I agree lalleshvari..they are (ive never seen it happen) HOWEVER there are plenty of cases of racism..and beast paji, i know where ur coming from..maybe my first post gave the wrong impression of my point (sounded a little dreamy) BUT are u telling me theres never been a situation where a nihang couldve got involved in? and then consequently done something about it?? Im not talking about the general sikh panth..im talking about ur fauge brothers..those who dedicate their lives to uprooting evil like our master guru gobind singh ji..where are they?? surely their weapon is the shastar, not the books; if it were the latter then why the need to live the maryada of a nihang??

Gurfateh, this isnt a stab in the back, for all gursikhs are my brothers. Just a question of curiousity; since nihangs are the warriors of the panth, and to an extent, the true khalsa, and since they are all learned in shastar and extremely skillfull on the battlefield (not to mention the use of sukha for healing wounds) have they ever faced conflict?? What i mean to say is, there is so many problems in the uk with regards to sikh boys being bullied by racists; and gurls being led astray/converted FORCEFULLY; where are our nihang brothers when we need them? Wimps like me cant do anything..so where are u my brothers?? I for one have never hurd of a situation, on the news, on the street, word of mouth,etc where a nihang has displayed bravery or used his skills in the defence of someone/group of people. We need these warriors to prowl in the uk so that any opressors to human freedom and freedom of worship/belief can be uprooted. Not a criticism..just my humble input..feel free to criticise this particle of dust (or add constructive imput)

I need some advice..deep advice..please..dnt laugh at these points; instead (for sake of clarification) give ur personal views backed by bani. Many thanks in advance; waheguru! I want to take amrit this year but theres a few things holding me bacl: 1)i do not rise early and repeat gods name 2)im aiming for a career in music; spending time in the studio means not thinking of god..isnt this wrong?? (or do we all switch off sometimes?)..and i would be making songs of a pop nature (nothing taboo however) 3)i eat eggs (because i need the protein) 4)i wouldnt be in the habit of wearing all five ks..and wouldnt, ideally, want to go a day without them 5)i would miss paaths sometimes when im busy i.e rehraas or nitnem..which i would then feel bad about 6)i do not know gurmukhi propally..infact its quite poor in reading and writing; speakings not bad Any views on each point?? The rehit we have today is as vaild as dasam granth. The dasam granth was compiled AFTER guru gobind singh jis physical parting with the world; in the same way the rehit was compiled by the panth after he left this material dimension. Dasam granth IS bani; also rehit IS valid and in tune with gurus teachings. If we reject the rehit; then we reject gurbani i.e dasam granth (which we read on a daily basis.) As the panth, guru ji gave us the power to make collective decisions; if the panth DID make the rehit, it would have been according to gurus teachings, after all they were in his company almost 24/7. In addition, bhai gurdas ji (a comtemporary of guru gobind singh ji and a close companion) wrote many poems on sikhi (which were accepted by the guru); 'sikh ni pyara guru-a no, rehit payari'- its the rehit the guru loves and beholds, not the person (because this rehit is what moulds this person into khalsa; this is further emphasized in dasam granth, where guru ji writes a small stanza on the khalsa, and how he owes ALL to the khalsa.) Rehit is required in this day and age; it serves as a tool..much like the pan kakkar guru ji gave us. Use it wisely; let it better u as a person. If u dnt reap the benefits of rehit, then ditch it and follow ur own path (or find an alternative) Forgive me for any mistakes i have made. Waheguru

o, and anything in sikhi is permissible if the intention is there (within reason of course)..not everyone is at the spiritual state to detach body from soul..hence mortals like me who feel pain need drugs,etc to help me function..we all take medicine dnt we? so where do we draw the line?..intention

ur right punjabi nationalist..most of the problems are between nationalists and patriots..sadly the media and people on the street label them sikhs and muslims, when they are from deserving such titles. the truth is sikhs and muslims tend to be at the forefront of gang warfare and fighting; and naturally they clash sometimes; whether its over women or over drugs..and in the process the gang warfare turns to relegious discrimination (best way of recruiting people i guess.) not to mention things being blown out of proportion..i have never been hassled..i have been given funny looks, but ive experienced that with 'apneh' too..nothing major..and ive never seen sikh gurls being converted..yes they do try it; but when one has the inner strangth and pyaar for sikhi; they know its not worth wasting their breath..hence our bibiya should strive to learn about their faith and have the strength to profess their faith and re-educate those narrow minded fundementalists exactly who we are and what we're about (note:99% of these extremists arent the brightest stars in the universe..they like picking on the weak and vulnerable) this isnt to say the problem is massive (only in mass muslim areas; rare cases) but at the same time it DOES exist..going back to muslim and sikh lads, aside from being mass populations in the uk, they are at the fore front of fighting..when u mix alcohol, women, drugs, ego and anger together- ur bound to get a situation where live wires connect! so yes muslims in the uk are well aware of sikhism..and of sikhs..and sikh history..the partition of india..not to mention some stirring hindus and englishmen..and this is where the problem begins..

Ur last post was a good read. So u think guru ji was referring to shias? What do u make of the line in bani where guru ji says dnt beleive in the koran?? Doesnt that reject islam? (and indirectly the prophets.) Also, this doesnt fulfil gurus shabad on other prophets and and saints and how they brought about their own sect and didnt follow akal purkh and were engrossed in maya i.e mohammed. I agree NO ONE should slander any devotee of god, regardless of their sprititual level. That includes each other

I like ur open mindedness..its refreshing and real nice As long as u dnt lose focus of ur sikhi and the gurus message keep doing what ur doing. I dont have any dispute with u, infact its a nice change from the pro hindu sikhs u get. Nice to see theres a balance in our panth Anyhoo u need to tell me what all those words u used (first few paragraphs mean); im not familiar with them (most my mates are sunnis and we dnt discuss relegion, because they have bigoted views.)
