenced to die, but an appeals court overturned the initial outcome and ordered a new trial. He was again convicted in the retrial, but this time his jury voted 11-1 for a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The judge in Smith’s second trial, however, essentially vetoed the jury’s vote and sentenced the defendant to death – a practice known as judicial override that’s since been repealed in Alabama.

CNN’s Devan Cole, Chris Youd, Olivia LaBorde and Jamiel Lynch contributed to this report.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji,

I hope all is well, I wish to discuss an ongoing case that the Police have against me for me wearing my kirpaan,

Das was initiated into the Khalsa Panth in June 2022, and from then until December 2022 upheld my Rehat as much as I could all thanks to Guru Kirpa, I was travelling to Canada when I was stuck in transit overnight at Las Vegas Airport; I was without food and drink for more than a day and had a few flight connections cancel on me - Thankfully I still had my 5 Kakaars on. On the 29th December 2022 I was told to remove my Shri Sahib Kirpaan by the TSA in order to travel through security but told the TSA that I am unable to due to me being an Amritdhaari Khalsa Sikh and it would have a negative impact on me due to me never being without it, I had no other option but to listen to them. To this day I do not know whether I was still classed as an Amritdhaari Khalsa Sikh due to me taking my Shri Sahib Kirpaan off. When I finally got to Canada I still did my best to uphold my Rehat but there came a time some months later where I started giving into my vices, where I noticed that I had never gave into them for nearly more than 2 years. I was new to Canada and was lost and me giving into my vices started giving me the notion that I have become a Patit due to me being stuck around bad company and me being mislead about some things that are prohibited for the Khalsa. I never thought that I would be committing any Bajjar Kurehat due to me being so strong in my Rehat when I was in the U.K. 9 Months in Canada and I came back to the U.K, acknowledging that what I had been doing was a huge offence to my Rehat, but had been doing my best to uphold my Rehat and becoming strong in Sikhi again. I started doing more Sangat, doing ardas and apologising for my bad deeds I had committed, I started wearing my 5 Kakkars again and told myself that I will present myself to the Panj Pyaare once I have become stronger in Sikhi and in upholding my Rehat; Sikhi has been my only help when it comes to my mental health, which I have been having troubles with since a child (possible PTSD, Autism issues). One Amrit Vela Session in the Sangat and I was later arrested, basically - I listen to my music with earphones on when in public, and whilst on the train that morning I was reading the newspaper out loud where someone near me must have misinterpreted what I had been speaking about, I also read somewhere about the U.K Threat Level (I was disturbed by this), also when the Police approached me, they questioned me about my behaviour, and about the wearing of my Shri Sahib Kirpaan, where I told them that I had been initiated as an Amritdhaari and need to wear my 5Ks to aid in keeping strong in my faith, but due to me making some deep mistakes (I had to clarify these in the police station) I am still doing my best to return to my faith. I was handed over to the police station where I was stuck for 14 hours; I have attached a document stating everything that happened to me on that day - please find attached. I have now until end of February and wished to speak to someone who may be able to help me here; I already have ongoing legal support but wished to clarify this to the Sangat on this site.

I do apologise for my mistakes, and I know that what I have done to my Rehat is the worst of worst, and will welcome any punishment that I will receive from the Panj Pyaare when I present myself.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who may be able to help me,

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji,

We have $2 and $1 coins. I carry about four $2s and couple of $1s at least. I never go around using bank card for transactions less than $20. Tea or coffee is about $2 to start. So, I'd feel guilty giving less. If a homeless is stood outside coffee shop or fast food place, I sometimes ask what they'd like and buy them food and drink if I have time. In some areas downtown, many people traveling to work will buy extra coffee or tea for the needy after asking their request. Seeing this is what gave me the idea of buying them food or drink instead of money.

Only person that doesn't help is an alcoholic going to die of DTs.

I understand the sentiment though brother.

    Hey everyone,

So as the title suggest, I would just like to know what is Sahansar Nama?

I discovered this bani on this YouTube Channel called "Sikh Parchar WorldWide"

The description did not clear my ignorance on this bani. So, I hope y'all can help me.

Here is the link to the video. They have a really nice video selection of bani's and videos related to topics such as 5K's which I know have been discussed here.

    Sahansar Nama

    Where's the video hosted?

    Oh YouTube.

  7. I had a reminder of something today 100% of smartphone companies are owned by the Masonic order and I have even had Masons at my job repeating things to me from my private messages on my phone so add them to the list of people that absolutely have as much or more access to your phone than you.

And to reiterate what I said in my other message it is not worth going against these people till the end.

  8. The United States is a Masonic country although when I was born I did not realize it.

I've always been conflicted about the Masons, I grew up around Masons, many of my friends and extended family members have connections to lodges, by and large they're all lovely people and I can't think of a Mason that I know that I don't have love for.

I previously wrote some negative things about Masonic orders that I still believe to be partially true.  I still encourage Sikhs to not join Masonic orders we have our own order.

Ultimately two things will prevent me speaking against Masonic orders in the future. My love for the individuals, and the shere power they wield in technology, government, and society.

To those I know can hear me. Live and let live.

I will not be quiet however about zionist terror. Y'all must disavow that. Or forfeit your souls.

I think critique of Vedas and Devte would be more as that was culturally relevant whereas Christianity was not really present at that time in Indian culture

If Sikhi was earthly maybe. Guru Saibhan are Ajooni or became Ajooni. That's a universal commentary. Guru Nanak Dev Ji went and dressed down the Pope.

You or I may be ignorant or have cultural bias but Guru Saibhan deal in Truth period.

The sellers profit from supplying it repeatedly to same clients, so why are they making it a deadly product ?.

Greed. All sorts of cheap shit including fentanyl that makes it addictive and feel "good". Even an experienced person could not notice. It took God showing me and a bad batch to make it obvious.

You can sell bad weed for good weed prices.

They think if they dose it just right nobody will ever know.

I'm not sure if any actors are involved but this is a very weird and big deal.

  11. Unfortunately friends, tip of the hat to those who abstain in this case, things have changed entirely.

After countless thousands of years.... countless. They've done ....up the weed entirely.

You can no longer use any cannabis that is not state or federally regulated.

It is increasingly. LETHAL. DEADLY. DESECRATED. LACED. GARBAGE. IT IS NOT JUST FENTANYL IN THE HERB. WHICH IS ENOUGH. GAME OVER RIGHT THRrrrrrrrE.  IT IS ALL SORTS OF UNGODLY POISONS. Triple game over people. Game. Over.

DO NOT USE ANY CANNABIS, MUSHROOMS, ANY OF THAT ALREADY DEADLY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE FAMILY OF HARD DRUGS, AN ASPRIN...SHOOT

UNLESS YOU GROW IT YOURSELF, OR BUY IT REGULATED OVER THE COUNTER THERE IS NO LONGER ANY SAFE THING TO TAKE. NOT A DISCO BISCUIT, NOT FRUITY PEBBLE. NOT A PIECE OF GUM.

    NOTHING.

IT IS ALL DEADLY AS SIN.

EVERYONE IS DYING. NEAR MISSING.  IT'S GAME OVER.
