  1. What do you think of the view of some that simran is not sitting and doing gurmanter rather it is remembering gods qualities and implementing them in your life. doing Jaap of gurmanter is just like a repetition. I heard this from Prof Darshan Singh
  2. Does anyone have any info his background. I know he studied at Damdami Taksal other than that any info??
  3. Wow thanks very much. I am so fascinated by the Amrit Sanchaar. I always see them in Bir Asan making the Amrit. Wow that has really made my day!! Please post more if you have more.
  4. Does anyone have any good Amrit Sanchaar Photos. If yes please provide a link or post.
  5. By no means am I saying that you cannot follow the rehit. I am saying: """Lets be practical about this. Baba Nand Singh said that solely jot and dhoof are useless, they have them in practically all houses in India. It is about your jeevan, your love for the Guru. The amount of Naam Baanee you do. The sacrifice you have for the Guru. """ This sums up what I am saying.
  6. xylitol, Could you also ask Gyani jee, about the Ghee jot. It would interesting to see his views on it and why it is lighten and any other old day stories related to it. Here is a great Kathakaar.
  7. I think it is obvious lighting a Jot will not take you to God and nobody should be saying that. Neither is solely wearing a Dastaar or keeping the 5 K's, and if you think they will take you God you are kidding yourself. These are gifts from the Lord to us and are part of our way of life. They are Maryada and we jave to follow marayada, but solely following maryada will not take you to God. You will become a Khataar Punaa, kinda reminds me of Tapoban (no offence), a clear cut definition and everybody outside of the box has a straight ticket to hell. Simran and Seva are the only things that will take us to God. Jot and dhoof is merely part of the "sumagree" for Guru Jee. It keeps the place clean and smelling nice. It is part of aromatherapy. With that other things start to happen with concentration of Naam Banee then the Shaheed Singhs will come, not just because you have jot and Dhoof!! That means any old hooker could light a jot and dhoof and Lo and behold the Singhs arrive. Lets be practical about this. Baba Nand Singh said that solely jot and dhoof are useless, they have them in practically all houses in India. It is about your jeevan, your love for the Guru. The amount of Naam Baanee you do. The sacrifice you have for the Guru. Hey if you don't want to light it, so be it. No worries. It is all about Seva and Simran. Everybody has learned or has been influenced by slightly different teachings especially on the maryada side. There will always be slight differences, WHO CARES, it is not a big deal. The big deal is the one who have killed the 5 real thieves inside of them.
  8. When we are doing Sucasan Seva of Guru jee. For the most part people have a palang and manjee, where the saroop is transfered to the palang. Now what happens if space is an issue? Can we make a manjee/palang combo that is 6 feet long by 3 feet wide and do prakash and sucasan on the "combo"? It was my understanding that the manjee should be at least about 10-12 inches or open space around the saroop, hence a single manjee excluding the combo would have to be about 4.5 wide x 6 feet long + the palang which would be 3.5 feet wide. There ends up being no room to sit or move around. All of the rooms are a similar size. I am finding in the newly built home in Ontario, the rooms are quite small. The room is going to be 11 feet long X 10 feet wide. How have some of you constructed you gurdwaras at home? Maybe Karamjit and Neo and others can enlighten us on Nakasar/RARA sahib/ Other maryadas
  9. I am just the messenger, not the message!! Contact SGPC Or KFC-SGPC for further details. I think also Bibi said they would be having special promo buckets with Tohra's photo on it, along with a 2 for 1 special.

  11. Does anyone know the oroigins of Sampat Paats? Why they are done etc, etc? I was under the impression that everything was to be read the way it is written. So then why are sampats paats going on? Like Nanaksar and Rara sahib and Taksal they do these quite frequently. Can some of you explain why they are done? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the reply guys I really appreciate it. Rup Singh - Are there any books that have the Rara Sahib Maryada written down? If so could you pass on the titles. I really enjoy reading how each Mahapurkh respects Guru Granth Sahib. Anymore info would be appreciated!!
  13. Thanks for the reply. Thats great info. I really appreciate it. Did the Mahapurks ever mention this in there maryada? I have not been able to find any info on the Rara Sahib maryada. Can you suggest any books? Do they light it everyday at Rara Sahib like during raihraas etc? Karamjeet/NEO and others..... where are you guys.....please add to this thread with the info you have.
  14. Just a question for the sangat: What is the reason behind lighting a ghee lamp and dhoof usually at rehraas time or during and akhand paat? Karamjeet and NEO can you maybe fill us in on the purpose as far as you have heard from Nanaksar and Rara Sahib. I know for the SGPC has banned it in there maryada. But every SGPC run gurdwara I have been to lights them? Even in Harmander Sahib there are always 2 going all the time. Please respond with all the knowledge you have on this subject. Thanks.
  15. Karamjeet Jee, Excellent photos!! Thanks for posting. The first couple of photos are they at your home in India? Did Babajee ever say anything in regards to Pad-chedd or Lareevaar saroops? Please let us know the info about each photo.

  18. Ok Sangat jee, Lets get some action on this post. I know you guys have views and storoes on this subject please share fo all our benfit. Please even comment on the present Baba - Baba Ajit Singh Chagger who is in charge of the dera. Do they do Amrit Sanchaars? Like do they believe in the 5 kakaars and rehat etc?
  19. How far are we supposed to take this? I mean I have a friend who we do simran with everyweekend who beleives heavily in Vadhbhaag Singh, but his Grandparents are also Amritdharee. And most of his family is planning to take amrit sometime? Does this mean we cannot associate with them. Are these rules still in effect? People not to be associated with. 4. Dhir Maleeay Dhir Mal, the elder brother of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji, became an enemy of the seventh Guru and during the time of the sixth Guru he left Kartarpur for Kiratpur Sahib. Once there he set him self up as ‘Guru’. Upon the order of Guru Sahib, the Sikhs seized the ‘Chaur’ from Dhir Mal and threw him out of Kiratpur. Then again at the time of the ninth Guru, Dheer Mal again set up his own throne at Baba Bakala. He also got Sheehee Masand to try to shoot the ninth Guru Sahib. Those Sodhis from the Doab’s Kartarpur area are Dheer Mal’s descendants. It was out of these descendants that Vadbhag Singh was born. During the rule of the 12 Misls (Khalsa States), the governor of Jalandhur desecrated and burnt ‘Tham Sahib’. Vadbhag Singh was Amritdharee, being the first Amritdharee of the Dhir Mal clan. He was scared of the Mughal rulers so he didn’t go to inform the Singhs (living in the jungles), nor did he confront the rulers about the desecration of ‘Tham Sahib.’ At that time, the Singhs thought he had escaped to the mountains to escape persecution and practice black magic. The Dheer Mal clan is excommunicated and is not to be associated with by the Khalsa.
  20. Just a question: When a loved one like your parents are in the hospital sick with some ailments and we do ardaas for there deh-Arogtaa, what happens if they pass away. All those paats and ardasan that were done where do they go? Are they useless to the person? Or should we be doing ardaas for God to give the person Naaam? Chardi -Kala? What kind of ardaas should we do for them?
  21. I have already read that post. I want to the inside view on this dera though? What is on the grapevine? Is this in lines with gurmat? Persoanl experiences with this dera would be helpfull
  22. Does anyone know who Baba Vadbhaag Singh is? I was hearing the katha of Giani Takur Singh DDT, He does not talk very highly of this dera. Does anyone have any info on who they are or any info on there in charge now Baba Ajit Singh Chagger? It is supposeldy a Bhoot extractor dera. Are they in line with Gurmat?
  23. This reminds me of a Dharna that Baba Isher Singh of Rara Saab used to sing: "Naam Jap Ke taa door hondai Dukrai, Seva kar kai Maan Paeedaa" But meditating on the lords name the sorrows have left, by doind selfless service we gather the true honour!!!!!!!! Pheena has hit it right on. Good post!!!
