  1. yeah, I think i read a children's book similar to that...good story.
  2. lol..i'll give you that one, it should be called American Football, lol
  3. lol...not a big football fan, but i always watch, should be fun..
  4. this is a kinda off topic question, but isn't toof the punjabi word for incense? just wondering cause i didn't even know what agarbati was unitl like a year ago, lol...
  5. um..i think some people are missing the point. In Sikhism there is no caste system, so if your sikh, then you are a singh..its as simple as that. I know this is not the reality, but in my book it is, i don't care if you label your self jatt or whatever, if your sikh, then that's all i hear...and i think that is how it is supposed to be. So just drop the damn caste system.. This is a general message aimed at every sikh.
  6. Karnal is awesome, I love that place..my aunt knows all the cops there, and we got to park anywhere it was so cool, wish i could do that here, and man i had the best jamun there. Man now I wish i could go back to Punjab, so much fun there. Don't worry make it an i owe you..
  7. Ok you guys cleared one of my questions, but what about the whole deal with performing the miracles, I mean the gurus were still human. I'm sorry if i sound redundant, but humans can't bring people back to live. Admittidly the gurus were on a much higher spritual plane than others, but they still did not possess the powers of god. Only god is above time, and no one else is, to bring someone to life is to go against this. Pardon any spelling errors, I'm writing this in a hurry, work..lol
  8. I'm a bit confused then, if the gurus could indeed bring people back from the dead and perform such miralces then how does that make sikhi practical? I mean only god can control such things. Also if the gurus were just god's representation then why do we make such a big deal about them, I mean they were just god in different bodies so just worship god and don't worry about the guru's cause those were only bodies that god used. I just see a contradiction there. P.S. I am a sikh, I am in no way trying to disparage the gurus, I am merely trying to better my understanding of the panj pyare.
  9. um...I thought the gurus couldn't bring people back to life, that is something left best up to god, and as we all know the gurus were not god, they were enlightened, but could not bring someone back to life. Because that would also refute the idea that sikhism is practical, in my opinion atleast (ie humans can't bring anything back to life, and the gurus were human). I have always been taught the goat theory because the guru's did not control life and death. Just my two cents.
  10. slow down bro, don't be so hasty to judge...and could you please shed some light on how fish is bad for you...I'm sorry I lack your strong common sense therefore I cannot tell..please do enlighten me.
  11. yeah, they really turned attention away from bin laden, when the whole Iraq thing came up...with the way the administration has been, I could believe they did it on purpose. Anyway I completely agree with you about the US troops. One of my friends just joined the marines, takes guts...I say the troops deserve all the thanks, and Saddam's capture shouldn't be credited to President Bush.
  12. I just had a question about the heaven and hell thing. I thought we believed in the concept of karma, and if you lead a bad life then you are reincarnated as something lower, and if you lead a good life you will go to god? If anyone could clear that up for me, and also fish is bad for you? I eat it quite oftenly.
  13. yeah...i think mini-golf should its own sport, lol..i like it.
  14. Very interesting points lalleshvari. I honestly believe in the saying that history repeats itself, and while we have seen a decline in the chivalry and honor that most people possess, i feel it will come back again. You are right in saying that most chivalrous groups have virtually disappeared, like the samurai, but I don't think that exactly one way of life is correct. Human beings adapt to different time periods based on many things, and truth be told with the way society is in many western countries the need for a warrior class is not necessary, not at this time. I feel everything has its time and nothing is forever (historically speaking of course). So one day the world will enter another dark age, and society will rebuild again as it has previously (ie the Roman Empire).
  15. I just wanted to post a link to this site I found. This is also for khalsacrazed...hope this helps. http://www.sikhs.org/meat.htm
  16. dude, don't bring up the eat/don't eat meat discussion...there are so many threads on that that don't result in anything but pages of disagreement..but the reason why lots of people don't eat cow is cause in India cow is holy to Hindu's and when a majority of the country considers something to be a "sin" then the rest won't take part in, so its Indian culture..and i eat all kinds of meat, cept halal.
  17. wait..so how many people believe "too much" love is a bad thing? I'm just a bit confused, I love god, but that doesn't mean i don't love my family and friends..which would be considered attachment..and that is bad?
  18. yeah, cause I love my family and friends, and I don't see that as a bad thing..how do you fight the most basic of human emotions...we are social creatures, and the bonds we form are very essential in defining our character.
