  6. The International Cricket Council is leaving London for the first time since it was created in 1909. The entire Council will move to Dubai in August, with the staff dealing with on-field issues leaving Lord's, while the financial department will move from their existing base in Monaco. The executive body of the ICC voted on potential locations last year, having decided to leave Lord's for financial reasons. The MCC tried to persuade the Council to stay but they decide to emulate rugby union and athletics by moving their global headquarters out of the United Kingdom. ICC president Ehsan Mani said: "Clearly, cricket's deep association with England and particularly Lord's as the historic home of the sport was a factor that weighed heavily in the board's discussions on this matter. Nevertheless, like many international governing bodies before us, it is clear that operating in the United Kingdom under the current system is not in the best interests of our members. "I would like to thank the MCC for its role in running and then hosting the ICC over the past 96 years. This support will be recognised in a more appropriate way at a suitable time and we will continue to work closely with an organisation that remains the guardian of the laws of the game."

  10. the question posed by this thread requires contemplation and thought. after thinking much about what has been written, a thuk from baani spoke out to me: Jin Prem Kiyo Tin Hi Prabh Paayo Pure Love Leads to God Guru Gobind Singh Ji I thought more closely about what this meant and how it refered to the situation. Love, what is it? Love, is but just a word. As powerful as it may mean to many, it is a word that describes a connection. The media of this connection is divine signals, sent to/from the divine. Morpheous, here I disagree with you, I believe that inorder to have a more informed opinion, Hardeep_Singh has correctly delved into an area that this thread has missed. Apart from the biological importance, hair, acts as an ariel and are the receptors to the signals sent by the divine. They present a person with the ability to make a connection and expand their auora to effect not only their lives but the lives of people who come across them. If as a Sikh you are to progress through a spiritual journey, the need for hair is of importance. The sacrifices made by the Guru's, their families and followers are all self-testiment to this. The mysticism of Sikhi has to be believed: Seeing without eyes, hearing without ears, walking without feet, chanting His name without tongue and dying without living is accepting Gods will. (Guru Arjan Dev Ji) If you do not believe how can you see, hear, walk, etc? But the question of a mona being called a Sikh is to question the balance between form and formless. Is form required? By Rehat - Yes - but this is for an initiated Sikh. But that is not the end. Formless makes the balance and here form is not required for all. Waheguru is formless, a bit of Waheguru (as a I believe it) is in each and everyone of us. The formless connection possessd by individuals who are not Keshdarhi can be far greater than someone who is. That does not mean to say it is right for all. But who it is and isnt right for is for none of us to say. Only Guru can show us the way. A Sikh = Universal = Human (+ others) = Learner. Everyone is a Sikh. Whether Munn Sikh (follower of ego) or Gur Sikh (follower of Guru), everyone is a Sikh. By Universal, Sikhi is not an exclusive club, it is for everyone. Let us not turn our backs to anyone, exemplified by the Humanity shown by Bhai Ghanaya. I have been in the company of Monay who share the wealth of their energies far more than Keshdarhi Sikhs, both whilst in Naam simran, Nishkam Sewa and in general discussion and conversation, however they do indulge activities that maybe seem to be coming off the path (im still talkin bout the same ppl, not generalising) and this is where Rehat can be effective. If you live each day as if it is your last on this Earth, would you live it differently? - this is the perspective of one who follows the Rehat. I do not disrespect you if you cut your hair. I do not disrespect if you call yourself a Sikh or any other religion you please. If you wish to build a nation, you must first build foundations. It is about quality and not quantity. Everyone has the right to make a choice, though, with the responsibility of choice comes its consequence.

  14. there's a good article on this on: http://sify.com/sports/hockey/fullstory.php?id=13629682 but ur rite... hockey is a game that is on the decline!! and its true to say that about hockey played by Asians in western countries too!! the thing is in places like the UK, although the availability of pitches is not a problem, the culture of drinking before a match, during a match and then after a match (trust me i used to play hockey!!) means that Asian/Indian teams dont fair too well!! Like any sport u need to have love and heart for it! dont get me wrong there have been a few successful indian teams, but most generally, the embedded culture of lazzyness has taken its toll! Physical fitness and dedication towards the 'team' cause have been called into question plenty of times!.. its the same about Indian cricketers wen they field - jus too lazy!!.. there are a lot of fantastic young hockey players, who could dribble round players in a second, but the game has moved on... fast artificial pitches mean that such skills come second to pass and move tactics used well by the English, Germans and Dutch teams... As to the success of India... how many astro pitches are there in the pindh? - grass hockey is slow - clay hockey is dirty if the asian teams are to start doing well as they were in the past... they do need support from their Govts. Abroad, they need support from their family - hockey isnt a cheap sport -and most definately their friends to participate and train. if u got any mates that play hockey spur them on!! ..........its the sport of legends!

  21. Premiership footballer Jermaine Pennant has been jailed for three months for drink-driving while banned from the road. The 22-year-old midfielder, who is on loan from Arsenal at Birmingham City, has also been disqualified from driving for three years. And Pennant has been denied bail because the Crown Court is to hear the appeal against sentence quickly. Last month the Premiership midfielder pleaded guilty to charges of drink-driving, driving while disqualified and using a vehicle without insurance. He was arrested in January after he was spotted in a car park in Aylesbury driving a Mercedes with a lamp post dragging beneath it. When sentencing the former England Under-21 star at Aylesbury Magistrates' Court, chairman of magistrates John Jakobi told him there was no reasonable excuse for the journey. Birmingham City will now discuss Pennant's future with his club Arsenal and the St Andrews club's website said: "We are extremely disappointed with the news that Jermaine Pennant has been given a custodial sentence. We will now be speaking to Arsenal about the future of their player."
