  1. I have thought a lot about this and always end up on what Guru Sahib said and did. One thing is very clear that he did not consider women lowly as he says "So kyu manda akhiyai jit jamme raajan". "Ek noor te sab jag upajeya kaun bhale kau mande" Mata Sahib Kaur Ji - The mother of khalsa - played an important part in preparing Amrit. She was not stopped by Guru sahib. No women took amrit that day - all were men, true - but citing that the panth doesn't stop Amrit Sanchar to women. Only takes away their right to be one of the panj pyare. Many verses in Guru Granth Sahib ji refer to all human kind as women and only waheguru as purakh. In Guru's mind the physical gender of the beings here on earth doesn't seem to make any difference, all are seen as women. So how can men consider themselves better. Sikh women deserve to be treated better for all the sacrifices they have made. This tradition feels like another form of casteism. To the point that women Kirtaniyas are not allowed to perform kirtan in Sri Harmandir Sahib citing "Maryada".. all the while they recite so kyu manda akhiye every day... Women are not considered worthy of being receiver of first five parts of deg. Any man will do, he could be a drunk, a violent person but just being man he is better than all the women. I don't accept it. This is all us.
