  1. It is said that beings often migrate to where they can find sustenance or 'kharaak' ie dana-pani.

ShivJi Maharaj is seen as consuming bhang (cannabis).

On my recent trip what I realised was where I was living in Nawanshar area there is an absolute abundence of Cannabis plants. Not having seen such a plant before I didnt recognise it before; but its literally everywhere you look. Just growing on the roadsides, bushes and bushes of them , upto 6ft tall, growing next to houses on mounds of earth, lining the streets on both sides just like you find weeds or grass in the UK!!!!!

That ShivJi's karaak is Bhang; I have come to the conclusion that ShivJi must reside in Nawanshar as that is where it grows naturally!!!

    Nawanshahr in Panjab is Shiv-Puri!!!!!

    Har Har Mahadev!!!

  2. Another thing i've noticed about the memorial gurdwara is that it is tucked away in a corner. From what a could gather is that even when walking round the whole complex it would be very easy to miss the building. Facing towards the Akal Takt, it is situated behind Guru Teg Bahadurs gurdwara, on the right hand side. You actually have to leave the complex by the stairs to get to the gurdwara.

The term OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND is conjured up! A convenient compromise between those who wanted a memorial and those against it!

  3. A few sample pics from this summer trip to Pb.

post-2934-0-69609000-1342000484_thumb.jp POV image from the Darshani Deori. This is the perspective with the new sun shade installed.

post-2934-0-48251400-1342000570_thumb.jp Pics of the tasty fish in Harimandir Sarovar. I beleive they may be Carp variety, anyone confirm?

post-2934-0-50444900-1342000832_thumb.jp Another close up image of the newly installed sun shade.

post-2934-0-06073400-1342000878_thumb.jp Scene of the Op Bluestar memorial gurdwara. As of about last week the bulidings foundations were laid. Anyone see the irony, that of the heavy machinries that are provided by a Namdhari company?

  4. Now I like David Starkey, he makes some good documentries.

But I'm not happy that he says the 'Rochdale sex gang had values entrenched in the foothills of Panjab'.

That would mean that Hindu and Sikh communities would be doing the same stuff as these (presumably) Mirpuri Musle.

  5. Sometimes if you have dandruff it is a sign of Yeast infection, you may also be having other (feminine) symptoms.

The ideal way to sort this out is a dietary change. Remove, simple carbs/sugar from the diet, limit starchy carbs, saturated fat. In other words load up on fresh fruit and veg - not the dried or frozen variety either.

Speak to a qualified naturopath for more details.

Also what Matheen said. Natural yogurt will balance out the acid/alkaline ph thingy. Natural yogurt is also used to treat thrush/candida which I understand to be similar to dandruff.

Take a high quality pre/probiotic. not the sugary rubbish you get from your supermarket, rather the high grade stuff. I'd recommend http://www.protexin....120-capsules/16.

Hope that helps, but do speak to a Naturopath for the best advice. If/when you are in birmingham/midlands i know of a naturopath based in Halesowen. Otherwise, just check out your local guys, as it may require a few appointments over a period of time.

  6. Try Tea Tree essential oil mixed with Almond Oil (or any other base oil that you prefer) .

Ratio of 1:20. several times a week. You may also want to add some lavender oil to it as well.

But before you diagnose it as dandruff, simply try washing your hair every other day with shampoo for a couple of weeks. If it clears, then it wasn't dandruff, rather your hair needed a 'deep clean'. If it still persists then try the above.

  7. interesting, next question would be.. where did these 'more than one type' come from?

From a philosophical POV one can say that tey came from our elders, the sayane pursh. Amrit has been here in different forms from the dawn of mankind. The Khanda Pahul is just one of many.

As Dalsingh mentioned its not there to replace but to supplant.

I believe there maybe a few variations of this, ie some use a kirpan others dont - though I've never heard of a khanda being used, that is only for Khanda Pahul. SOme will recite Japji, other Sukhmani or Anand Sahib; yet others may even recite Durga Path. It all depends on ones individual taste.

At the end of the day it is a ritual that a group of like-minded people developed to unify themselves as peers and specifically in this case to enjoin the newer generation to ones beliefset.

  8. Dont be too shocked!!

This is a form of baptism I've heard of in the past for new born babies. A sort of birth ceremony. it is sometimes done by dripping the amrit into the babies mouth with thetip of the kirpan.

I dont think many babies have this done (I cant remember it happening to me; though it was quite a long time ago).

BTW there more than one type of amrit ceremony than you are aware of.

  9. If you go to Amritsar there are TWO Udasin Akharas right on the door steps of Harmandir Sahib. Very few people are aware of these places.

Dalejeet and Tirath Singh both work together from what I gather, or at least are in contact with each other. If you have the details of one you may be able to contact the other.

    Or just pm me.

I've never known of Udasi deras/gurdwaras in the west. (Though someone here did once mention of an ancient dera in St Petersburg in Russia, it used to exist in the past!!!)

  10. Not having read the article by the Ravidassias it just seems they what to 'big up' their Guru. Mmost minority sikh groups have and will make simialr claims.

The evolution from Brami - Sharada - Landa - Gurmukhi seems the most reasonable explanation.

I think what would really help is to know when and how the term GURMUKHI came about. Was it when the gurus adopted this script for writing bani or did it come earlier/later?

  11. http://punjabiworld.com/news/Creative-Punjab/gurmukhi.html

Heres an article about the origins of the Gurmukhi script. Its states that the gurus did not invent the script, rather they standardised it.

"The traditional accounts, such as the references found in the Janamsakhi literature, say that the Gurmukhi script was invented by the second Sikh Guru, Guru Angad Dev. However, it would be correct to say that the script was standardised, rather than invented, by the Sikh Gurus. E.P. Newton (Panjabi Grammar, 1898) writes that at least 21 Gurmukhi characters are found in ancient manuscripts: 6 from 10th century, 12 from 3rd century BC and 3 from 5th century BC. Apparently, the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev also used the Gurmukhi script for his writings."

  12. I read that article, but am intrigued as to why these monsoon floods still happen today and very regularly as well, as to why the Harrappanns upped sticks and fled eastwards so quickly.

From what i gather it amy not have been just the monsoons. I think the drying up of the Saraswati River had the biggest impact. (Though I cant exactly recall if the SR went anywhere near the present Harrapan settlements.)
