Our Guru Granth Sahib begins with Ek Onkaar, God is One, which I strongly believe. Why Muslims eat halal meat or Christians eat different meats? Even Jesus served lamb (apologies if I am wrong). What might be the reason for this difference?
You need to look at this shabad in Adi Guru Granth Sahib Ang page 1289
I will highlight some parts where Guru Nanak shows that Purana and Kiteb (abrahamic texts Bible/Quran/Torah etc) allow meat!
This is the start of the shabad page 1289
Quote
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:
Mās mās kar mūrakẖ jẖagṛe gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān nahī jāṇai.
The fools argue about flesh and meat, but they know nothing about meditation and spiritual wisdom.
Ka▫uṇ mās ka▫uṇ sāg kahāvai kis mėh pāp samāṇe.
What is called meat, and what is called green vegetables? What leads to sin?Next, Guru ji explains about the devte eating Rhinoceros regularly.
Gaiʼndā mār hom jag kī▫e ḏeviṯi▫ā kī bāṇe.
It was the habit of the gods to kill the rhinoceros, and make a feast of the burnt offering.
Mās cẖẖod bais nak pakṛėh rāṯī māṇas kẖāṇe.
Those who renounce meat, and hold their noses when sitting near it, devour men at night.
Faṛ kar lokāʼn no ḏikẖlāvahi gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān nahī sūjẖai.
They practice hypocrisy, and make a show before other people, but they do not understand anything about meditation or spiritual wisdom.
O Nanak, what can be said to the blind people? They cannot answer, or even understand what is said.

They are produced from the blood of their mothers and fathers, but they do not eat fish or meat.
Isṯarī purkẖai jāʼn nis melā othai manḏẖ kamāhī.
But when men and women meet in the night, they come together in the flesh.

Māsahu nimme māsahu jamme ham māsai ke bẖāʼnde.
In the flesh we are conceived, and in the flesh we are born; we are vessels of flesh.
Gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān kacẖẖ sūjẖai nāhī cẖaṯur kahāvai pāʼnde.
You know nothing of spiritual wisdom and meditation, even though you call yourself clever, O religious scholar.

O master, you believe that flesh on the outside is bad, but the flesh of those in your own home is good.
Jī▫a janṯ sabẖ māsahu ho▫e jī▫e la▫i▫ā vāserā.
All beings and creatures are flesh; the soul has taken up its home in the flesh.
Abẖakẖ bẖakẖėh bẖakẖ ṯaj cẖẖodėh anḏẖ gurū jin kerā.
They eat the uneatable; they reject and abandon what they could eat. They have a teacher who is blind.

@KIRNY25 did you even visit the forum after posting?
I just don't understand why it's hard for sikh women to keep their hair, when just a few decades ago most sikh women did keep their hair even if they were married to mona men. Actually a few decades ago, most sikh families saw it as freaky for women to cut their hair.

You know what would be good, is if we had a forum where the visitors had a big hand in shaping the content. Like what are the majority of young apnay interested in?

ok I am also creating a separate subreddit forum for uk sikhs, I will make a separate thread to poll for a name.

today, when I was listening to Tav Prasad Swaiye with my eyes closed sitting in lotus position, I had this weird sensation on the top back of my head (is that where dasam duar is?)
IF felt a bit like when an aeroplane is changing levels, it also made me feel a bit sick (I get sick on aeroplanes when changing levels) which was making it difficult to concentrate...

Started a subreddit for sikhawareness a while back.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sikhawareness
Since I don't really have the time, I really need some members to help me out.
So the aim of the subreddit is to showcase content from Sikh Awareness onto Reddit. Reddit just has so many members globally, so it's an excellent place to learn about sikhi.
Please let me know whoever can help, I am also available on Reddit with the same username as here.
Also let me know if anyone has ideas on contributing to a subreddit for uk sikhs, I think there is one needed urgently!

Also, right next to Sikhism it says "BAPTISM" that also needs to change.
Do you think Taksal or other Sampradi should have already written and done research on this topic, on how to best translate Gurmat Terminology into English.
They should have compiled a list of the most common words in Gurmat and there equivalent in English, so there will be no distortion. Why, do you think they have not done this already?
Maybe replace Baptism with Initiation.
OR perhaps just combine Amrit / Baptism into Pahul - Amrit on it's own does not really make it clear if it's physical Amrit or spiritual Amrit.

Veer ji you are 100% true and i agree with you. I have seen myself people doing panj pyare sewa and attending party halls with meat & alcohol being served.
So its really hard to understand who is following correct marayda nowdays.
so what if the panj pyararay sewak practises jhatka maryada but then goes to a place where meat is served??????

This is the best thing i have read today veer ji. I want to start now as i am getting bored of english language lol especially when i see punjabi written stuff vs english is not as nice.
you definitely should, it will change your whole perspective.
The more you learn gurmukhi, the more you will see how illogical and unedcuated the way spellings are done for English language, they don't even make full use of the resources of symbols and characters to spell, that's how dumbed down and unintelligible it is!
-
yes. maybe we should post resources like smartphone apps and Youtube videos, etc...

That's a great idea. I think given weapon restrictions in the UK, this could be more easily implemented in the US and Canada.
no, most of this stuff is already done in the uk.
There are archery clubs for public to join. There are shooting ranges that just need some kind of form to fill, no need for ownership of any guns.
we could have gurdwaras as the bases for promoting such activities.

Does anyone know where this website and material has gone ? Literally seems to have gone AWOL...
They seemed to have moved to Facebook and changed their ethos.
They are now no longer Budha Dal centric and seem to now be looking at sikh panth from a non-Nihang angle.

if we could revive our traditions, and have groups of Singhs going hunting, and practising shastar such as going to the shooting range, or archery ranges, or going horse riding, also learning wrestling etc etc ... if we could do this then many sikhs may not go to the route of needing to go into these gangs
-
so who will be the new jathedaar of the baba Surjit Singh lineage?
Was the accident part of a conspiracy?
-
I just found out it is illegal to hunt anything in India.
So how does one practise shikkar in India?

exactly, we need to follow grihast jeevan which requires to get a life partner at a decent age ie marry young. This was promoted by Guru Nanak and is an important part of sikhi!
And since we no longer respect this, our community is falling under th 5 vikaar/panj chorr.

a Singh also requires sanjam kiriya, do bethaka (squats) and pressups (dand).
this will help in sitting in asan.
-
are you also ready to train with shastar as well?
nitnem is important even for sehajdhari sikh, but for one who takes khanda dee pahul, shastar pooja via shastar training is Guru hukam.
-
Read Chandi Di Vaar in your nitnem, also maybe Ugardanti and Shastar Mala.
If you concentrate on the battle in Chandi di Vaar you can expel you anger during the paat

Yes Gangsar and Dera Baba Wadbhag Singh are still under the Sodhis. I wil share Painde Khan's funeral place in another topic.
There are many historical places around Kartarpur. Far more than I knew of.
Were you born there @ipledgeblue ?
no my ancestral pend is around Kartarpur.
-
I think we need to start with the sehajdhari sampradaiye such as udasi, sewapanthi, some nirmala, Nanakpanthi, NanakShahi, singh sikhs.
These sikhs are more able to influence hindus than the current brand of mainstream sikhs.

photos I took of the historic Gurdwara Thamm Sahib.
The Thamm that Guru Arjan Dev Ji built was destroyed by the Moghals in 1740s (i think) but the gurdwara was rebuilt again by Dal Panth. This used to belong to the Sodhis of Kartarpur under Baba Wadhbhag Singh but he gave it over to the Guru Khalsa Panth after Moghals took it over. There is nothing surviving from Guru Sahib's personal possessions here though.
My Guru blessed my eyes and heart with a visit to this sacredplace. I didn't know there was so much history to Kartarpur. There are many other historic Gurdwaras here in close proximity inc where Guru Teg Bahadur was married to Mata Gujari, the chabucha of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the antim sanskar place of Mata Kaulan etc. I will put those up soon as well.
Parts of the Qila (fortress) that Guru Sahib built is still there. It is under the control of the Sodhis of Kartarpur still.
These are my ends lol
There's also Gangsar gurdwara which is next to Baba Wadhbhag;s ?Gurdwara?, at least I think it's a gurdwara.
I think there's alsoa place somewhere nearby related to Painde Khan.
God is one, basic principles are same among all religions , then why some religions (Christian , Muslim etc.) allow to eat meat?
